He will indeed, I might be wrong, totally wrong but what I get from Karma to Burn is just a bunch of dudes who wants to play the coolest riffst you can imagine and thats it, and I'm totally fine with that, because Karma to Burn made some of the most badass riffs ever and they where not stopped or clouded by a singer.

Hung out many a nights w Will back in the days of Sunnyside, Morgantown WV. He was the coolest, nicest guy. One time I walked in his spot and he asked if I ever seen a record contract before and pulled out this 500 page essay and we got drunk and bitched about the music industry. He told me with his classic half smile, the story’s of opening for Metallica and the wave of sound from a whole stadium screaming for them, and how Jason Newstead wanted to join the band bc he was into that real rock more than what Metallica had become. That was a long time ago, and I know Karma and Will both went through some personal shifts. He was always a legend, a riff factory for the hardest fuckin rock band to ever dawn the term "rock". The news of his passing really sucks. Condolences to his family and all his friends and to all the fans who will never get to see Karma live, for their shows were monsters in themselves. Although this one from 2018, long after my days in Morgantown, it's classic and hard as ever. Its fun to see the crowd start slow and eventually lose their minds by the end (36:44 ha!). Will looks stoked, in his element. I can't believe we used to watch these guys in small clubs. Unreal.

When were you Sunnysiding? Most of the 90s for me. I lived across the street from the Music Garden & then above DJs after that, we're we'd have afterparties from KTB shows. Brian Cassell, Clay Shafer, me, and too many others to name now.

I had the chance to see them just after this concert in Bourlon, Le Havre, in a tiny club, where we could (respectfully) touch Will's Les Paul because we were so close. There were 20 of us in the audience, and we had a beer with Will after the concert, chatting for 10 minutes about everything and nothing, music and amp settings. He was really cool, answered all my fan questions. One of the best concerts of my life, and a wonderful memory. Knowing that I won't see him in concert anymore makes me sad, for me, but also for music and rock.

There were some other great bands playing that night but we were there specifically for K2B!!! I am jamming them right now and I happen to be sport a H@B shirt with Goat head and the pentagram star. I love this band like I did in the late 80's when I first heard Soundgarden. Then I heard Mindfuck who shared a member with original Soundgarden/Nirvana. Then a few years ago I was turned onto The Age Of Truth. all these bands are different and yet they fit into the music I can jam to weekly and not ever get burned out on. I love all forms of heavy music from obscure 70's bands like Pentagram/Bang/Buffalo/Dust/Captain Beyond on to eternity as well as I am big into the new southern steel metal of bands like Richmond, VA's Alabama Thunderpussy, Dixie Witch, Honky from Austin, TX and Clearlight, Suplecs to Mountain of Wizard are from New Orleans. As are bands that started the whole Southern sludge punk metal like Graveyard Rodeo/Crowbar/Tungsten/Soilent Green/ with bands from from my many brothers and sisters in my scene in Little Rock like rWake, Deadbird, Crankbait, Copsodomy, Sickshine, Shitfire and Mulloturus, and my favorite 90's band my friends in Acid Bath from my home town Down The Bayou. I love Testament/Suicidal Tendencies/Megadeth and Armored Saint, Trouble, Savatage and even Canadian band from 1988 Sword when I am in the mood. But those "grungy" sound like no one else but still fits in with Stoner Rock and Doom is very special to me. i have always used Black Sabbath as a measuring stick to gauge how heavy a band may or not be.

I think K2B might have been the first actual Stoner bands, which got me interested from the whole genre in early 2000 during their first era. Was absolutely blown away by Almost Heathen. Sure doom was a familiar genre in general and albums like Cathedral's Ethereal Mirror had been on heavy rotation for years, with other gloomier stuff from My Dying Bride to Anathema. And desert rock with Homme's numerous projects gave some enjoyment. But Karma to Burn set the bar for other Stoner bands for me to find. I didn't know about Mecum's death, so it's kind of a bummer to read from the comments that the dude, who's album I happened to pick up from the local library to make me feel better while feeling like shit in my late 20s, had passed on and I never got to see them play. This clip offers a certain kind of remedy for that. Shred in peace.
