Cam this video was funny but rather one sided, unlike most of your other videos that I've seen. Personally, Im pro-immigration, but I think you go overboard on painting the immigration debate as americans who think brown ppl icky vs americans who are pro-immigration. Anecdotally, this conversation seems much more reasonable in 2024 than it has in the past.
I have many republican friends (republicans in a very blue state so...) who take issue with how immigration is being done from a fiscal perspective rather than the number of immigrants or where they come from. Over the long-term immigrants start businesses, spend money on services, and contribute to growing the labor force. However, in the short-term concentrated numbers of immigrants moving into high cost of living areas seems to result in substantial over-reliance on government services.
Congrats on the sponsor though, nice to see sponsorships start on this channel.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to report this video to they are not immigrants they are asylum seekers.... You seem to not even grasp the most basic aspects of the problem. yet you made it twenty five minute video pretending you're an expert.. People coming to this country under asylum seekers or refugees get a bunch of money they get processed very quickly they get taken care of better than me you or any of our family members ever have.
Do some research google "aid for asylum seekers", "aid for refugees......."
It's weird to me you can be confidently so incorrect about things no one tells you that you're just talking out your ****....
The American job market is full of ghost jobs. Bro you probably became a content creator because nobody would hire you. That's why I started a business because nobody would hire me.
The American job market is so horrible Americans are just making their own jobs...........
Are these video documentaries supposed to be satirical? I guess I'll start finding enjoyment out of how completely ridiculous and ask backwards your viewpoint is.
You made fun of Alex Jones but yet you yourself completely missed the root issue and the actual problem about the topic that you're failing to communicate about........ The irony lol
Job good job rambling incoherently about a bunch of unrelated things that have the same keywords involved so you think they're related....... lol

Most Americans do not realize that the Patriot Act allows the Border Patrol to stop anyone and confiscate anything within 100 miles of the border, a region containing more than half the population, and most of the latin and black population, effectively removing fourth amendment protections without any due process at all, on the whim of officers. The fact about immigrants and crime is hilarious. As an immigrant who knew people growing up that were undocumented at times we're usually n pins and needles and go the extra mile to stay OUT of trouble because something as simple as a traffic stop can lead to detention and deportation. Especially back then. Undocumented folks usually don't even call the police for legitimate crimes perpetrated against them because they know it involves dealing with Police who will ask for ID and other things they may lack. This rolls over into healthcare as well. I knew someone who was injured working undocumented and almost lost his leg because he wouldn't/couldn't go for healthcare, afraid of deportation.

immigrants and crime do have a connection bc the amazing people your taking about are trying their best not to be caught. meanwhile, there are crazy horrible immigrants that DO cause trouble, sex traffic, and drug traffic.
its easy for all of them to be labeled as bad bc they come in the country the same way. i wish all immigrants were like how you described, but sadly its not the case, and ignoring it will not solve the discrimination they face.

I grew up in Arizona and lived in an immigrant heavy town. What bothers me a lot is the characterization of illegal immigrants being inherently leechy and criminal, even subhuman in a way.
I had friends who were children of illegal immigrants. All of them were hard working people. I knew for a fact that some of them were saving up money to become citizens (becoming a citizen isn't cheap to people who don't have money and aren't able to get well paying jobs). Staying in an illegal status is just living on borrowed time, as you could get swept up at any time and deported. I had classmates whom this happened to.
Illegal immigrants from South of the border are often desperate people. Escaping a government that is corrupt and a nation controlled by the cartels.
The dead bodies of immigrants in the Arizona desert is enough to show their despiration. It also shows how little some Americans see these immigrants as people. Focusing more on things like the litter these immigrants leave (because how hard could it be to carry your trash to the nearest trash can in the middle of the Sonoran Desert?) than the actual reasons why these people are forced to tempt fate in the desert rather than go the legitimate way.
Immigration is a complicated issue, which is why it's controversial. Of course people take advantage of the systems, I mean, even the politicians of this country do that.
But I do have an issue with the sheer dehuminization of human beings because they "didn't do immigration the right way". When a corpse is found in the desert, they are made out to be more of a warning, like nailing the a severed head of a traitor above the gates of a castle, than human beings who in despiration fled their country and died doing it.

