Happy with my Panasonic EVPV360 (black) panels and the microinverters (emphasis iq8+) I got a few years back. Similar to the REC warranty, I went with an installer certified to get the guarantee (and warranty) on the equipment, performance, and labor for 25 yrs - nice to have the piece of mind

Great info. A bit of feedback around the info you provide around each panel: It would be helpful if you could identify the same features across each panel by category, made in usa? yes/no, Panel X size larger/smaller for rated wattage? High wind rating? yes/no... etc... I often get some great info from your videos but at the same time that info misses just enough where I have to go somewhere else other than your video to get basic questions from your video answered. Takeaway here is if you could show some comparative chart at the end on how you came to these ratings, it would be helpful. For example, I really liked the callout of the .20-25c vs .40-.50c for Maxeon but you didn't establish what is the average price is right now to give the full picture.

Thanks for the video! Given the growing importance of solar in meeting our individual and societal energy needs, we need to manufacture most of the panels domestically. Also, Joe, we need more affordable home and small business-scale storage batteries. Solar is good, but it is only great when paired with affordable batteries.

    Wonderful video.
I would appreciate if solar modules manufacturers increase module "cell" efficiency instead of copping-out to creating larger size modules.
I'm aware you are not a tax consultant, but I feel as tax season approaches you should do a video on how the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) can benefit residential solar installers using their fed tax form 5695 to obtain tax credits; even eligible contractors can receive Federal 45L tax credits.
I'm glad you are mentioning where the solar modules are manufactured; like the Q. Tron factory in Dalton, Georgia. Another feature of the IRA is a "10% Tax Credit Adder" for "Domestic Content" of renewable products. Eligiable business can benefit for the credit if a certain amount of their product is manufactured in the USA and using domestic parts.

So do we all. The fact is unless there is some kind of major breakthrough at best we will see a small increase each year, we are moving inches not miles.

Quick question…. Solar batteries seem very expensive. Would it be viable to use marine trolling cells… 2x24volt lithium phosphate … 2500 wh each. Cost 500 each from amazon? Am i missing something?

In Florida with our cost of electricity it makes NO sense to spend bucks that cannot be recovered for almost 30 years…

Wow, panels are getting up there on wattage, but physical size too. Quick look at the Silfab, seems a relative bargain on price per watt.

Why is impossible to get a true price quote? What is the price of each panel and how much is the battery?
If I know the cost of each panel and battery, I can do the math to figure material cost.

My installer said something about me putting or making sure a soft start is on my AC is that necessary with two Franklin batteries?

    • @SolarSurge

Soft starts are not strictly necessary, but I would recommend them. I am seeing a disconnect between Franklin's marketing and what homeowners and installers are seeing in terms of real world performance.

How does Panasonic rate? Does Rec now connect to Panasonic?

Panasonic and REC have pretty much the same specs.

    • @piyushpd27
      @piyushpd27 8 місяців тому

The REC405 is basically identical to the Panasonic EVPV400HK. The only difference being the REC panel is slightly bigger hence the 405 vs 400. Said differently if REC ranks #1 so does Panasonic.
