But the real real problem are the transitions btw summer and winter, bc one week is about 32° and the next week just 12° then again 33° etc. In that period every person gets sick and can't get to work. @@mr.nature3466 Hey, I've lived in Alaska my whole life in Alaska (except for six months in Mexico ) and still currently live here so I lets just say I am qualified to this question!!! (I've lived in the Mat-su valley and Anchorage, which is the most populated part of Alaska, and also the nicest (but I am biased, but I've visited all the rest of Alaska and only Juneau comes close).
It's very nice if you like nature, hiking, skiing, fish ect. We have lots of mountains, rivers, streams (we have over 3 million lakes and 12,000 rivers!) and lots and lots of forest.
You kind of get used to the snow but it gets annoying, if that makes sense.
The people are super nice friendly. Theres this idea that you always help you neighbours, and everyone is considered you neighbour in Alaska.
The dating scene in Alaska is pretty bad, most people are either in very long committed relationships or very single, and there is not a lot of overlap.
Alaska is a little more expensive than the rest of the US, but it's super easy to get a job and provide for yourself.
It's great in the summer and nice if you like snowboarding and skiing in the winter.
Buuuut once you live here for more than 2 years it gets a little boring and repetitive.
      Hope that helps!

@@tomanderson848 you are wrong, capitalism exploits the poor. Wages are high because imported goods and tariffs are expensive. The cost of living in the US has gone through the roof over 30 years, and the minimum wage has barely changed. Iceland has one of the highest GDP in the world, their unemployment rate is less than 3%, clearly they're doing something right.

Iceland is not a utopia at all. It is impossible to earn proper wages that help you to pay your bills so the people have to take loan after loan while the politicians and their voters just make it harder for them to live. What needs to happen about Iceland now is that these politicians and their parties need to be investigated, because of how they treated the disabled and the elderly in the country. A utopia does not fail to learn from WWII. A utopia is a utopia. You can technically describe Iceland as a utopia, because living in a utopia becomes impossible as it progresses. A utopia is basically an unrealistic or an unreachable goal.

I'm from Switzerland and I'm used to drive in the mountains and with snow. But yes, driving in Iceland is difficult even in summer. I was never there in winter but I wouldn't drive there.
I can understand that you don't like that Iceland doesn't have all the shops and water parks and concerts. But do not underestimate the impact that this has on people. I'm 50 and I've seen a lot of countries. I have never met people with so many talents, creativity, spirit of innovation, the ability to solve problems and the courage to try even if the outcome is unsure as in Iceland. The keeper of your football team is a film maker, the landlord of our guesthouse did not only construct a bungalow but also repaired our car, played the guitar and was an excellent cook. You have great singers, writers, artists, engineers and you are great organizers whiteout knowing that you are. I've been in Iceland in 2014 and in 2016. What you did in 2016 to house, feed and organize this massive growth of tourists was amazing! All the shops and restaurants and public toilets that were built in a short time...
People who are used to have things delivered in 24h, who have entertainment organized for them and everything prepared to consume do not develop these skills.

I love my country, i love how winter is not extremely cold, summer is hot and spring is warm but you know, there is something about Iceland that captivates me. Be its nature or how people live happily, the fact that their mood is not affected by weather or anything but it is just that they know how to be happy regardless of any condition. It is just inspiring.

I like how things are relative. In Brazil it almost never snows, only in a few areas, in a few situations. But, because 90% of the year we have hot weather, we're not used to have any kind of heating systems in our houses, then, when it gets cold, it's cold outside and inside. So, even if in other countries weather can be freezing cold, you can enjoy warm temperatures inside your house, and don't have to sleep with a few layers of blankets on you.
Also, I can relate to the shippment thing. Even if almost everything ships to Brazil (never found anything that don't) we have to wait for at least 30 days, because our government taxes things that you import from other countries, and they check everything MANUALLY (WHY!?!), so it takes forever. And taxes range from 10% to 60% depending on how they classify your items.

I was living in Iceland from 2012-13 as an exchange student and can relate to some of these. I remember any time one of our roommate's siblings/parents/gf/bf showed up to visit, all of us would order a bottle of alcohol through them so we don't have to pay $60 for Jack Daniels at the liquor store haha. I lived in rain-filled places for 23 years, but going to Haskoli Islands from Ránargata in the freezing rain when it's dark every morning in January was quite the experience. My roommates and I sometimes walked together to make the walk more fun.

I can relate to weather complaints as a Canadian right on the Great Lakes in Ontario. It gets cold, which I don't mind. But in mid winter we get a "thaw" where it warms up just enough to rain in day but freeze at night. And then its all wet and icey and windy for like a month or two before it gets cold a lil longer and then spring. And spring is not as pretty as many think. It's so slushy and wet dirt from the roads and salt everywhere. And the rain is frigid till mid or late April. Then in summer we get humid heat so it feels like breathing water.

The thing that I hate the most about living in Iceland, is that I don't live there 🤣. This is completely annoying.
I'm from Brazil, and I completely understood you when you said that things bought online takes FOREVER to arrive. Wait thirty days for my goods arrive is utterly normative there.

Wow. U are from Israel and u complain about wars? Maybe you should end occupation of Palestine and stop killing it's people. Just because an old book(Bible)says that that land belong to you or it is given to you by the God, doesn't mean you have any right to it. Accept that and then complain about wars. Btw Jews are allways talking about holocaust and I agree holocaust was extremely bad thing but you are doing even worse things to people of Palestine...you came to their country declared your own country there and started to slaughter them. Think about that and then complain about wars. This comment may be offensive to you but I can't keep my thoughts for myself so sorry if I offended you. It also may seem like I hate Jews but i really don't i just hate Israel's politic.

    Yeah, about intl' taxes
Here in Brazil, it takes 6 months for things to properly ship.
And taxes are usually 100% or more.
For example, shirt costs $50 US Dollars, so that's $50 + Intl' Shipping (Usually $30 US Dollars) + $50 out of taxes = $130 US Dollars
But US Dollars are expensive for us. $1 US Dollar costs $3.82 of our currency, making it $496 for ONE shirt. It'd normally cost like $40 of our currency.

Here's my personal list why I wouldn't live in Iceland:
    - No big cities (I really like the urban life)
    - No old architecture
    - Too few diverse cultural events
    - Always windy (my favourite hobby is cycling)
    - No railways (I don't have a car and get sick in buses)
    - Too expensive beer prices
    - Too many tourists in relation to the locals
    - Too far away from the rest of Europe
    - Too less trees 🤣

The fee is typical for countries; especially Europe. It’s basically a way for them to make-up on “taxes” they missed having the product, purchased inside the country.
There is a way around it though.
For example, If I sent you a gift 🎁 in the mail, I have to sign a “declaration” detailing it’s value; if I’m not a seller, and not selling the product to you, I can be “gifting” it to you, lessening it’s value.
