I have had one of these guitars for over a year and while different, palm muting can be done with some experimentation. You will need to get your hand a bit more in front of it. I was going to cut it out and make a bar to support it going around the back, but as I played it I found palm muting just found a way with practice. It is harder and a much shorter range, but adds to the sound.
I've owned this guitar for about 8 years. This guitar build is solid. It sounds very good for this price point. The cone resonator is made very solid no rattling or unwanted noise. It's a versatile guitar. I put on a fender nut extension to play slide. Sounds amazing. I was worried that by using this over time would bow the neck. I left it on for two year's. Took it off for a change. I was totally surprised the neck had not moved one bit. If you want to try a resonator guitar but don't want to break the bank this is the one for you. I hear people slamming laminate guitars. Perhaps they don't know what a laminate guitar is? It's layered wood. So with the price, build & engineering ,materials, sound, anesthetics. I give this Mighty Gretsch resonator guitar a "10"
okay güdd show mate ❕😊 but you didn' t spend anytime talking about this reso being a spider cone vs the alligator being a biscuit cone - to me the boxcar spider cone reso sounds the better of the two and also being the cheaper ; and between the boxcar spider cone reso and the Recording King Maxwell spider cone reso - i would definitely pick the RK Maxwell reso over the Gretsch boxcar reso for all three of fit , finish and tone being the better of the two and approx the same price❕🐊 🎻 🐸🍀
Yeah, I'll def put it on my list. I've actually played the Dandy model lol. It's really good for the price. And the sound is big considering how small it is
I own one of these and it is hand down the worst guitar I have ever owned. The body is not mahogany as claimed but soft white laminate wood with a paper thin mahogany veneer. The build quality is awful and the tone is cheap. Gretsch are not the same company they used to be. If you are looking for a decent budget resonator try a Recording King or better still a Republic.
@@everysingleguitars Sorry to say so but yes I do. Other people seem to like them but beneath the surface they ain’t so great and I have always found the tone to be disappointing.
Either you've been very unlucky or you're full of it. I consider mine to be the best value for money I've ever had. It's got a great tone, especially with a steel side. The whole tonewood thing is pretty irrelevant when we're talking about a resonator model. The sustain is awesome.
@@rodjones117 Maybe I have been unlucky, but then again I have got to examine the workmanship that has gone into my guitar in depth and it is quite shoddy for a big name manufacturer. I do have a problem with Gretsch claiming that these resonators are made of laminate mahogany when the bulk of the laminate material is another wood species. I’m not full of it, I have no desire to trash Gretsch guitars without reason. I just believe that there are better alternatives based on my long term experience of the G9200.

It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.
Another terrific review

Finger picking. Check out Tommy Emmanuel. Incredible!
You should definitely start with an electric gretsch to introduce you to their brand.
the white falcon is a grail guitar of mine
I like this guitar. Its loud, has great sustain, and is very playable. The V neck is great. Got mine for $340 brand new at GC.
how did you get it for 340 brand new?? guitar center had a liquidation sale?
Review a SITAR LOL
Loving mine for 2 months now.
Can you review a norlin era gibson les paul custom? It would be sick if you did like a late 70's one

I love this guitar the craftmanship the looks the sound and playability
I have an Alligator resonator. Not impressed. Tuners are junk. Sound quality not good. Idk.
That Gibson Modern looks weird. 😊
Try Epiphone sl next!
I second this comment
I was on fence about buying this guitar. Your vid helped me decide to buy it! I love it!!!! Thanks!
Great guitar for playing slide
Love the shot glass slide
this is what i call a "i thought it was double" guitar, it looks, feels, sounds and handles like a guitar in the thousand dollar range
Agreed

Hey awesome review! Just curious what song you are playing at 5:06when you start to demonstrate finger picking? It sounds familiar! Thanks!
Age of Worry - John Mayer
I have the G9242
This was great. Thanks!
Never cared for the garish plastic overlay on the Gretsch headstocks
Ya it’s either love or not
Learn to use a slide...
Ok
Yo, can you review the Gretsch Jim Dandy or Gin Ricky?

@@everysingleguitars nice! I hear that the Gin Ricky is the same guitar but with a pickup.
Definitly considering picking one up.

You really think the build quality is awful?
