Sennheisers were always my go to for headsets (before I switched to an amp/dac, good headphones, and good condenser mic) and I was always impressed by the mic quality and sound stage of them. Like they're not as good as say spending $400 on a "decent" setup, but for how much they did cost (I used to go ONLY for the 363D, which were about $75 on sale, because the 373D had a worse mic quality but still good soundstage) they were an easy "budget" pick for years. I'm not surprised Drop has made them slightly cheaper and they still keep the same quality considering Sennheiser has been around for so long now that just taking their design and hardware and just cutting some of the cost off of it would keep the same quality sound and microphone.
I really really really want them to review the head amame headphones it is a 3d printable housing for speaker drivers that you build yourself. The parts and files are found as a kit on vector finesse's website, every review I have seen says they sound better than nearly any other headphone because it uses speakers that are found in extremely high end headphones but buying the speakers alone costs significantly less, the entire headphones themselves only cost a little over 100 dollars including the speakers, pads, head strap, printer filament. Budget doesn't mean bad Drop/massdrop does lol Do you want to wait 1-60 months for a group buy that has all the disadvantages of a small group buy, but without the cost savings? but still a solid shot the product won't arrive in usable condition? Then buy from drop!
0:23 I actually bought these, but the Bluetooth feature broke after only 8 months. It can no longer use Bluetooth, only play extremely loud white noise.
Any chance you guys wana do a follow up on the drop panda headsets? That you guys did a bang up job on recommending only for them being bricked for many owners, international owners were screwed over big time by drop.
Pretty curious to know what kind of issues you have with wireless headphones at your desk I've been using wireless for about a year now, a cloud fight S, and ONCE have i had to unplug/replug the dongle, that was the only issue ever (dongle simply disconnected), few months ago. and i'm a 10+ hrs use per day every day type of user. Again, just curious :D
I’ve got the H6 Pro with the little CSX300 amp, one of the best sounding headsets I’ve had. And I se Sennheisers Too. Got them on Black Friday for €161,50
Those volume knobs are cheap. Those are exact to the sennheisers from drop. They end up falling off. Also they end up having static when you move the volume. Hey, the mic was good tho. 🤷♂️
You are making the $80 sound like $15, some perspective please. You shouldn't have to spend 250 on headphones to expect premium build and sound. Stop enabling these companies.
I maintain that the Massdrop to Drop rebranding was one of the worst moves ever by a small org that had just made a name for itself The fact that LTT/short circuit still points this out every time they feature a product from Drop is all the evidence necessary
Looks like a decent pair of headphones. I quite like using AKG studio headphones. They have a nice flat response curve, so they're quite true to the sound that was intended, rather than AKG's idea of that sound. Wired only, high inpedence, so they need to be driven by something fairly powerful, but it's so worth it if you have all the parts in place.
That's what I keep telling to people that keep suggesting like used audio gear instead of headphones. The most suggested are the hd560s, they are 150 ohms, if you just plug them in the back of your PC like nothing, you're leaving a lot performance on the table. And not all people will be willing to move from a 80 bucks headset to like, USED Gear + mic + amp
@Thunder Arch you're right about that. For the most part I use the studio headphones through an actual amp, pedal or sound card because, like you say, they can't be driven by a phone or computer to anywhere near their full potential. For everyday earphones I use Sony WF-C500. They're cheap, have good battery life, and decent sound. The don't have ANC or any other fancy features, but at the price point they're pretty much perfect for me. Everything else goes through an AV receiver. That controls my TV, console and laptop. I've also got a little Bluetooth adapter to solve the headphone jack crisis that smartphones are facing these days.
Why do headphone manufacturers constantly put the cable connection on the left ear, when 90% of PC users have their PC on their right side? My corsair virtuoso's are guilty of this too.
Why would 90% of users have their PC on their right side? If you're right handed so have a mouse pad on the right and have your PC on a desk it seems likely you'd have it on the left. I do.
