Fantastic! I live in Spain and the only bird feeders available cost about 30 euros each from the garden centre. Now I can make lots of these for the birds nearby, and hope to entice them into my garden more :o)
Great idea! Best way to recycle drinking bottles. One suggestion, glue a small dish underneath to catch any spillage. Don't forget to drill small holes to let rain water flow.
Hey dude, I am from India ...... I wanna thank to you bro..... You made me help in my school project bro.... And what a channel bro.... you make us feel that we should take care of our mother earth's cute little animals and birds.... #keepitup bro
Thanks for this great video! I made a bird feeder from a juice bottle, following your directions, and I'm watching house sparrows, cardinals, and starlings cluster around it right this minute 😄
I instantly gave a thumbs up before even watching the video because I was merely greatful someone had taken the time to even show me how. And it was simple and easy and a great idea. So to all the thumbs down how about you spend more time trying to be a help to others such as this video and keep your negativity to yourself. Don't you have real disturbing videos to troll?
I was assigned to make something useful from a plastic bottle for guiding activity and I was thinking thinking thinking but come up with nothing and was so upset and nearly crying as I have to finish it by tomorrow. This video is superb and now I am happy too.....😊😊
This is very easy to make! I used an old, cheap multi tool knife for most of the cutting. Instead of a drawing pin, I used the tip of the corkscrew, and I used a large knife attachment in a twisting motion to enlarge the holes as needed. Instead of poking the lower dowel into the bottle, I super glued it into the bottom. The dowels were 12 inches long, so I cut them down to 9 inches for the perches and glued the remaining pieces to the bottom parallel to the lower perch. This creates a stable bottom when I want to refill the birdseed and utilizes as much of the lower half of the container as possible.
this looks like a squirrel feeder! If you added one of the plastic round tops that sometimes comes on take-away (at least in the US) above the knot, it will give the squirrels a little more of a challenge.
How did you keep the seeds from falling out of holes for birds to feed? The seeds are in the bottle higher than the holes. I used empty 40 oz peanut butter containers and made the holes large enough for the birds can go inside to eat.
This is a great idea! I bought a bird feeder at a store. But within a week, squirrels had damaged it, from them trying to chew it open. If squirrels try to destroy this homemade feeder, no big deal. Just go and build a brand new one.
There are several factors in doing a pro job. One place I found that successfully combines these is the Aviary Magic Method (check it out on google) without a doubt the most incredible info that I have ever seen. look at this unbelievable resource.
I made 2 of them today. I used a soldering iron to make the holes though. Also used a dowel rod for the landing area and old but still good shoe laces. Tried using a drill but the bit tore the plastic.
i find that our birds like free standing feeders the best, so i use long steak sticks in the ground and attach my feeders to the top ,old candle holders work great, i always use clear glass inserts for the candle holders small ones because there is less seed wasted and i can find cute glass containers they perch on top and eat away and you can wash them easy with soap and water and then replace them,
💕💕🐦🐦🐦💕💕💕 Done mine...just waiting for the birdies🐦🐦🐦🐦 👍👍👍Thanks for a brilliant way to help the birds this Winter and a great way to recycle all those unwanted plastic bottles that people throw away! Save the Planet! 🙏
Amazing! Somebody stole the bird feeder I kept on a tree in the backyard for over a year now. I'm not buying another one this time, I'm going to create one.
This could be my answer to my gold finches waisting so much nyjer seed on my tube feeders,i could make the holes smaller and save a lot of money too ,thanks nice vid.
Any feeder I used which was made of plastic didn't last long ---- the squirrels chewed them up in no time flat. There was absolutely no way a plastic or wood feeder could be mounted to keep squirrels at a distance; if the birds could reach it, the squirrels could too. The problem was solved only after I went to all-metal feeders. I still feed the squirrels as well as the birds, but the feeders remain intact. At least your plan doesn't involve any cost.

They cost around 3-4 EUR on Aliexpress (shipping incl.). But yes, it's better to create one! I'll do the same.

Loved it! But I think the spinning of the feeder make it harder for the birds to eat. It should be hanged in a way that it doesn't spin that much

Is there no microplastic risk by the way?

Oh goodness I forgot about squirrels 😲
Birds Unlimited has a bird seed that squirrels don't eat. It's more expensive but even if it falls on the ground, it doesn't sprout
Do the birds care about spinning around ?
A man could hang a weight from the bottom of the feeder to GREATLY reduce the spinning.
@@marcusgrigsby446 What do you mean by a man?
