LYRICS:
There's a golden sky
in a place that I left long ago
and I know, one day
I will return.
I've arrived at a fork in the road.
No signposts to tell me where to go.
No familiar landmarks in the world surrounding me.
I barely recognise my own two feet.
I knew from the start
I'd be alone out here,
but this things don't feel real
until you're there.
And so it goes,
I set out on my own.
Fortune favours those who dare.
I won't waste more time.
I've got so long to go.
There's a golden sky
in a place that I left long ago.
For the shining stars,
my heart still yearns.
To the pale moonlight,
to the memory that calls to my soul,
I know, one day I will return.
There's a road ahead,
as yet unmapped, uncharted, unknown
but that's not going to change
without me.
I can't know the things I'll face
or if I'll even make it through
but it's better than sitting and
waiting to be freed.
Adventure awaits.
I challenge my fate.
Out from my cocoon,
I can finally fly
in any direction.
It's at my discretion
who and where I want to be.
The journey ahead may be harrowing.
It may be almost more than I can bear.
I'm homesick and hurting
but I know this is worth it.
I have to believe.
I might stumble. I might fall
but I'll carry on through it all.
There's a golden sky
in a place that I left long ago.
For the shining stars,
my heart still yearns.
To the pale moonlight,
to the memory that calls to my soul,
I know, one day I will return.
Hear my, hear my, hear my lullaby.
Hush now, angel, darling, don't you cry.
Hear my, hear my, hear my silent prayer.
Sweet home of my memory, are you still there?
Hear my, hear my, hear my lullaby.
Hush now, angel, darling, don't you cry.
Hear my, hear my, hear my silent prayer.
Sweet home of my memory, are you still there?
There's a golden sky
in a place that I left long ago.
For the shining stars,
my heart still yearns.
To the pale moonlight,
to the memory that calls to my soul,
I know, one day I will return.
This lullaby, this ballad, lonesome tune, where did come from? Who sang it first? Who knows. But you will here it all the same.
A traveler, a girl dressed in weathered black, will sing it in high tones as it bounces off harsh canyon walls and echoes through endless desert.
A sailor sings it to the endless roaring ocean, heading not that it is nearly blocked out by the sea’s own melody-this song is for him alone.
At the bar a wandering singer stills the rowdy crowd with her music, for the song full of home sickness and hope, speaks to her as much as it does the most gnarled of men.
A troop of soldiers sing the song together as they march off for lands and reasons unknown, their combined voices lending them strength
And in the dark of the night you can sometimes hear it sung by voices unknown
You have two distinct styles. And while I do love both, I must say, this style is something else.
Thank you! ❤️
Also probably my favorite on the album! I was so certain that this fits Claude from Three Houses until the bridge… but the bridge is my favorite part!
so parts of this song were written back in like 2018ish, well before three houses came out. including the bridge. but i couldn't think of lyrics for about half of the verses until this year. claude's my favourite character from 3h. you do the math :p
Just wanted to say that I love all of the songs in this album so much, especially this one. I'm so glad you're still making music, thank you for sharing these wonderful songs with all of us.
aw, thanks so much!!
I dare say this may be my favorite song of the new album! The chorus is somehow resonant with the space where my soul should be.
I've missed your music so much! This makes me so happy!
The just keep getting better. The split sound, the build up, just beautiful.
I think this one is my favorite so far. It is so beautiful and emotional and hits so close to my heart. I am so happy you are back! 💖
Excellent bridge!
Thank you. I needed this song.
is the cocoon lyric a reference to Butterfly? 👀
you know what, it should be
I found hidden gem..
