Do wild beta tank.the spicies of wild betta is imbellis
but they do need small foods
BTW the tank needs to be 80 to 82 degrees for apisto's and you can't put cory's with them cause they will fiercely protect the ground space and may even kill the cory's.
Finally I was waiting for that desert to flourish with plants......WAIT NO PEARL WEED.?!?! Ohhh mehhh gawwddd
I've hidden some in the back that will grow through later :D
@@MDFishTanks lol you can seem to resist pearl weed MD haha
I'm only 30 seconds in but I already know that it's gonna look GURETO !
You must work so hard to put this ammount of great content. Thank you, it's a great channel.
Just having fun really :)
@@MDFishTanks I've learnt a lot from your channel and utilised it in my own set up. Thanks MD
I love his projects he's the best
Agreed. I never miss any of his videos
what a beautiful south east asian biotope tank (the plants, rocks, color of sand, the branches). (I know apistogramma are from South America)
That perfect description about what iwagumi style is tho
These videos always brighten up my day thanks MD
Your Buddha tank is STUNNING! It’s one of my favorites! Your designs are inspiring and calming. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Love it brother! Can always count on you after a 24 hour paramedic shift to come home to a MD Aquascape video to chill me out!
I like how he's started splitting tank builds up onto several videos. It must be a lot nicer for him to take his time instead of feeling like he has to finish in one
MD u blowed this video!! Can't wait for the apistogrammas to come!! And also some breeding actions hahaha!!!!
Easley my favorite channel on the tube I look forward to coming home after work every day to see if there is a new video posted. Thank you MD for all your hard work you make it easier to sell my aquarium Ideas to the Mrs.🤘💚
You are soooooo lucky to have such good and soft tap water
Ember tetras would look great against that background.
You make it look so easy MD. I just spent half of my day setting up a simple 10 gallon with like 5 plants, and I'm completely exhausted
Getting ready to do an apisto build myself so I came back to watch this one again
Ugh I really need to have apistos in my life again. Lovely scape!
Ahhh what a great idea, goldfish in the Buddha aquarium- the Aranchu crew returns? In force?
So much fun!
I really like your channel because you show that you can still have an amazing aquarium without spending thousands of dollars!
Corydoras could bother the apistogrammas during the "riproduction" period. They will stay in the lower part of the tank for most of the time. I would go for some tetras with colors that match with the apistogrammas and make them feel comfortable. Although otos could be good, they dont care about the eggs
I have to agree on that, corydoras will stress out the apistos cause they both live in the lower area. I had to remove mine for the same reason unfortunatly
Agreed. Otos won't bother anything. If he wants a dither fish, maybe certain types of small tetras or rasboras. I would suggest pencilfish if he had a lid.
I agree as well, the apistos spend their time at the bottom of the tank, anything above them (that is quick) will do fine
Thank you for the constant stream of content MD ! 💚
I love your energy. I love that u talk to your fishes as pets... I love all your tanks... ive just set up another like your fast river as inspiration, thanku... oh and I bought ranchu for my other tank... 😍
Very beautiful aquarium! 🥇
The Buddha aquarium is beautiful!!
Spectacular as always -- great stuff -- thanks!!!
I think all of your tanks are just perfect ✨ just amazing each one of em
Crazy prolific with the vids, quality stuff too. Respect!
Otocinclus, and either Cardinal tetras, or Pristella tetras would be my choice for an Apistogramma tank, maybe a few Nerite snails as well. Glowlight tetras as a smaller tetra, and Silver hatchetfish which stay close to the surface would be another option. Love the scape!
I see a lot of people on aquarium groups which say API products are rubbish and don't work. But to be honest it's saved fish for me in the past that no other medication has worked for. So I think it all depends on the tank, fish and the persons water. I've not tried their quick start but I know a lot do. I prefer to squeeze a mature filter sponge into the tank to quick start a cycle because with the API it only contains certain strains of bacteria and you never know how long it's been on the shelf for and how many bacteria are still alive. Once opened if you don't refrigerate it the bacteria all starts to die in the bottle very quickly and needs to be used within a week or 2. But refrigerated can make it last 2 or 3 months.
It really has turned out amazing and your style and tutorials are so inspiring for beginners, intermediate and even seasoned aquascapers we can all learn from you MD.
Man the Buddha aquarium has come along 😍 I'm so excited to see the goldfish go in ♥️
One of the greatest tips in aquascaping is attaching plants and Moss to rocks and hardscape... It makes things so easy 💯👍
I really like the rotella..I haven't tried it yet.. and nice accents with the red ♥️
I hope you and your family are doing well! Thank you for sharing and have a blessed day!!👍🌿🐟🌿💚🙏
So beautiful as always. I am cycling a tank for Apistos right now and can't wait to put the little cuties in.
Beautiful tank! Love watching the process. How about some rasboras for dithers? They should keep away from any fry. Coreys will get picked on though.