Most of us Conservatives do NOT think immigrants are inherently bad people. I’ve worked with Mexican immigrants on job sites and they’re some of the nicest, hardest-working people I’ve ever met.
The problem is that we are opening borders and letting literally anybody in (even non-asylum seekers). We don’t have the resources to take care of our own homeless and/or downtrodden citizens, yet we are busing in immigrants by the thousands??? Then on top of that, we are spending MILLIONS in tax dollars to house them and feed them?? I understand compassion, but how is this sustainable, and how is it fair to our own people???

I'm an African immigrant and used to date a fellow African immigrant who was hella mean to undocumented immigrants. I've never been so irritated when he said, "I paid to come here the right way and they should too", like this ninja didn't already tell me the story of how his family finessed and borrowed to bring him here - he was lucky to be born into a situation that allowed him to use the "right process" 🙄. I bet most of these people who are so vocally hateful towards undocumented immigrants would do the same thing if they were born into the situations those people are born into today. I'm lucky my ancestors weren't forced into slavery, I'm lucky my mom had the means to bring me to the US, and I am lucky to have a comfortable life today. The immigration laws also affect people in ways that were unexpected. A lot of Korean children that were adopted got deported in their adult lives due to their adopted parents' negligence in applying for their citizenship. These are people who usually have never been to Korea or around a Korean community, so they do not speak the language or know about the customs/cultures. They essentially get dumped into a country they know nothing about.

Love that these keep getting better. As someone who immigrated to the US as a kid from Brazil and went through the entire immigration process to become a citizen, it fucking sucks. It’s long, it’s expensive, and if you don’t have resources it’s nearly impossible to complete correctly. There are tons of appointments you have to go to at artbirary offices, you need to get medical exams and vaccines, and you need to double check the government’s work because they fuck up. I remember at some point they messed up my country of birth and it caused a multi month delay - for some shit some random government employee fucked up on. My mom was smart, prepared, was already fluent in English before we moved here, and knew that she had to do everything possible to make the process as fast as possible so that I could become a citizen before I turned 18 to avoid even more legal shit, and it still took forever. It’s not easy to stay here even when you spend your entire life here. It would’ve been ridiculous to deport us if things didn’t go according to plan. It was incredibly stressful knowing that there was a chance I would never be able to work jobs here, or maybe even worst case have to return to a country that was so bad that my mom risked everything for us to leave. It fundamentally changes a person even if you succeed in getting to stay here forever. The system hardly works right now and it should definitely be improved on all fronts since even the “winners” pay a difficult to quantify cost.

The sad reality is that alot of migrants (surprisingly in europe too when i asked locals in prague) think that the USA is a magical land where all they need to do is work whtever job and thats it. They think as soon as they get there, thats all they need to do. Even worse, they go hoping their child would be one of those success stories they always hear about, and that can put incredible pressure on the kids. They never hear all the horrors and the real hardships of the everyday american/migrant person.

I actually overstayed a visa in Canada a year and there's stress involved with being undocumented somewhere. I have a lot of sympathy for people who are fighting a system that is apparently designed to be as opaque and difficult as possible. And politicians, partly of the Trump party, have zero desire to solve it because they think keeping voters angry and afraid is their path to winning elections.
I live in Southern Arizona and have been along the border in spots from Texas to Arizona. Let's just say in general it is desolate, quiet and you're often the only person for miles, apart from a bored border agent sitting in his truck. There is an immigration problem in this country, but it's not a crisis. The problem is that we have a system that is awful and often inhumane. And that once again is on politicians who won't lift a finger to do anything constructive.
Also, for many Mexican families in my part of Tucson, their ancestors never crossed the border. Due to the Gadsen purchase, the border crossed them.

