Big V8 diesel but it's not that dependable. That's why she's gonna get rid of it. I mean it's got 187.000km on it, and all of our customers get rid of their cars before they hit 200.000km

Such an under appreciated vehicle. My parents bought an 04 sequoia brand new off the show room floor. My siblings and I grew up in it. We traveled everywhere in it. My dad is gone now and I’m the proud owner of the vehicle. My dads seat was empty for years, but now my boy fills that seat along with my wife who drive in it every day. 200k+ miles and has never let us down. When my day comes, my son will drive it and pass it down to his son one day.

I had a 2003 Sequoia rear wheel drive. It had about 187k miles when I bought it. It hadn't been taken care of. I did a full maintenance and preventative maintenance on it myself. I drove that thing to over 328k miles before I spun it off the road backwards on an icy Highway, The tow hitch dug into the soft shoulder and it flipped end over end and then started rolling longitudinally. I rolled around 270 ft before landing on all 4. The Sequoia was still running and I had VERY minor injuries. I picked up all my belongings and drove it at a shallow angle up the soft steep embankment and drove it 100 miles home in 13f weather. I stopped once to pry the rocks out of the wheel bead and fill the tires with air. That was the only mechanical concern I had. That beast made it 100 miles home, into the garage and out several months later when Insurance finally came to tow it off. The tow truck driver asked if it ran, it started instantly and he drove it on his flatbed. I'm actually looking to get rid of the 21 Tundra I bought to replace it and am searching for a 4x4 2nd gen sequoia. They're not perfect, but I wouldn't hesitate to trust them with my life for a second. 328K miles and it ran like a top after 187k of poor treatment.

I got $2200 less for my Tacoma than when I bought it and was feeling transmission issues and rear end issues in it already. Got out of my payment and paid cash difference for a 179k mile sequoia that drives excellent. Given a few negligible small issues, like the hatch handle is stuck, but I can open it from the inside, hatch window motor is siezed, TPMS light on because all sensors needs replaced etc. Overall, super comfortable SUV, I have the bench seat in the back so I can haul 8 instead of 7 adults, even came with Nav radio. I have a 3 mile drive to work so I'm not worried about the mileage, just like the Civic I was driving before it. Scotty, I've been watching you for years. Our 2006 Sequoia SR5 4X4 has been rock solid. Preventative maintenance and a few common failure items like the rear door latch have given us a heck of a vehicle. 176K miles strong and I would take this thing from Florida to Alaska without any concerns. Toyota hit it out of the park on the Gen 1 Sequoia. We will be buying a new one when the next generation is out for a few years. Thanks for your videos Scotty!

      Absolutely false!
It doesn’t cost thousands, it is closer to $800 for parts and labor. The manifold is the part that has the issue, not the engine.
It has to do with the design of the manifolds, weight and ability to pass emissions.
I know because I have dealt with this issue on my 4Runner.

      That’s YOUR mechanic.
I’ve experienced the same problem, but I paid under $1,000 for mine. As previously stated, IT’S NOT THE ENGINE! It IS the manifolds. If you put headers on there, they won’t crack.
You probably pay a ton for your oil changes too. 😂

I have an '07 4x4 limited Sequoia with the 4.7L V8 and 8-passenger seating. I bought it privately, but I had a dealer use the VIN# to print off the original window sticker. It showed $49,000. I'm unsure what was actually paid. As for me, I bought it for $12,000 about 4 years ago and it's been a champ. At the time, the next gen 2008 Sequoias were going for $6,000 more. That wasn't in my budget and it would have been overkill for me to get the 5.7L. Overall, I'm very pleased with the '07. I don't know too much about the competition, but Scotty made a solid recommendation.

    Only issue is the frames
I had a 01 tundra , same as the sequoia.
It had frame rot and I bought it after the replacement offer passed.
But the engine and transmission were awesome.
The suspension and any component that could rust are a big problem for these In the rust belt
Otherwise a great truck / suv

My 2007 has 175K miles and runs super strong. Modified with Cold air intake, long tube headers and full exhaust plus a tune.

I bought an '01 4x4 example of a Sequoia a week before you uploaded this video. It was $3000 with 225,000 miles. Did a full timing belt service first thing, and it's running like a top. 17 MPG calculated on the trip home. Makes me feel great that for once I was thinking one step ahead of you, Scotty! 4Runners, Tundras, and Tacomas are all twice as expensive for examples in similar condition. I took the seats out of the back and will be building a platform for camping trips. My daily driver gets 40 MPG, so having a guzzler for forest service roads is OK in my book.

Just bought an 03 Sequoia a month ago. Runs perfect, love it. But yeah, it's a gas guzzler.

So I had an 08 V8 pathfinder. Well it took a crap on me! You literally put this out when I was looking to replace it with a sequoia! Thank you for this! I can buy one outright and beside a worn seat it’s totally worth it