MD you are the best. Love all your videos and I’ve learned so much. My recent scape is a success thanks to your help. For dither fish for your apisto- ruby tetra, green neon tetra, tucano tetra, or coral red pencil fish. All would be natural to South America and help make the apistos feel at home. Can’t wait to see updates.
He was so happy about pronouncing the glue right 😂
I know right lol
I love this tank!
Очень круто! Всё понятно. Продолжай творить чудеса. Я тоже заготовился коряжками и буду скоро их варить.
Looks fantastic. Beautiful👌
You never fail to teach me something in each video! I’m looking forward to the apistos! I’ve been umming and ahhing about getting apistos for a while- thinking it might be closer now than ever! I’d be really interested in more about collecting from local rivers, I think that’s really interesting..
Collecting in local rivers is often forbidden. 🤔
Really enjoy your videos and approach to teaching it to everyone. Videos like this will keep interest into the hobby and hopefully spark some new people to try it 👍😎
Added a pair of Borelli Apisto’s to my community tank today! Female’s taken up residence in a cave and won’t let the male too close. Beautiful fish tho, can see their gills starting to shimmer!
I want an apistogramma. Beautiful fish ❤️
Shout out from Bridgeport CT,United States of America.great job .😜
that's a bold move putting bolbitis in that small a tank MD 😂. Love the vids.
So beautiful aquarium!
Cherry Barbs would look amazing! I have those in my appisto Tank. Your tank looks great. Nice work 👍
Great composition of plants (and hardscape both)! I don't know about the white paint on the background.
Good point about the carpet. When you take a look at AGA contest finalists, you can see only Dutch scapes have that (there are actually some rules like 10 cm of one plant). Biotopes and natural-like aquascape mix the plants.
It's like French style park vs. English style park near 18th century castles.
Your plants always looks green and lush, could you share what ferts you using ect, or maybe make a video, again every tank looks great, oh and love the Amazon Tank you done, my favourite
If i were you i'd do some sort of tetra, maybe neons or something, but i wouldn't do corys, cause the apistos will bully them once they start breeding.
Beautiful tank man. Idk love to have tanks like yours
Amazing as always ❤
Heyy MD back here after a long time seems like a lot to catch up to!! Love binge watching your videos!!😁😍🤩
I love your videos! Me and my friends are from germany and always when u drop a new video we are meeting in my house and watch your videos on our TV! We love your Videos
Trotz Lockdown?!
Beautiful Tank
Awesome MD always brill content
I’d love to see some glow light tetras as dither fish in that apisto tank. Love the videos keep doin what you’re doin
Another awesome video as usual, well done sir! I think a great dither fish for apistogrammas would be some brigittae raspboras or pencil fish and perhaps even some pygmy corries. Can't wait for the next video mate! Cheers!
Man i was foing back and watching some of ur older vidz coz its been a while since iv seen them but i got to say i really miss ur old river aquarium lol but aye ur still building awsome scapes
I miss the river and angel tank too 😢
I have about 50 rasbora maculata in with my super chill apisto double red. Been set up for over a year and all is well. Still my favourite tank. It’s also loaded with cherry shrimp which he never touches. Maybe I just got lucky. They even try to pinch his food from him and he lets them!
“It’s all gonna be plaaaaawwnnted.”
-MD Fish Tanks
😂😂😂luv that
Hi MD. Love the content. You should consider setting up a Scarlet Badis Aquarium. They are such awesome fish.
Looks great, but you really need some kind of cave for the apistos!
Definitely! Especially if he wants them to breed.
tank look amazing but apistogrammas lets say delicate. you need to support that filter with some filter media. my opinion, just saying :)
Just went down to Taunton Maidenhead aquatics today it’s amazing down there bought some cherry shrimp
Have a great day!
Can't wait to see the fishhhh
Wonderful
Great tanks as always, must be about time to install central filtration and automatic water changes...
Great job!
Hiiiii MD, love the work you do
Md why don’t you get some Madagascar lace plant for a scape
on it,....
@@MDFishTanks yeah, you can do a west African tank, with African plants (Onion plants, red lilies, and anubus), mompani wood, and Congo Tetras, and other West African fish.
Corydoras and apistogramma is a no go..
Amazing wish I was this good
Can u please make a Video on all ur electrical and what all ur tanks plug into!!!
Nice work and beautiful as usual! I can only imagine the types plants and growth you would get if you ever used co2.
In stead of cory’s put in Celestrial pearl danio’s or “dwarf rainbowfish” like the Pseudomugil furcatus, beatifull with the yellow colouring. As an extra they are great ditter fish.
