What is this small african countries obsession with comparing to Nigeria? Nigeria is larger, more diverse and richer. Find countries with similar demographics and economic situation to compare yourselves to. Nigeria can be compared to Egypt and South Africa. Every other country is in a junior league. Having said this, People should be more concerned with pushing their craft and letting the market decide if it's good enough.

Nigerians are too busy to care about Ghana. Ghana is competing with someone who doesn't know they exist.

Nigerians have laboured to get to where they are today on many levels without government intervention.
Nigerians have leaned to be tenacious and resilient, and to do without government support. We didn't arrive overnight. Our industries have gone through levels and phases of growth to being globally accepted.
Be it music or movie industry we've come of age due to hard work and consistency, rather than government support. If you doubt me, go check Afrobeat music and Nollywood movies of say 8 to 10 years ago and you will understand.

Ghanaians you people envy too much!!! You envy yourselves and that’s why it’s difficult for progress to take root in all your entertainment industry. Do your thing and stop trying to pull Nigerians down. The Nigerian artist and actors struggled to be what they are today without government help.

The simple reason Nigerian movies are doing better than any other African nation is because of their hustle spirit. Not loans, not any government assistance etc.

Colonial or not, English is more widely spoken than any other language on every continent you can find not just English speakers but English speaking countries. So if you want to tap into the English speaking market you have to atleast do parts of the song in English no matter how small or make it very very catchy

I posted this on another post. It applies here too:
These conversations and their kind going on around the continent is irrational. How do you even ban a kind of music in an age of the internet? Will you ban UA-cam and other places where music can be gotten?
Up your game and people will listen. Asking that Nigerian songs should not be played is an admission of mediocrity. You are simply saying you are unable to compete and the competition must be taken out.
The Nigerian music you are all having these talkshows over was born out of intense competition of the best challenging the best in Nigeria. The songs, the videos and everything have improved to the point that we don't need to listen to even American songs anymore. Now those American artistes are seeking Nigerian acts to work with.
You fucking compete or you go back to the village.
Jerusalema was one of the top hits in Nigeria last year even though we don't know what was there. We don't complain. Awilo reigned some years back. We don't complain.
Nigerians are socialized differently grom most othet Africans. If you don't understand that basic competitiveness to be the best of the pack, you will have these talks for ages.
Seeing all these over analyzing of the influence of Nigerian music tells me many of your music artistes are so far behind in contemporary African music that you don't even realize it.
You are also forgetting that you are referring to a country that is 200M strong and with a large diaspora population. How do you even begin to compare that?
Government won't help you. You can support what is played on your radios all you want but you are dealing with a generation that gets content on their phones. How do you regulate that? Music content is now more personalized in its delivery.
This talk is based on a world that has shifted under yout feet.

Since you always comparing with Nigeria, you should also learn from them. Nigeria has over 200 languages and there are TV and Radio shows conducted in local languages otherwise when you are on air you are being watched and listened to all over the world, so what is it with all this vernacular you are speaking? you are not learning at all, it is good that we promote our culture and heritage but we should do that with common sense.
