Coventry was the home of British motor manufacturing. Companies like Alvis, Armstrong Siddely, SS (Jaguar), Humber, Standard, Triumph, Hillman, Lea Francis, Riley, Lanchester and many many more. All gone now. I used to live just 6 miles from Coventry and made regular visits to the motor museum in the city centre. Essential for any visitor!

I live in Coventry. My Dad and Grandparents lived through the blitz, only about a mile from town centre . I remember their house had a few battle scars.
I really liked Coventry, I visited the cathedral for a concert earlier this year, it was an awesome venue. My hotel was quite historic as it used to be the old Coventry Evening Telegraph building.
I really would love to go back and stay in Coventry - we really didn't give ourselves enough time. Happy to hear that you also enjoyed your time there!

I'm rewatching your video on the 6th of June 2023 ,of course I'm sure you know its D Day When the Allies Landed in Normandy and started to clear the Nazi from Europe, Alot of young men's lives was the cost .LEST WE FORGET.
Great video as always Michelle. I really must visit Coventry Cathedral, especially as it's only an hour up the road for me! Also I'm guessing that had the stand off on the bridge happened in Canada both drivers would have reversed to let the other through.

I've spent much time in Coventry in recent years due to my son being there in university Although the modernist architecture is not universally liked, it does grow on you and you can imagine that it must have appeared striking when new in the early optimistic postwar years

Coventry was a marvellous old city little changed by time until November 1940. Very little of the old Coventry remains after the German visit.
I loved looking at pre-Blitz photographs and listening to Eric’s nana tell stories about her childhood. Sounded like a wonderful place to grow up!

Such a shame that the cathedral was lost, imagine how many magnificent buildings were lost around the country, especially in London.