"I have some nice plants....." ALLL OF THE PEARL WEEED
welcome to the MD pearl weed farm 🤣
You need to make T-shirts with pearlweeds on! 😁
For dithers I'd do pencilfish! So many different types, but a some favorites of mine are the Eques pencilfish, they swim in a diagonal position and look sick as a small school and the Marginatus pencilfish with their contrasting yellow and black lines. Pencilfish are a great dither for Apistos, since they spend most of their time at the top and middle of the tank, leaving the Apistos to set up their territories at the bottom. Although corys are doable, if the Apistos spawn they'll become aggro and may harm the corys.
If your Apistos breed (which they probably will) they will probably bully the Corys. Apistos do a good job of cleaning the bottom of the tank anyway.
I've noticed in some comments that they ask you doesn't it need co2. It might be a good idea to do basic 101.levels of plants for example level 1 easy, 2 medium, 3 expert and what each level needs. Which plants you would recommend for each level. How much difference for plant growth there is for those of us that have hard water. GREAT video as usual, can't wait for the next one.
Your hardscapes are always glorious but then you put so many plants you hide them :
Don't get me wrong, your big tanks are incredible, but honestly I think you've absolutely mastered nano to larger nano style tanks, every one you've done lately looks absolutely amazing, they're getting better and better! 👌😍
They look great 👍 But some of the nanos are too small for the fish he put in.
@@vEGan1909 I'm sure when they outgrow the tank he will move them, I've watched his chanel forever and never seen a tank be to small for his fish.
@@REscapes MD‘s Chili rasboras are in a tank that’s to small for any fish! Here in Germany we are recommended to keep fish in at least 50 l (~13 gal). In 10-20 l you can keep shrimps and snails.
Nannostomus marginatus (dwarf pencil fish) as dither fish 👌👌👌
Always amazing. I don't know how you do it with your plants. Mine all have planted led lights, easy green ferts, root tabs, and they mostly look like crap.
me too. The worst is stem plants....all melted away. They are supposed to be easy as advertised everywhere. I switched to 10 gal tanks from 5 gal. Now java fern grows a bit and anubias and hairgrass...woo hoo! My water parameters are easier to maintain so it might be this that hels plants and I always use ecocomlete. Any other plants though die. I think if you don't have the water this guy has there are ways to measure water content and deal more specifically with it. The channel here on YT called Girl Talks Fish presents this if you like this kind of thing. Good Luck!
I guess Ancistrus albino/gold would suit the tank really well!? Im talking about the orange-ish ones now, they are really cool! 👍
LETS GO MD!
It’s got to be gold tetra as the dither fish and salt and pepper Cory as the bottom dwellers. Bigger corys will upset the Apisto but salt and pepper stay so small that they just carry on and get ignored. Gold tetras also reflect a lot of light and so the green and red of plants will shimmer on their skin.
For apistogrammas i would use a cannister filter.
They are so sensitive, they need the cleanest water and a cannister is better in providing that.
Love your videos. Think you could do a video on your maintenance regime?
Hey MD! Any chance you could do a scape for hard water for us poor city folks with liquid rock?
What is the next sponsor going to be, manscape? Serious great video your video has improved much over the last year
not even kidding, the have been in contact 🤣🤣
@@MDFishTanks that's awesome, there lawn mower trimmer is water proof.... wonder if it can trim some dwarf hair grass
Nice work MD! looks great...I would like to get some small apistogramis at some point too
Hi my idol, I from in Việt Nam
I would not recommend corys for that size tank, given that they are bottom dwellers like the Apistos, other comments were suggesting tetras which I believe will be good ditter fishes and not bother the Apistos too much
Have you ever thought of making a snail only tank with mystery snails? I have never seen you own a mystery snail and it is a great experience for care of snails.
I'm just getting over my uneasiness about snails...I actually like them now. Why do you like the mystery snail? I just don't know the difference between the variety of snails. I have a couple nerites a ramshorn and actually I got my first mystery snail. He shows his antenna which I like and he floats at time and he covers more ground...the others aren't so meandering. I almost got an assassin snail but decided not to as it kills other snails I think and wasn't an algae eater...
@@heaven7360 Well, mystery snails are pretty big for snails (depending on where you live) and I jus like them moving around, feeling their way though the tank. Btw mystery snails are a bit tricky to keep. If you want a vibrant, hard shell for your snail, you have to get high calcium foods and hard water for property shell growth and health. If you don't feed them enough food, they may resort to eating the dead or dying parts of your aquarium plants so keep up with feeding and for getting more that one, increase the water hardness and keep it there. Overall that snails are a step up from small snails like ramshorn, bladder, and malaysian trumpets, and also nerites(in my opinion)
How about hatchetfish to accompany the apistos?
Soo nice...😍
your hardscapes are always so stunning that it's _Almost_ a shame when they get buried in plants! (although yes plants are always better). I would love to see you do a tank one day that focused on a really dramatic hardscape with minimal plants. maybe a cichlid tank?
I feel exactly the same... Too many plants hiding a great scape
You might want to keep an eye out for some Biotoecus Opercularis, amazing species they are! I guarantee you will be excited when you see them!
Please use a common name people
