Big Ern has been motivating me so much during my training to just be the best version of a pilot i can possibly be. It would be an honor to fly with him one day ! Not a video is missed I actually look forward to them lol
I think Big Ern is a phenomenal brand ambassador for Southwest Airlines. Long gone are the days of the grey haired, push broom mustache captain with the large briefcase. Young people need to be exposed to the industry and Ern has been doing a great job👍🏾
Had the pleasure of meeting Ernie briefly at a Cirrus pilots' event. Very nice guy, and I truly enjoy his videos even though I have absolutely no interest in the airlines.
Airlines need to develop an entry-level program that takes low-time pilots out of school (college, PPL, etc.) and trains them like in Europe and other non-aviation industries.. For example, Lockheed, GE, and Raytheon do not wait for an engineer to gain 10 years of experience before hiring. If Airlines developed their own "university" to train pilots for a career in their corporation, they would eliminate the pilot shortage, likely lower costs, and greatly reduce the high cost and barrier of entry for pilots trying to get to 1,500 hours.
This guy is proof that even the most obscure nerds can become ego filled UA-cam stars if they have an interesting career and start filming themselves .
at 62 i just completed my PPL. ( my son is also about to complete ) never too old, thank Ernie....

Good Morning Ernie, I've reached out to you. I'm a 3000+ hour Commercial Pilot AMEL looking for some career guidance. Hope to get in touch with you.
Did you also ask for cards/money from the woman?
Ernie Meeks
I want to talk to you
according to recent events, southwest is using ancient technology to plan their flights and they really need to step it up.