while i understand the empathetic side of the argument, this has a serious economic cost. at some point its just straight up not fiscally possible to continue. its already pretty disgusting that they're stripping the money away from the other social programs to support people who knowingly sneak into a country for perceived benefits. theres plenty of people coming into the country who are coming here for the right reasons and want to contribute and build a life for themselves, but we cant act like there arent opportunistic individuals who are seizing the weak policies being enforced by our government. theres a better way to do this, and we're making a mess of it all

Imma sound nerdy as shit but just hear me out. The founder of Steam, the biggest game marketplace ever, was able to make piracy less popular than buying games traditionally. His idea was that the consumers will more often do what is right, and what is convenient. It may be naive to compare this to immigration, but it applies pretty well. We should focus more streamlining the process of getting here the legal way, rather than making a big ass wall to block it all off. If we make it easier to get in and faster, less people will hop the fence. I think then we could consider getting stronger border protection. But for now, it's our fault. Also, I know the government makes the process of getting in legally difficult as shit, knowing how hard it is just to get a license renewal.

When it comes to immigration from Latin America, I'm reminded of this story about a whole town in Mexico capturing a major cartel leader and all hell breaking loose. Upon his capture, the cartel shut down the whole city, no way in or out. The whole city broke out in gunfire. And then the most shocking thing for me...they knew the homes of the officers and took apartment complexes hostage (not just the families of the officers). In the end, the police were brought to their knees and they let the leader go.
I can't even frickin fathom that. Imagine trying to leave your home and a military grade jeep is camped at the end of the road, ready to shoot you. Assuming they even let you walk out the front door. After I saw that, it really put into perspective the heinous things happening there. This incident was in a Mexican city, but it's not a one-off. I would absolutely take my chances and head for the U.S. I fault none of them for running away when the corruption and weakness of the government and police leads to situations like that. Unless the U.S. is willing to do something drastic for their countries to give them a reason to remain there, it's just way too dangerous to stay.

How are we supporting more people if we aren't even supporting the people we have here already? Most citizens are already being hit financially with the major rise in food prices and home/rent prices. That's the issue most people are on edge about. Then you allow so many more people with open borders. The question is why? It goes beyond race. The reason is one...to suppress wages...and two to fill the military ranks. The elites are the ones who will profit from all this. It's just another way for the wealthy to exploit the working class. If someone doesn't like another human because of their race color gender etc. then imo those people are ignorant and really not worth my time. This whole situation is class war and I hope most people wake up to that.

    • @boochi7087
      @boochi7087 7 місяців тому

The point is that the "more people" isn't why we aren't able to support the people we have here already. Did you see the video of Jon Stewart questioning the US Defense Deputy Secretary on the fact that despite the painfully hilarious amount of money they're allocated from our taxes, they can't seem to tell us how that money is being spent? Yeah, your government is squandering your taxes on everything and "supporting the people" isn't as much of a priority as having the best military in the whole world or paying a congress that can't seem to get any work done for their constituents. As an immigrant, I find it so embarrassing when Americans try to punish the weakest and most vulnerable people for the failings of the country instead of the poor leadership they keep electing.

@@CamJamesA deeper understanding of the economic impacts of immigration can help people who are open to listening become less inclined to oppose immigration. A simplistic overview of an individual’s economic impact can help us realize that the typical immigrant supplies more than they demand. While I was born in the US and was demanding resources for the entirety of my unproductive childhood, only to begin contributing to the supply of goods and services around age twenty, immigrants often show up at age twenty ready to work, with all the resources that go into raising a human already spent by another country.
It’s a rarely discussed point. People not born here supply more than they demand simply for age and life cycle reasons. Before even considering the fact that undocumented immigrants often actively avoid signing up for various benefits. People hating on immigrants and inflation in the same sentence have no idea what food might cost without migrant labor

I don’t think anything is wrong with a border wall it may be expensive and pointless, but people put walls around their property line. If the politicians actually cared about the economy and illegal immigration they would earmark money from the defence budget and 10x the immigration department, give them work visas and socials and tax them. The US is in a deficit we need people to work so we can tax them and take their hard earned money. I don’t get why a country wouldn’t want a bunch of hard working immigrants to come. We need cash flow and immigrants are perfect for that. Give them socials so we can tax them.

