      There's no tribe in Ghana called Ashanti or Kwahu. They are sub groups if the Akan tribe. Ashanti is big because it is a UNION of many such Akan groups>>>Adansi, Amansie, Atwima, Kwabre, Offinso(not offinso town, but all the land after crossing the Offin river to the outskirts of Techiman-Now Offinso south municipal and Offinso north district), Sekyere, Asante-Akyem, kumasi and Ahafo(The ahafo region and three districts in Ashanti region- Ahafo Ano south west, Ahafo ano south east and Ahafo ano north).

    Some of the Asantes migrated to that area because they didn’t want to go to war anymore and because of food some of them were going back to the Asante Empire.
    And when they see them living they saa K) Wu just to remind them that they will go to war if they go back.
    I heard this from the Kwahu Chief himself on TV3 when they interviewed him

    Kwawu came from the name "Kwawuakwa Odomankoma Brafo" that is a battalion of feared warriors/ executioners from the Royal home of Ashanti Mampon. They were led by Mampon- Agyei.Their name literally translates in parts as " Divine Executioners" probably the reason why visitors used to fear going to Kwahu in the olden days , fearing their heads would be cut off. The exploits of the late Kwasi Asare, the chief executioner attests to these fears.
    They migrated from Ashanti Mampon in two clans. The Breteo and the Ettina the original occupants of the lands of Israel, Lebanon and Palistine. The Europeans took the two names as Briton and Hattina.
    Other clans like the Agona of Bokurua came from Bodweseaworo( Bodweseanwo) and Denkyira Nnoemu..
    Nkokoo (Nkawkaw) is said to take its name from a river Kokoo.

    Though widely spread, there is nothing that links the then Gana/Ghana empire and subsequently Mande/ Mali Empire to the present day geographical Ghana of Kwame Nkrumah.
    I strongly believe; that part of Akan history was forged. Who, how and to serve what purpose is yet to be debated. May be because of the wealth and hie strong the Mali Empire was; only nature knows.
    The only people in the present day that is linked somehow with the people of Mande is the Banda people in the bono ahafo region.

    The blogger is spot on. The little ma mum told me was that.
    They were marginalized Ashanatis. A situation where a section of d larger group saw themselves as more Ashanatis than others.
    In times of war, these marginalized groups were made to b at d forefront ( k) Wu) , sort of protection for d "proper" Ashanatis (they r put at d peril of d opponents).
    In one of their quests, wn they journeyed to Nkwakwa, these marginalized groups hurriedly climbed d mountain.
    The Ashanatis decided to pursue them. Shots fired at them went straight into/were captured by d palm trees (ab3-no-ati-fi = Abetifi).
    They started rolling stones on d intruders n they were left to be.
    The little I hv heard, stand to b corrected, tho.

    • @POINT_OF-CORRECTION
      @POINT_OF-CORRECTION 3 роки тому +1

      That's true. But they seek refuge with the Akyems who were then stronger to combat the Ashantis because, the were put forefront of wars by the Ashantis and they were the one suffering heavy casualties and death of the Ashantis wars. Though the Kwahus and the Akyems are subclans of the main Twi clan and the subsequent or later formation of the Ashanti clan by other groups of the same umbrella clan. The Ashantis were war mongers and conquerors so the led to the fleeing of the Kwahus to their Akyems brothers who helped them get to the mountains while the Akyems resisted the Ashanti at Asanti-Akyem. So the few Ashanti warriors that penetrated the Akyems were also defeated by the Kwahus as the roll huge stones at them to prevent them from climbing the mountains to reach them. So mostly, the Kwahus are a mixture of Akyems, and Ashantis..
      Stand to be corrected.

    • @kwadwofrempongampadu5653
      @kwadwofrempongampadu5653 2 роки тому +4

      It is not true that the Kwahus sort refuge with the Akyims they were all together at Adanse which was then not part of the Ashanti Kingdom since the the Ashanti Kingdom was not formed yet at that time the Ashantis were called kwaman and they were all under the rule of the Kingdom of Denkyira due to oppressive rule by the chiefs of Denkyira every body decided sort refuge elsewhere so that they can have their peace. So they moved according to clans the Akyim Abuakwa stool belongs to the Asona clan biegn the elderly among the Asona clans they were the first to move morden day location now Akyim Abuakwa then followed by the younger who also moved to Ofinso in Morden day Ashanti than the Bretuo clan also moved to found Manpong now morden day Ashanti Manpong his younger brother by name Esono Gyima moved with some of the members of the Asona clans led by kwame Onini to found Okwahu but they other settlers like the Asini clans around morden day Abetifi , the Agona clan of morden day Bukruwa and some of the Aduana clans at Bepon, Asakraka and Obomeng after the unification of all the clans into one Kingdom the kingdom was sub divided in to divisions for administrative purposes so the left wing are all Asona clan members sometimes called Asona man headed by Aduamoah, then the right wing are all Aduana clan members headed by Obo then the Adonteng and the Kyidom divisions were held by the Bretuo clan members that is Abetifi and Pepease and also the paramouncy at Abene so before Asanteman was formed Okwahuman, Akyim Abuakwa, Akwamu and other Kingdoms were already in existence Ashanti Kingdom was formed by a group of some of the Akan tribes to protect them selves from oppressive rulers but it later became a great Kingdom one of the greatest Kingdoms in Africa .Kwahu became an alies of the Ashanti Kingdom because the Ashanti Manpong hene who is the second in command to the Ashanti hene has his clan brother as the Okwahuhene because both Manponghene and Okwahuhene siblings from the Bretuo clan that's why the Okwahus helped Ashantis in most of their early wars until Okwahu decided to sign a treaty with the British become part of the British protectorate in the latter part of the 18 century

    Most of narratives are not correct. You don't also pronounce the names correctly.Kwahu is like USA. Every town came separately, and at different time. We did not come as one people. Bukuruwa is the first settler so would have been the paramoutcy, but their stool fell to hands of Asante Mampong hunters settling at Abene. Nkawkaw is not traditional town.