Just for your renaming of videos people: I saw this vid with the old name, something in the line of "budget does not mean bad", and just remembered it, that I wanted to watch that video! Now it's renamed.
I had no idea they released a GSX1000 v2. From someone that's used the original GSX1000 for years, the refresh seems... Confusing at best. They really could've done more with it.
Yeah, it looks like it's mostly USB-C, better volume knob, and improved mic audio to 16/48 (thank goodness). USB-C and 16/48 are worthwhile improvements but not enough to really tempt me. Now if they also increased the power output...
The Drop x THX Panda headphones were such a massive disappointment. They didn’t deliver what was initially promised and then pretty quickly abandoned it after release. Their response to issues throughout the entire process was pretty bad. That experience gave me trust issues with Drop being able to support their own products. The Panda headphones could have been really great. They sound really good…when they work, and you get the tuning right. Maybe for $80 these might be worth taking the risk. But there’s a lot of competition at this price point under well known brands that are more likely to be reliable and you might be able to get some kind of support if needed. Steelseries and Logitech come to mind. Logitech has wireless headset for around $40, I think, that will get most people by just fine.
Drop collabing is essentially just a distribution deal. It's actually crazy to me how much effort they make to help customer complaints (though, granted some of the manufacturers have non existent support in NA). You just go to THX as if you had any other of their products. This is just a place to get a special price.
@@SquintyGears For the collabs and the products they design, this is absolutely not true. Drop does have regular distribution deals on a lot of products. But even as noted in this video, this collab is a different product than what EPOS offers. So the price isn't reduced just because of distribution, it's reduced because something was done to make this a Drop branded product. And Drop absolutely fronts support for these. THX didn't design the Panda headphones, nor the DAC/AMP Drop sells. THX is just a prominent feature of the hardware. Drop was on the line for support for the Panda headphones. And Drop, well, dropped the ball on it really badly. There was yet another company involved in finishing the firmware, which was probably the source of the biggest issues. If I went to THX to try to get support, they'd tell me to go somewhere else.
I wouldnt say these are budget, this is about the price range you should be paying for an accessory that will likely ware out in under 2 years with regular use.
If these are anything like the PC37X, they are going to be trash. I returned those and got a pair of Steelseries Arctis 7P on BF for $80! They're much better!
I'm really disappointed in this review. You show the manufacturers frequency response but don't show LTT labs results. In addition, you don't display a comparison Harman (or other) curve.
For the asking price I'd probably still go with the HyperX cloud alpha That headset sure might be old at this point but it doesn't disappoint in sound quality or positional awareness

What infuriates me is you keep calling stuff "budget" or "cheap" when its an $80 pair of headphones or $120 keyboard THATS EXPENSIVE ASF WHY YOU DO THIS when I think budget, its a $30 keyboard or a $20 headset
Budget doesn't mean bad
Drop/massdrop does lol
Do you want to wait 1-60 months for a group buy that has all the disadvantages of a small group buy, but without the cost savings? but still a solid shot the product won't arrive in usable condition? Then buy from drop!
Ok, my main question is: how can an amp be a "gaming" amp? Does it just have RBG lights slapped on top of it and that's it?
0:23 I actually bought these, but the Bluetooth feature broke after only 8 months. It can no longer use Bluetooth, only play extremely loud white noise.
I know we always talk about the audio in terms of the user, but how is the sound leak for other people in the room?
Any chance you guys wana do a follow up on the drop panda headsets? That you guys did a bang up job on recommending only for them being bricked for many owners, international owners were screwed over big time by drop.
The title is this video changed like 17 times already? Can't wait to see the new name tomorrow
Pretty curious to know what kind of issues you have with wireless headphones at your desk
I've been using wireless for about a year now, a cloud fight S, and ONCE have i had to unplug/replug the dongle, that was the only issue ever (dongle simply disconnected), few months ago.
and i'm a 10+ hrs use per day every day type of user.