We lived in the East Side neighborhood in Chicago, my mom taught ESL to immigrants from all over the globe and my block/neighborhood was predominantly immigrants. Polish, Greek, Mexican, South America, etc. my babysitter growing up was an older Scottish woman with a thick brogue that sounded like music when she spoke. I was also raised in a fundamentalist Christian belief system that thankfully I left behind when I realized it didn’t mesh well with loving others and being a good person. I grew up hearing other languages daily. My parents each spoke a second language. from a very young age I knew there were all kinds of other people that existed and I’m so grateful I’ve always been able to see the humanity in others despite the outside propaganda and influences trying to convince me as a white woman that I’m somehow superior or different or better than anyone else. The fact is, the racist immigration system makes it so immigrants are second class citizens in the US. Some may argue that because they aren't citizens, they can't be second class citizens, but that withholding of citizenship itself is what designates them as second class.
They pay taxes, contribute to the economy, and often are part of communities for decades in the US. The only difference is that they don't get a lot of privileges citizens do, and have a constant stressor about their status expiring or being revoked for legal immigrants, or being found and deported in the case of undocumented immigrants.
In the olden days, many countries didn't give women citizenship because they were seen as second class and subservient to their husbands. Everyone can recognize that the withholding of citizenship was the method to designate women as second class citizens back then, so they should be able to recognize how that same method of exclusion applies today to immigrants.
And coupled with the quotas from countries that make it easier for Europeans to immigrate than Latin Americans and Asians (idk how it is in relation to Africans) which keeps Europeans in the immigration process for a shorter time, the designation of immigrants as second class often means a designation by race as well.

@@mandalorian5038 So, you're of the opinion that people should have less rights if they break a single, non-violent admnistrative law, no matter how far in the past it was? If you smoked a cigar at 17, should your right to vote be taken away? What if you forgot to file taxes one year? Fibbed to get out of jury duty? Shoplifted a candy bar? Fished without a permit?
If we held everyone to the standard that you hold undocumented immigrants to, a majority of US born citizens would lose their citizenship. If you do support revoking citizenship for the offenses I listed above, you're in favor of a tyrannical, unjust government, and if you don't support it, you have a higher standard for people that are from out of the country, which is an inherently xenophobic and nationalistic take.
Also, you're just wrong about illegal immigrants being criminals because they statistically commit less crimes than the domestic population, probably out of fear of getting deported. If you want to label all of them as criminals, citizens are worse criminals. It doesn't matter whether it was the first act or the millionth act they did in a country. I could just as easily turn that statement around and say citizens are worse because they have a privilege but are ungrateful for it amd are making their own country worse than even outsiders do. But that wouldn't be fair to the citizens, and in the same vein, your statement isn't fair to immigrants.
The worst part of all of this is that undocumented immigrants are often the poorest and most disenfranchised people. They're undocumented because they don't have the resources to go through the immigration process. No one wants to be an undocumented immigrant. Everyone wants to do it the legal way, and the only ones who don't just can't, either because of dangerous circumstances that require immediate action, lack of funds, or the purposefully obtuse immigration system.
They're still humans at the end of the day, and being harder on undocumented immigrants is being harder on the poorest and most unfortunate humans. Is that really the standard you want to set?

