Great video. I appreciate the challenge of needing something small and portable, but also that collects as much light as possible. Good luck using it for your upcoming night races. And given my night blindness, can I buy a couple to replace my below par eyes? 😂
Great test but turn off rock steady + (use regular rock steady) and keep shutter to 1/200 for even less jitter. Trust me. Super night looks good here! And I always use sport in super night. Even when walking. Do you think the Ace Pro 2 does better night vids? Btw, I love my action 5!
@@babyboy1971 My use case suits Rick Steady better than + so I won’t be using that. Thanks for the heads up on the 1/200. Will give it a go. I got a lot of grain in video mode but it might work well in Super Night. I have seen some videos online where the Ace Pro 2 seems to perform a little better. But is marginal. Both seem way better than the GoPro 13. The Ction 5 has so many other features that interest me. One surprising feature is how easy it is to use…

I’ve done some tests and made a video, but I think your footage looked a lot better. My complaint is always with the flickering of lights. I didn’t seem to see it on your footage. Is this after the latest firmware?
I recorded the footage on October 29th 2024, with the latest Firmware at that stage. I think that it has been updated at least twice since then, and at least once was in relation to Super Night. It was updated again last night with sports data amongst other things, which was great as I am making a video about that... I took some night footage 7th November that you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/dR8jFVrLhdg/v-deo.html Some of the footage is great and some very shaky, largely because I was running with a chest mount for almost all of it...hand held would have been much better but adrenaline got the best of me...
I went with Super Night. Rock Steady Dewarp, essentially the same settings I thought I would from the end of the last video. Will be trying to film a marathon at night in early January and will use the same settings again
The red alfa (your neighbour has fantastic taste 🙂) is a good reference point, if you look at 12.37 you can see in video mode it's nearly pink, super night mode does a good job of showing it's true colour.
I didn't get the Ace Pro 2. Shawn at Air Photography made a comparison video that you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/b79DHu0Jm_M/v-deo.htmlsi=CRiwba5YQmlZls9s Tamara Gabriel made a comparison video that you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/xGo16YQRXbU/v-deo.htmlsi=D0X_y3FUns7NBbzu Hope this helps
@@Sirinealameddine I get great video and photos out of my iPhone and use it every day. I wish they would just take the lenses and photography hardware and software and package them in an action camera form with a mounting system…
The image quality of all the action cams in daylight is great but at night all of them are dreadful, the image quality goes so far downhill it's not eve worth spending the money of them.
I agree. I bought it for other reasons and am just trying to find the least worst option. Until they get larger sensors, there will be marginal improvements
@@OldManRunner The sensors might get a tiny little bit bigger but I can't see them getting much bigger because the cameras will need to be bigger and if that happens then you're better off just using s small mirrorless camera because they ARE great in low light.

Thank you so much, haven't bought version 5 yet but looking into this. Thank you! 😀
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent test and video showcase of the different modes.
Cheers Andy!
Thank you for this, really helpful as my gopro is almost useless during winter runs.
Cheers! The Insta 360 Ace Pro 2 might also be looking at, though I have decided to run with DJI for now..

I think it's only fair that like all the tech, we get upgraded on an annual basis...

rock steady is a joke, i'm guessing in low light the performance falls off the cliff
