Just moved to Dallas and found a fixer upper tahoe q4. I know nothing about boats and got it on a whim. Your videos have been amazing and super helpful. Thank you!
Its nice to see that searay had installed thicker than average transoms on their boats of that era, well on yours at least. I had always heard that one shouldn't remove a transom along with stringers/floors at the same time when rebuilding the skeleton of a boat.issues with fitment/angles of repair pieces, curing of glass etc,You make it look so easy and it may very well be, You take good care, time and research in your work and it shows. thanks for the insight and motivation -J.W
When will industry standards finally BAN plywood transoms? Absolutely no excuse for having a critical structural area of the hull compromised by water and fungus.
when redoing a transom, why do people use wood instead of aluminum? Seems like it would save all this hassle of having to replace it when it gets worn, and the metal should be able to handle a higher horsepower rating. Also, it's lightweight. What do you think?
I've never rebuilt a boat before or anything like that, so I thought the transom was the whole back piece. It's just the inner layer or wood/fiberglass? What about the wood that you're sanding next weekend, is that part of the transom?
I'm replacing the transom in my 16ft lone star. Would I be able to use some regular plywood as a replacement for my transom as long I use epoxy and paint if with some sort of water resistant paint?

It's great to see you go from understandably hugely depressed to becoming more and more positive as your work on the boat progresses. Great job, man.

Awesome vid. Every second of every video you make is fun to watch.
An oscillating tool would probably work well for that. Dremel makes one as well as other manufacturers.
LOL..I WAS looking for a used boat..not so sure now. I do have a better idea of what to watch out for thanks to you. Great videos, I am learning alot
+Andrew Williams Glad I could help
Depends if you have the time... at the the Of the day
Hears a tip on removing wood drop transom .a air chisel Use a curved chisels cuts time in half
Aaron Boone I partially agree. The rapid vibrations might crack the outside gel... but it might work.

Let's see the finished project.
What about a piece of acrylic? Do you think that would hold
Awesome vid like always!!!!!!!

Pity you talk about it but not show the physical work in progress
