It was, by far, the greatest experience of my life, I had so much fun, I met people from all over the world and I lived an amazing time because the locals made me feel at home, very friendly and receptive city. I've lived in San Diego for 51 years. It really has matured with so much to do and see. T.J. is a 20 minute drive. L.A. is close and Vegas. Skiing in the mountains, surfing. The worlds finest city and your video shows it off.

Yes..The craft beer industry here is in full bloom. We've won many 1st place , 2nd and 3rd place in national and international contest. Ballast point has amazing brews. Stone, 30th st. and Racer are excellent too. There was a sitcom called 'Life Of Reilly" in the 50's starring William Bendix.
In the video I visited Stone, Ballast Point, Mike Hess and Protector - to try to show the big, medium and small breweries. Can't wait to show it to you! I'll have to check out the 'Life of Reilly' sitcom - sounds fun!!

Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo are right next to each other. If you're strapped for time from enjoying the sun on the various beaches, I'd suggest sticking with Balboa Park. Less crowded. More relaxed. More diverse in terms of what you can see/do.
This is the one video people should watch. I watched the whole thing waiting to argue a point with you but you hit all the highlights and bucket list items---even Coronado. I’ve lived there off and on. I’m from Orange County ( just an hour and half north), went to college at Point Loma, later went to boot camp and really enjoyed life there. We only had four hours in San Diego. We got a couple top stops in, but we have SO MUCH MORE we should do on your list. Thankfully, we know we're coming back!

San Francisco is more condensed with culture, museums, and various fine cuisines. However, San Diego is that rare destination where you basically never have to plan for weather. Always a moderate temperature (unless the Santa Ana winds blow in). Sun almost always shining. Aside from the large Asian/Pacific Island community, I noticed many people from Portugal visit (outside of the Comic Con international crowd). Their temperature/environment is quite similar.
TWO MORE MUST SEE! USS Midway, a retired aircraft carrier. Tour the ship from the deep engine rooms to the top crow's nest where the ships Captain gave orders and had the best view of it all......... I ask you, how often do you have a chance to walk the deck of an Aircraft Carrier? Don't miss it. SECOND: Seaport Village, A large group of shops from candy stores, shirts, dresses, sea shale shop and a favorite of mine, the hat shop, Hundreds of hats from stylish, to the humerus, traditional cowboy to even bennie with helicopter blade on top. Parking free with stamped parking card. The shops line the harbor which often has Navy warships traveling from the base to sea. Next to this village is one of the tallest hotels on the west coast. Take the elevator to the top for a view of the harbor and city. They have an observation deck, and a nice bar if you care to relax with a drink.

Fine overview of "America's Favourite City" as it was called in the 1970's and beyond. As a San Diegan for much of my life I appreciated returning and sharing this enjoyable wee film with my Edinburgh wife. Here's an interesting fact about both Edinburgh & San Diego...they're Sister Cities and both have statues of Gaslamp's Bum and Greyfriar's Bobby.

Hey Lex, this all depends on budget. If you can afford a nice hotel there's the Hotel Circle, which has the major brands and is family friendly with pools etc - these are in the middle of everything so you can get to all of the attractions quickly. If you prefer staying by a beach/downtown there are hotels there, too. Motels are also a good option as they're more affordable and you're out having fun all day. If you want the real insider experience theres a real cute little bar in North Park named The Eagle! It rains gold there!!! Drinks are free for those who are willing :D

Also, there are some pretty cheap motel/hotels out there which aren't too bad when you're out all day and night because there's so much to do! I hope you get to San Diego soon!!!
Thanks Katja!! Amazingly, most of the beach areas have a free car park or off-street parking (again free). I know you have to pay at Oceanside and at some of the state beaches but you should be able to find free parking at the big ones: Mission Beach, Pacific Beach etc. The hard part is finding a space!! Downtown you usually have to pay. There is lots of street parking and there are parking lots which you can park in for the whole day, which are sometimes cheaper. Hope that helps!!

Hi Christine, we went in July and August. You would still have a great time in December. It will still be sunny in December but not as warm. You'll need a sweatshirt but not heavy jackets. So much to do in the winter because it's so mild. Have a great trip!!
Hi Aisha, it's up to what you and your family would prefer. San Diego Zoo is brilliant - and the Safari Park is something a bit different but a 40min drive away. The beaches are fun and Belmont Park has the attractions, so Mission Bay could be fun. I got sent a $20 off coupon code for Sea World, if that helps? It's in the description above - there's also a link that might help for offers with the Zoo etc. I'd probably recommend the Zoo, if you have kids. If you don't, shopping in Pacific Beach and then hiring a bike or walking down to Mission Beach would be fun...but then there's also Downtown and La Jolla too!! Hope you have fun!

