I realized while editing that I never recorded the clips of me acquiring the noteblock or dispenser in Beta 1.2. Spoiler alert - it wasn't interesting. I made them out of materials I had in my chests and put them in the hall. Also, sorry my voice is a little weird in this one and the audio is a lil wonky, I'm still getting over a bad cold and getting my voice back! happy to be back
Minor detail about 8:37 - about the squid milk, if I'm not mistaken it was actually jeb who did that, and the reason was because it was his first time creating a mob and at the time he didn't actually know how to create a mob, so he just copy pasted the cow's code and worked from there. I recall seeing a screenshot of a tweet from jeb from long ago where he explained that being the reason for the milking code being forgotten about and left in Nonetheless great vid :)
Just got back to watching this series from the beginning... it's absolutely fantastic! As an alpha player, this is the perfect blend of nostalgia, accurate information and *just* the right amount of silly fun : )
Blocks you have ahead of you: Beta 1.3: - Bed - Redstone Repeater(?) - Sandstone, Cobblestone and Wooden Slabs Beta 1.4: Basically nothing since it was an April Fools' update, although it did add wolves and cookies Beta 1.5: - Birch and Spruce Sapling - Powered Rail - Detector Rail
I hate the two block gap in the hall but I can only imagine it'll look fine in the inevitable flyover at the "end" of the series. New favorite random minecraft series, can't wait for the next one!
Yes ! I'm loving this series, glad your gonna be working on it more, it makes my day everytime I see a new one ! As a side I think it would be cool if at some point maybe in another few episodes you do a less formulated episode. Like the let's play commentaries of old. Kind of like a world tour or where you just work on a project or play the game. I think that it could be a fun one off type thing. You could do it before moving out of beta for example. Also are we just nkt gonna mention the oak tree with spruce leaves at 13:48. That's about it can't wait for the next one !
this is a great idea - I was thinking about doing a world tour at the end of beta in this exact style. Laid back, no script, just talking about the world.
Yay, it’s finally time for episode 3! I’ve been waiting for this. I love this series. Give my compliments to Paladin for making such an enticing and addicting series
Need to say it but the still active Old Minecraft community is so wholesome and chill, this game is just a different one from the modern releases of Minecraft! I like this concept of vid and would love to see more of the LP in the future, also wanted to say that this has maybe inspired me to start my own probably! I'll be going from the first Alpha version to Beta 1.7.3 and gradually updating to every update sequentially based on their release date lol, might turn out great idfk. Anyways thanks for keeping this community alive, I'm not enough of a veteran to have started in this era (although I was a couple weeks from being in it actually), though these versions feel more familiar than the newer ones
I was enjoying the series since the drop of the first episode and genuinely thought you're swimming in fame because these are really high quality made -- the kind of stuff I always watch while drawing, easy to follow and just great to remember what's been in Minecraft before it got changed/removed Looking forward for more of this, really love your editing and just video style in general :)
I was thinking about doing something similar to this series about 3 years ago except I was going to use MC edit to slowly generate the world and expand it by like 3000 blocks each time the world updated unfortunately life happened, so im really glad ive got this video to watch instead!!
cant wait for the rest of this eries dude, i love this cuz i grew up with pocket edition 0.8.1 and that was like a mashup of a lot of beta, can't wait dude
I subscribed to your channel because of this series. I just really love the idea, and its so interesting to see how the game has evolved with time. Hope you can post more often!
I have been waiting for this video for so long and the worst part is I didn’t find out about it until today when I manually checked your channel. Turns out this video didn’t get pushed to my homepage for whatever reason.
That episode was a blast I definitely should make videos similar to it since i have chunks from classic, indev, infdev, alpha, beta and release But yeah really enjoying the progression of the series
will you ever play the console legacy edition? if so, will you start a series on there? I remember playing specifically on TU14 because i never updated my game to the latest version, and it would be so cool to see you try it
What I'd like to know is how you have a skin other than Steve. Been trying everything to get a different one to work in the offline official launcher version of Beta 1.4_01 but no matter what I do I still see Steve. Next video, maybe give us a quick rundown of what needs to be done.
the BetaCraft launcher connects to your Minecraft account! No work needed, you just change your skin on the minecraft site as normal and it works in every version.
@@PaladinRyan Well, something weird appears to be happening with Betacraft. Because every time it seems like I successfully signed in with my Microsoft account I close the window and Betacraft says the launch failed. Which is a real problem since pretty soon Mojang accounts won't exist anymore.
@@PaladinRyan My thinking is I need to configure the instance settings to my computer. Because every time it seems like everything is good to go and then it just fails. Maybe I should open the "real" launcher first and see if that helps.
Its a shame there is no way to preserve the block textures of old blocks while keeping the new ones as they are. Would make an awesome display for the hall of blocks watching the textures get progressively more polished.
Very interesting series, and of course much nostalgia in MC beta. I will say though, my hot take is that even though I probably loved Minecraft the most at this time it isn’t superior. It was probably golden age in the sense of being a community and being a kid. Hear me out, for example, I love Old School RuneScape and it’s very fun and for the most part the same as when I was a kid but it’s not as fun, and that’s because now I’m an adult and rather than experiencing the game as it is I have less time and need to find the most efficient way to play because I’m an adult. I think with Minecraft being so popular now every shred of code is analyzed and content on UA-cam favors lower quality and higher quantity. It’s lost magic more so because we’ve grown up. This doesn’t mean it’s worse though. Even the argument of Beta having cooler terrain is tossed out by the last 3 patches and ultimately like the doom eternal twitter post says “you control the buttons you press.” Anyway. It was a time when the community was large enough to feel like a part of something but not so big and saturated that there wasn’t still magic. So yeah growing up kind of sucks but it’s also kind of cool that now I’m old enough to appreciate the game fully. I’ve loved the recent updates because the terrain feels as wondrous as when I was a kid and now I have fully modern Minecraft with the talents of being an adult and understanding redstone and architecture and design and color theory. As crazy as it sounds the past month or so in modern Minecraft I’ve enjoyed more than any time since beta. (Doesn’t hurt that I’ve also been diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and with medicine I can now focus on my builds rather than aimlessly hopping around for an hour). We may never return to the magic of the past but we can appreciate where we are now and enjoy it with the skills and appreciation of adulthood.

that's right! I forgot Jeb had taken over a lot of the development at this point. thank you for the correction :)

This is the first time in 6 years that I’ve watched a Minecraft let’s play. It feels good to feel a little like a kid again
Video moment, also there’s so much nostalgia with me for this series. It’s like watching my childhood play out in front of me one update at a time.
Video moment! (also so happy to hear that, that’s the goal)
would be cool to dedicate a section of the world to mob spawners from every era of minecraft, i know they've evolved a lot over the years
oh god the old textures give me so much nostalgia 😭
The Minecraft Nostalgia super chad alpha Paladin Ryan returns with another banger!

When you can get leaves with shears, you should do that for your block collection. Great video
that’s the plan :)
I LOVE this series!!! Please keep making these episodes!!!
I did not know the thing about the throwing of eggs! LMAO. sweet video. Nice to have you back.
In all seriousness, I really like the throwable egg feature and it's chance to spawn a baby chicken. It makes starting new chicken farms way easier!

The squid wasn't being buggy, that's how they worked. You could only milk them if you were aiming at the mouth side of them.
this is such a good series