Too simplistic. We share resources with both illegal and newly legalized immigrants that we do not have enough of for American citizens that have either descended from enslaved people who built this country or Americans who have been here for generations already. Your explanation is way too simplistic. We are becoming overwhelmed in population. The poor have to compete with resources for affordable housing and other resources illegal immigrants benefit from paid for by us taxpayers who need the money to better work for us. The waiting list for housing can be up to ten years or longer. Waiting lists for educational programs that are overwhelmed leads to commuting to get excepted in other programs. When immigrants make money in America yet send it to their beloved country, it doesn’t benefit us if it’s not circulating in our country. Hopefully those who do so are paying taxes . Our taxes that need to go to Americans ultimately gets divided amongst people who want to run here. Yes it’s true immigrants can take your job opportunities simply by competing with citizens for those jobs. Summer jobs that once were available to the youth are given to noncitizen immigrants for cheap labor. My father picked strawberries as a summer job in his youth. That’s no longer available for the youth. Foundational Black Americans fought hard and died to receive whatever human rights we have today. It’s too easy to run from your problems and overwhelm a country. Eventually, you’ve got to stop running, stand up and fight for what’s right instead of hoping that people will sympathize with your situation and take of you. Ultimately, when you come to a country don’t cry mistreatment. Know what you are getting into. America was built on a ton of mistreatment.
As a side note-discrimination amongst illegal immigrants against American citizens is something that hasn’t been touched on , yet concerns me more than the accusations of them being criminals. Some immigrants will come to America and become very clannish only wanting to do business with their own kind. If an immigrant has an apartment for rent or a job opportunity available-that information should be available in English, so Americans can benefit from it. Either you come here to become one with us or not.

Excellent video. I was born in Haiti, lived there till I was 14 and then my family sent me to stay with my uncle and aunt in Boston. At the age of 25, after doing high school and starting college, I couldn't hack the USA immigration system so I tried Canada. I eventually became a Canadian citizen and earned a university degree. I can relate to this video. A lot of white Canadians hate minorities like me for getting degrees and good jobs. They got no idea what we had to go through. I think it's the same way in the USA. The foreign-born man or woman who has to jump through hoops to make it to the USA will achieve more than those born in America. If given half a chance.

this is a great video. Life in America is hard for citizens but compound that with the fact that immigrants and non-immigrants have little to no rights plus the constant racism that I myself face for being brown-skinned in a liberal city, life for us is on expert difficulty. It is purposefully designed this way so immigrants suffer for the white man. I don't see any hope personally and have just accepted most of my income going to the government for providing benefits to which I'm not eligible for. I am a patriot through and through and love America dearly, this country has given me an opportunity very few others will give. Immigration can work if the people have the resources and govt. services that should provide support for new families or ones that are struggling l, which immigrants families tend to be either or (like mine who came for more opportunities and were young when they came.)
Hence why immigrants in the US is set up to fail because basic needs are not even provided for US citizens, how would you expect them to help immigrants from different cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds? This is also showcased abroad in other countries as well.
Like most things, it’s a system that exploits a majority for the benefit of a small minority and it pains me that people believe the trash about immigration and foreign families.

Lowers the demand on housing so homes become more affordable. Less government money being spent on social programs to support illegal immigrants which means more for citizens. Higher average wages as illegal immigrants drive down wages by working extremely low rates.

    • @CamJames
      @CamJames  7 місяців тому +2

@@JimmyJim13 lower demand doesn't correlate as closely with housing prices as you'd think. social programs don't benefit illegal immigrants even though they pay into them. illegal immigrants work for lower wages in jobs many Americans are "too good" to work in the first place, and companies wouldn't magically raise wages just because there's less illegal labor. Most companies don't even hire illegal immigrants in the first place.

    • @JimmyJim13
      @JimmyJim13 7 місяців тому +2

@@CamJames Americans think they’re “too good” to work those jobs because they don’t pay enough. Jobs that don’t pay a living wage shouldn’t exist. Illegal immigration isn’t happening because our politicians are so empathetic. It benefits people in power because they get a limitless source of cheap labor.
Removing illegal immigration would be felt by consumers in the form of higher costs. That’s the cost of national security. It’s on the companies to pay their employees better and not hire people who broke the law to come here. The vast majority don’t hire them but many do so knowing they can take advantage of them.
People who coming here illegally and stay at homeless shelters, enroll their kids in schools or get free food are taking money away from the citizens of this country. There’s a housing crisis in the country. You really think the millions of illegal immigrants here don’t affect housing prices? Most just rent but them being here increases the demand for rent which pushes up housing costs.
I understand why people break the law to get here. Most of them are good people who work hard and want a better life. But they come here with no background check, use services that citizens are entitled to and openly show that they do not respect the laws of this country.