Again, just curious :D
I’ve got the H6 Pro with the little CSX300 amp, one of the best sounding headsets I’ve had. And I se Sennheisers
Too. Got them on Black Friday for €161,50
cool sweater bud
PSA, don't use manscaped's electric razor on any part of your nethers. Don't do it. You'll quickly learn that it isn't a good idea.
Those volume knobs are cheap. Those are exact to the sennheisers from drop. They end up falling off. Also they end up having static when you move the volume. Hey, the mic was good tho. 🤷♂️
I wonder why JAK cables are still a thing
Yeah, the Pandas were real great, until they "Drop"ped support for them before even the kickstarters of them were out of warranty.
You are making the $80 sound like $15, some perspective please. You shouldn't have to spend 250 on headphones to expect premium build and sound. Stop enabling these companies.
EPOS is NOT a subsidiary of Sennheiser
I maintain that the Massdrop to Drop rebranding was one of the worst moves ever by a small org that had just made a name for itself
The fact that LTT/short circuit still points this out every time they feature a product from Drop is all the evidence necessary
VOLUME/AUDIO LEVELS LOWER THAN NORMAL..... please check and advise
I'd buy these for my bud for the mic alone, very good
I really want bluetooth earbuds with side tone. Cant find ANY!
No Frequency Response graph from the lab?
Sorry, but in a world where the Cooler Master MH751/MH752 exists....
Yeah a lot of these so called gaming headphones seem over rated why would've you just buy a pair from a legit sound company......
Wow, $80 headphones are now budget headphones
gaming headset is overrated. I bought IEM that cost $80 and it does way better than gaming headset. Even bluetooth headphone is better.
Any headset under $100 id considered budget
Why do headphone manufacturers constantly put the cable connection on the left ear, when 90% of PC users have their PC on their right side? My corsair virtuoso's are guilty of this too.
Easier to put it on the same side as the mic if you have a single connection. Why not put your computer on the left?
Why would 90% of users have their PC on their right side? If you're right handed so have a mouse pad on the right and have your PC on a desk it seems likely you'd have it on the left. I do.
@@thebighectares obviously people want to look in the side panel window and see their RGB :P
Just for your renaming of videos people: I saw this vid with the old name, something in the line of "budget does not mean bad", and just remembered it, that I wanted to watch that video! Now it's renamed.
Neither the Xbox series or the PS5 have audio out on the console as apparently we don't need it.
@@Astrophizz increased power output would've definitely made it worthwhile for me as well
Can u guys also review Logitech G502 X Lightspeed Plus
I am craving to if it is even good
That's a Christmas jumper you'd get of your gran if I ever saw one 😂
@@bedast ok, i probably would still have tried it. Their name is still on it.
Bro's playing wingman (2v2) and says I killed three 😂
I wouldnt say these are budget, this is about the price range you should be paying for an accessory that will likely ware out in under 2 years with regular use.
I think only Canadians would get this, but I have to make this because of the title: The grocery store is popping off.
Make a review of the fifine h6, it's a Chinese brand headphone but their microphones are good, so maybe it is good
If these are anything like the PC37X, they are going to be trash. I returned those and got a pair of Steelseries Arctis 7P on BF for $80! They're much better!
is 80 dollars budget?
Man if 79$ is considered budget then I am broke lmao
Title says: "Budget" doesn't mean "Bad"! Review says: It's pretty bad! WTF?!
Dam that mic sounds solid
I'm really disappointed in this review. You show the manufacturers frequency response but don't show LTT labs results. In addition, you don't display a comparison Harman (or other) curve.
It's weird how they act like $80 is nothing and you should expect mediocre and not even Bluetooth.
It looks very cheap. I feel like Steelseries looks like higher quality for the same price and you even get a metal headband depending on the model
Nice, never heard sound quality as "farty". Thank you for the video.
For the asking price I'd probably still go with the HyperX cloud alpha
That headset sure might be old at this point but it doesn't disappoint in sound quality or positional awareness
Ew
Can y'all review the wired and wireless arctis nova pros?