La Jolla is the dream though!! Being able to walk to everything there is amazing!! We’ve been to Dublin but it was part of a Road Trip around Ireland. We went to the Guinness Factory and Temple Bar, which are all pretty touristy. We’ll have to go back and do a video, I guess!! It won’t be in time for your trip though, sorry!! You can’t go wrong in Dublin - everywhere has great people...and pubs!!
You forgot the Trolley & Seal Tour, they both can be done on the same day. I will say that if you can't Drive a Car that there is the SDMTS Trolley & Bus service. Sea World was another thing that I did when I was there in August of 2013. It may cost a little bit but it's WORTH-IT take a Prime Rib Dinner Cruse on Sunday Nights on Flag-Ships California Spirit. You won't want the night to end. That was the last thing I did the night before I had to come back to Boring & a very #UnAccessibleUtah.

If you want to grow your channel make sure you check out Derral Eves channel as he has some great tips to grow your channel and is a professional youtube analyst. Have fun in San Diego this summer. As a San Diegan for much of my life I appreciated returning and sharing this enjoyable wee film with my Edinburgh wife.
Here's an interesting fact about both Edinburgh & San Diego...they're Sister Cities and both have statues of Gaslamp's Bum and Greyfriar's Bobby.

Thanks Sophia!!! 😎 You’ll definitely need a car at some point but you could Uber everywhere. Most places are 20mins drive of each other so it depends on whether you would be happy to Uber or rent. Either way, you’ll have an amazing time!!

Hey Lex, this all depends on budget. If you can afford a nice hotel there's the Hotel Circle, which has the major brands and is family friendly with pools etc - these are in the middle of everything so you can get to all of the attractions quickly. If you prefer staying by a beach/downtown there are hotels there, too. Motels are also a good option as they're more affordable and you're out having fun all day. You forgot to mention Sea World near Belmont Park. Also the World Famous Restaurant on. Mission Bld and Pacific Ave. Great food and sister restaurant to Fat Fish. Breakfast at Brian’s 24 on Broadway and 6th Ave.

Thanks Irina!! We're really lucky that we have friends and family we can stay with. We've also started House Swapping, which we've made a video about, actually. Also, there are some pretty cheap motel/hotels out there which aren't too bad when you're out all day and night because there's so much to do! I hope you get to San Diego soon!!!

Thanks Katja!! Amazingly, most of the beach areas have a free car park or off-street parking (again free). I know you have to pay at Oceanside and at some of the state beaches but you should be able to find free parking at the big ones: Mission Beach, Pacific Beach etc. The hard part is finding a space!! Downtown you usually have to pay. There is lots of street parking and there are parking lots which you can park in for the whole day, which are sometimes cheaper. Hope that helps!!

Hi Christine, we went in July and August. You would still have a great time in December. It will still be sunny in December but not as warm. You'll need a sweatshirt but not heavy jackets. So much to do in the winter because it's so mild. Have a great trip!!

Hi Aisha, it's up to what you and your family would prefer. San Diego Zoo is brilliant - and the Safari Park is something a bit different but a 40min drive away. The beaches are fun and Belmont Park has the attractions, so Mission Bay could be fun. I got sent a $20 off coupon code for Sea World, if that helps? It's in the description above - there's also a link that might help for offers with the Zoo etc. I'd probably recommend the Zoo, if you have kids. If you don't, shopping in Pacific Beach and then hiring a bike or walking down to Mission Beach would be fun...but then there's also Downtown and La Jolla too!! Hope you have fun!

That's the problem with San Diego: too many great places to eat!!! We were going to make a video of our favourite places but didn't have time to get around to it!! Next time!!! La Jolla is the dream though!! Being able to walk to everything there is amazing!! We’ve been to Dublin but it was part of a Road Trip around Ireland. We went to the Guinness Factory and Temple Bar, which are all pretty touristy. We’ll have to go back and do a video, I guess!! It won’t be in time for your trip though, sorry!! You can’t go wrong in Dublin - everywhere has great people...and pubs!!
You forgot the Trolley & Seal Tour, they both can be done on the same day. I will say that if you can't Drive a Car that there is the SDMTS Trolley & Bus service. Sea World was another thing that I did when I was there in August of 2013. It may cost a little bit but it's WORTH-IT take a Prime Rib Dinner Cruse on Sunday Nights on Flag-Ships California Spirit. You won't want the night to end. That was the last thing I did the night before I had to come back to Boring & a very #UnAccessibleUtah.

Love San Diego but California has ruined it with extremely high taxes, record homelessness, and development everywhere. Its a great place to visit, but get the hell out once your done.
