Division of Islam happened after the prophets (pbuh) death. Sunni choose sahaba and Shia choose ahlul bayt (the prophets family) thats the only difference between us, everything else, we have the same belief in!! Sufism was not regarded as a sect or a belief restricted to a group of people, until wahabis branched out of the sunnis and started masquerading as sunnis while they are wahabi extremists. There's a lot of confusion out there as to who is sunni because of them impostor sunnis( wahabis) calling themselves sunni, and so sufis had to call themselves sufis just to differentiate from the impostor sunnis (wahabis).

But actually everyone does follow sunni or Shia (or others). Because you have to follow a Madhhab which leads you to follow sunni or Shia (or the others). For example I don’t think the prayer you do and the prayer I do is exactly the same (idk where you come from but I come from Turkey) because everyone follows a different Madhhab. For example if you are from Arabic countries you are probably (with highly chances) handbali maddhab. I follow Hanafi maddhab which is very common in Turkey. In Indonesia they usually follow Shafi Maddhab and Maliki maddhab in Africa.

This guy is using the picture of a major leader of the Shias as a representative of Sunnis. And he also doesn't know that there are so many Sunnis who themselves are Sufis. I am a Sufi and a Sunni. Sufi is not a ‘Branch’ of Islam, it is a blanket term for Islamic mysticism. There are Shia sufis and Sunni sufis. For example, the Qadriyya are a Sufi order within Sunni Islam, while the Bektashi are a Sufi order within Shia Islam. This is a really common misconception among non muslims and salafis

Thanks for compiling all this info mate. One of the main info about soufism is the disconnection of muslims from this worldly life and the practice of remembrance of the lord. It was practiced like this in the early islamic life, however the the time, as Christianity and judaism there were some worshippers who introduced additional things such as dancing and chanting which is considered as an innovation and as may form of innovations it is prohibited in Islam the same as mainstream Christianity and judaism innovation is prohibited because with the time it leads to deviation from the path of our creator.
Innovation is considered a good skill in our world, which is a good thing. We innovate in the auto making, bread making, driving vehicles, because we all of us are human beings and there might be someone brighter than an other and has a much better idea than others. However if you innovate in the path which was determined by your creator, you are simply telling him that you know what is best for your body and your soul much better than the one who made them. We still don't know how our brain works then the chances we know how are bodies and souls work are slim.
Innovation is Innovation in the worship of Allah. Not worldly things like computers cars apartments etc.
