Recently got into him more and listening to him a lot, his voice is so beautiful, so good. just shows that music from another time can still have power and reach us youngsters (I'm 18)
@@5inthehole l was 9 years old when Sam Cooke was slain in 1964. I now 65 and still hate with a passion, anyone who had anything to even remotely to do with his murder What a tragedy, what a loss to society. Senseless
Sam Cooke has a voice that comands attention. You don't have to ask who's singing that song, because of his phiniminal voice and music, is truly one of q kind and you can reconize it anywhere. His voice is also very clear and it's easy to sing along to all of his music. He is also an Incredible song writter. He's written almost everything he sang. . Mr. Soul, your legacy will live on in our hearts forever..I Love You and I wish that I would have known you, you are the Best..R.I.P.
I love how he's enjoying performing so much that he's going "mmm!" at his own performance, like "man this sounds good!" hahaha!!! I love it. So much soul.
That is the question I have been asking for years, I heard a rumor that Mick Jaggers movie production company is going to make a Sam Cooke Movie as he was involved in the latest James Brown movie.
Sam Cooke was such a great singer and dancer. There could not be a dull moment when he too the stage. Great dresser and smile that warmed the heart. He was taken from us too soon. 🙏
THE GREATEST SINGER OF OUR TIME....PRODUCER, WRITER,ARRANGER, RECORD COMPANY CEO,ACTOR,ACTVIST AND ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING ,BEST DRESSED MAN EVER...THANK YOU GOD FOR GIVING THE WORLD A TASTE OF PERFECTION. ..
Wow! What a voice and such charisma. Sam was one very handsome man. A true legend. Thank you for sharing this wonderful treasure of Sam Cooke live and so amazing.
My parents got to see him in NYC a few times last time was just months before he was shot but damn it was wild mix of people and he had the place dancing just going crazy.
One of the greatest never been matched. Listened to his life story on the radio recently and it's tragic end. And although I wasn't born when Sam was alive I have always loved his music the real king of soul! R.I.P Sam
Probably one of the best voices in the history. And such a modern interpretation. He understood the core and the essence of music and was much farther than the others
hes here so young, so mindblowingly talented, flawless in his performance and breathtakingly good-looking.He wrote his music himself. I am still devastated to know he died so young so senselessly and in such sketchy circumstances.
I'm only 33 lol but sam cookes music has always been speacial to me , he sings from his soul. Makes me so sad how his life got cut so short. He was robbed. :(
The buzz at the start of the song makes me love this song, I took a razer to my vinyl record to recreate this actually! It makes me cry everytime thank you so much for getting the limited edition copy 😭😭😪
I could not agree any more. To me, Elvis and Cooke were without question to the 2 greatest singers ever. I think John Lennon was 3rd. He obviously had nowhere near as strong of a voice as those 2 but his delivery was impeccable.
Simon Green Lmfao that is just absolutely ridiculous. Elvis Presley could sing ANYTHING and make it sound amazing. And he sang with more emotion than any singer ever. There is a reason that every great musician thinks of him as a god.
Phenomenal artist taken too soon. As good as he is here, this is Sam reserved, performing for white America. His Live at the Harlem Square record (arguably the greatest live album of all time) is Sam truly going for it. It's soul personified. It was recorded in 1963 but it wasn't released until 1985 because RCA, the record label thought it was too black, too raw and gritty for the time. Sam is the true Godfather of Soul. There will never be another like him.
Harlem Square very greatest live album i ever heard. As his brother L.C. Said "audiences knew that Sam could get down and Sam did get down"{describing harlem Square]
If you want to hear how he sounded in a hot, sweaty club with a great grooving small band, the Harlem Square Club version is the one you need to look up.
some??...how about most..absolutely love this song..was in a McDonald's a couple of days ago... this was playing...best Big Mac I've ever had..song sounds as fresh as ever
When Sam did this song in Houston at the Sam Houston Coliseum as part of a caravan of blues artists show the women went so wild, throwing underwear and bras on the stage and attempting to get to the star the police had to shut down the show. I had been to many concerts and this had never happened, it was crazy. When the lights came on it was over. However that night Sam treated the 'in crowd' to an impromptu show at the Palladium Ballroom on Southmore. It was fantastic.
Yes, I'm 71 but I am still a rocker and would not trade my history with music, the shows, the memories for a new lease on life. Life is great but not the music, not R&B, never will be as great as it was in the 60's.
My brothers and I were so fortunate to have seen most of the greats in their primes, Bobby Bland probably 10 times, the Temptations, Jackie Wilson, Chuck Jackson, James Brown, Al TNT Braggs, Otis Redding, Ike and Tina, The Miracles, and what was so great back then were the big road review shows with so many acts and we saw these performers in Milwaukee, Chicago and Houston. In Houston at the mecca of blues, Palladium Ballroom, up close and personal. I also saw the Beatles in Houston in Aug. 1965 two months before I was drafted. Actually my first rock and roll concert was 1957 Ricky Nelson in Houston. I consider myself the luckiest rocker alive and will attend a concert in Cleveland this October to see Marillion my favorite progressive rock band from England. My last R&B show was Baby Face in 2014.
Way ahead of his time. wrote n produced his own songs and was just about to launch his own record label. He'd be dead a year later Dec 11 1964. And under some seriously mysterious circumstances. Miss you Sam Cooke
