What the...? As an idiot you can beat him at his own game? Like Deus Ex, this is one of those games where you keep finding new things years after playing.
I just got this random encounter and guess what? Remember that bit where Arthur the King of the Britans is asked "What is the average speed velocity of an unladen swallow?" Yep there is even a bit of dialogue where a reference to that appears in there. "What is the minimum requirement for the Quick Pockets Perk?" I said "What do you mean? The statistic or level requirement?" [Bridge Keeper explodes].
moon Yes, it's all one of the reference to Monty Pythons Quest for the holy Grail. I remember when me and my friends played this game about 20 years ago (I'm old!) and we encountered this bridge. They had died several times because they picked wrong answer. Now i had seen the movie and recall the similarities. So i recited the dialouge and they choosed the answer that was the most similar ones. And lo', we could cross the bridge, and i was the hero of the moment!
I dont know about that, because I have completed me playthrough as a stupid brute (1 INT, 10 ST, 10 EN). And it was NOT that easy. Basically, NOBODY wants to talk with you because of how stupid you are. Yes, sometimes you can have free-go like with the tanker when you dont need a fob and nav comp. just a fuel (I might be mistaken but it is still very easy thing to do). And of course, fight with Frankie, you can't convince the granite team (I might be mistaken), for sure you can't use computer to turn the turrets on Frankie, and in my case you are facing him up close and personal, which was even harder. So yeah, you might encounter some funny stuff as low-INT character, but that is only thing you will have.
Sad fact: when I met the bridge keeper on my first playthrough, all my saves (even backups) got corrupted in a way it makes the game crash when traveling, and I had to start all over again (i was at late game). Now, on every playthrough after that, i Alt F4 every time I get this encounter. My save never got corrupted again
I think it's a Monty Python reference: In Monty Python and The Holy Grail, there's a bridge where you have to answer multiple questions, and if you lie or get them wrong, you immediately get killed by unseen powers. Here, because the Bridge Keeper has no name given to him by the developers, asking for his name forces The Bridge Keeper into a no-win scenario, since Staying Quiet and Giving A Fake Answer both result in instant death.

Man, even the fucking super rare special encounters had amazing dialogue for low intelligence characters...
Rumor has it that Interplay writers were forced to add in these dialogue and effects just in case the player character was a fucking dumbass.
