    Hope this episode has inspired some future London visitors! Kirsty and I had a blast exploring London and I loved watching her reactions as she saw these icons with her own eyes. I want to take a moment here to correct myself... Big Ben is located inside ELIZABETH TOWER not Victoria Tower (*face palm). It was originally called the Clock Tower until it was renamed in 2012 in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. One day I'll get it right, maybe when I finally climb it, until then happy exploring abroad community!

    As a person living in London I get so many tips for stuff to see from these videos. Thanks! I had no idea about that bar under Tower Bridge. Deffo going there soon.

    You can walk all the way from Tower Bridge to Westminster given the time, it gives you a chance to take in the Globe theatre, the Old Operating Theatre Museum (great but gruesome) and the London Eye. For the best views of the Palace of Westminster, go through the tunnel under Westminster Bridge and on to the Lambeth embankment, that's where a lot of the TV crews set up for pieces to camera. Finally just up an alley next to Westminster tube station you'll find St Stephens Tavern, an old pub which is a hangout for politicians and journalists, it has a division bell in the main bar that rings when a vote is taking place in the house of commons. Great video as always.

      I've walked by St. Stephens Tavern (not knowing what it was other than a pub) several times and haven't thought to go in! Thank you for these suggestions Howard!

    What a fantastic itinerary. So meticulously researched and efficiently carried out (as well as nicely documented on video). You must have been a coordinator or planner in a past life.
    At this point I think you probably know the ins and outs of London better than I do .... and I'm a born and bred Londoner!

      Wow, thank you Jimp Zee! I’m happy to hear that you saw value in this episode. I’ve always been known to have an organizational streak in me 😂 To be fair, I learn something new about London nearly every day (I doubt that will change!) - it’s constantly evolving!

    Hi, really enjoy your videos and just thought I’d give you a few suggestions for places to go in London - From were you started in this video at st pauls, I would walk just 5 mins towards the Barbican, to the Postman’s Park which has memorials to local heroes - Away from the parks in the centre of London, Victoria Park in the East End is a delight with canals running down two sides, if you follow one of them, you end up at the Thames at Limehouse....from there walk the Thames Path to Wapping High st to the Prospect of Whitby pub (at low tide you can get down to the ‘beaches ‘) Walk on to Tower Bridge - I’m guessing you have done Primrose Hill with the views of London - finally, I’m not sure if you are into cemeteries but Brompton Cemetery is stunning.....Hope these suggestions are of interest to you - happy wandering, Malc. (ps...Columbia Road Flower Market on Sunday’s is a must)

      Thank you for these suggestions Malcolm! I'm glad you have been enjoying the videos and this episode. I have had the pleasure of exploring Brompton Cemetery and Eric and I considered living in the Wapping area, but decided on Canary Wharf for our first flat at the time. I think the Thames Path is one of London's best planned assets! So much to explore.

    Good selection - I’d drop some of the touristy bits and add St Katherine Dock, the Sir John Soannes museum, and an old pub in Wapping or around Fleet Street

    • @ACanadianAbroadMichelle
      @ACanadianAbroadMichelle  Рік тому +2

      St. Katherine Docks would be a great alternative to the usual spots! Kirsty and I went to Sir John Soanes museum while she was here - it was great!

      I’d also recommend
      The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & UnNatural History and Denis Seaver’s house as well as Ye Old Mitre pub in Holborn and the Peasant in Farringdon. Camden Passage just up from Angel tube is worth a look as well

    Isn’t it Wellington Arch/Marble Arch that was going to be the original entrance to Buckingham palace?

    • @ACanadianAbroadMichelle
      @ACanadianAbroadMichelle  Рік тому +1

      Yeah now that I think of it, there were two arches that were being discussed in the broadcast. Wellington Arch is the original intended entrance - good catch Andy!
