I have exactly the same bike, I’ve never had an issue with the Nav connection, it works every time……up to now! 😬🤞🏻Love the bike, it just gets better and better the more I ride it!
Maybe with mine it's either a faulty connectivity module or a phone compatibility issue. I still don't understand why it can connect so faultlessly with the phone for everything else but that navigation is an issue. Phone connects without the ignition on but when I try navigation it says the ignition must be on...but then it still won't connect till a few minutes into my ride if at all. What phone do you have? Mine is a Samsung S21 Ultra.
Alan, thanks for this morning coffee run. I’ve been riding nothing but BMW for the last 45 or so years, Mostly GS since the 90s. The best of the big ones was my ‘00 1150, but I recently gave it to a friend to put the next 150kmi on her. I had a horrible ‘07 GSA (new) that I couldn’t get rid of quickly enough. So, sitting here the other night, racking my brain trying to figure what the next bike was going to be, I suddenly realized I hadn’t even thought to see what Triumph has been up to the past few years. Holy smokes! I saw the Rally Explorer in Snowdonia White and was piqued. Did my homework, read/viewed everything I could find, and found a shop only a couple of hours away with one available. Consummating the deal tomorrow! I guess I got Beemer Burnout, but this Explorer has me juiced! Please keep sharing what you know as you go, and thanks again! 👍
Hey John. That's great mate. I went for a long ride in the mountais yesterday with my wife. The bike just seems to be getting better and better. I have my low seat now which helps a lot. The connectivity is still an issue for me with my phone but only for navigation. Looks like my phone is not supported yet. Nor the GoPro I have. I'll probably be getting a Garmin Xumo or similar anyhow. Enjoy your bike mate.
@@ADV-Rider-Dude I’m looking forward to some mountain rides soon myself, Alan. I should think they would have software updates for your phone soon…that’s an easy fix for them. Having your low saddle should really improve your riding, too! I don’t have that issue…6’6”, so big dualsports are really the only thing I can ride for long distance. 😁 Question: I’ll know tomorrow whether I have a buffeting issue in the cockpit, but do you find that the accessory aero wing does much for you either way? Thanks and cheers!
I’m also looking at the Tiger 1200 rally explorer or BMW GSA 1250 in the US.. I can’t decide! Are you guys experiencing vibration in mirrors or bars at highway speeds? Thanks guys!
I have the Speed Triple 1200RR and the app sucks connecting. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes much longer. The app has been updated but probably only with more device connection. Love the new 1200'S. Was going to get the Tiger GT Pro but then the Speedy Triple 1200RR came out 😉 I have a 2012 Tiger Explorer so perhaps next year for new Tiger. Great video!
Got a Trident, same problem with the navigation app. Very annoying and basic quality failure of programming ergonomics... should have been picked up in testing and fixed. Also got comms problems when pairing phone to bike and helmet: other party says I get a robot voice and sometimes the phone can't decide whether to send the audio via the bike or phone... glad you mentioned it too.
Update - I heard back from Triumph and they told me to do all the things that I was already doing to connect the navigation. I am not sure if they did something on their back end (I did give them the VIN) or if it's pure coincidence however since getting the email I have not had an issue connecting at all. I hope that doesn't jinks it.
So far so good. Nice seating position. Very comfortable. Suspension is awesome. I am not noticing any of the vibration that others are talking about but then I have not gone faster than 100km/h yet. Fuel consumption seems good for a new engine. It's quite different from my 2012 Tiger Explorer. It doesn't feel big at all, even with the 30l tank. Quick shifter is absolutely awesome. I also considered the GSA but it's more expensive and longer in the tooth. I just couldn't see any advantage to getting the GSA other than maybe resale value but you never know with that and that's not my main motivation for what I buy. It's more than just a financial decision. The Tiger just looks a lot better than the GSA in my opinion.
When I was a kid, we called going around 35 MPH in 6th gear at 2K RPMs "lugging" it. Dad said lugging it helped reduce carbon on something or other in the engine. I was looking at your speedo, seeing 6th gear, and I thought you were going 60 MPH, but you were only going 60 km/h or 37 MPH. I resist being in that luggish state because you need to downshift once or twice to be able to escape a danger. My 2020 1200 prefers to be in 3rd or 4th at a steady 37 MPH. Is that why I only get 40 MPG?
Hey Scott. Sorry..I only saw your message now. 60km/h seems to be on the edge for 6th gear. Probably 70 or above is ideal. At 60 in 6th there is not that much difference from 5th as far as economy is concerned so for safety I should rather be in 4th or 5th depending g on the traffic.
Thanks for sharing.... really enjoyed your first take on the bike and also being open about your first impression.... yes I suspect we'll see some upgrades around the Triumph App ... I hope so....it seems that with that beautiful screen there's still a lot they can do with it....doesn't seem fully utilized and I think the Triumph app is going to be a general complaint for most....hasn't stopped me from ordering the exact bike you have.... same color also.... one thing you mentioned is how tall it is.... I wasn't in a position to actually see or test drive the bike so I'm a little concerned about that....How tall are you? I'm 5 feet 11 inches ((180 cm) and I currently have the Triumph tiger 1200 2017 that I have no issues with as far as size.... once again great content video and I hope to see many more! No idea how long I'll have to wait for my bike to arrive..... I live in Northern California (3 hours north of San Francisco) .... I think I pick up a South African accent? I'm originally from Cape Town.... but been in the USA for 25 years now....keep us informed about your experience with the Triumph...
Hey David. You got the accent right. I'm from Port Elizabeth. Been in Brisbane for almost 17 years. I'm 175 cm in height. So it might be OK for you on the lower setting. They tell me that my lower seat will be here in early July. Triumph UK contacted me about my complaint with the app and asked for my VIN. I haven't had a reply yet though.
@@ADV-Rider-Dude Appreciate the quick response and would love to keep track of all your findings and thoughts on the bike... as i said I have no clue when my bike will arrive... I think the US were the last to get bikes it seems ... but through people like you I'm following along on their experiences as it's a bit more real than the motorcycle journalist ...it's different I think if it's your own bike ... let me/us know as you find out more on the app also.... the fact that we are coming off basically the same bike made your impression extremely valuable also...much appreciated.
@@ADV-Rider-Dude Picked mine up today... love it....really do...but keep us posted once you get your low seat..... maybe a video on it if you get around to it.... would like to know how you find it....
All I know is that it's an adrenalin rush at high revs. I've never wanted to break the speed limits so much before and really have to hold myself back. Honestly though...I can't say I notice any vibration at high revs. It vibrates more than my 2012 Tiger 1200 at idle speed. That I know for sure. Go and test ride one. That's how you will know for sure
Forget the screen toggles and all that look at the scenery and the wonders of the world where that bike can take you a separate gps would fix that problem sounds like a commute bike would suit you better
Would it be SO expensive for Triumph to just install Apple Car Play and Android Auto on the TFT? (Honda do it on the new 1100)
I know right I wonder the same thing Alan
Thanks for Vids and info!! Something I noticed after 2 weeks of waiting for console to start up, is that bike will start without the console lit up!
Yes absolutely. I've seen lots of complaints about the slow start but those people just have to figured it out yet 😀
