I had a Green Star but honestly it was causing shoulder problems because of the Constant pushing of produce into to it. I actually donated mine away. This video reminded me why I got rid of it. Thanks John. I think the Tribest Vertical maybe my choice...
love your videos. you have changed my mind long time ago to eat healthy and right, love to make juices, wish could buy from you if you were in UK. THANKS FOR THE GREAT WORK
I have an original Green Power still going strong have these Green Star versions grown in size or is John just really small? Also whats the deal with so many different Korean twin gear juicers .. Green Power was the original.
Just upgraded from an 8004 to a greenstar elite 5000. (I probably got the best deal on a GSE-5k on Earth... $200, manufactured 04/14) I will say that the GSE is vastly more efficient, but harder to push produce through. I'd say the difference is 5lbs of pressure for the 8004 vs. 20-25 lbs of pressure on the GSE... about 5x harder to push large items through. It comes with 2 filter meshes that allowed me to select the larger mesh to allow for more pulp, since I value the fiber, and the waste pulp was extremely dry. However, it hates fruits if they are not paired with a very hard fiber to push it all through... although all other horizontal machines I believe have this behavior too. Tribest has a fruit knob you can buy separately that I don't have and don't intend on getting at this time (I assume the spring is easier to push, but that's a total guess.) I don't know if that would help, but I'd prefer just pushing it through with a carrot and getting extremely dry pulp. Cleaning time seems substantially longer but it might be because I haven't gotten used to it yet. The Omega's you can just take the entire housing over to the sink and disassemble it there quickly... seems more complex with the GSE. In the case of fruit, when the machine backs up, the liquid spills backwards into an area that is very difficult to clean and appears much more complex to remove than the 8004. The 8004 design allowed you to remove 4 screws to take off the housing lock slider that collected any fluids that ran backwards. The GSE-5K comes with a much better brush however than the 8004, which allowed me to clean the area fairly well without having to remove anything. The efficiency alone I believe is worth the value over time. I don't think I've seen a yield comparison to its only real competition... the similarly designed NC800 single auger type by Omega. I'd love to see a side by side comparison of the highest yielding machines (especially paired with the Juicing Buddy to truly see what type of value you can get out of each.)
Hi John, for juicing wheatgrass in the GS1000: how do you minimise foam? I use a few drops of olive oil to lubricate the gears or should I use a different oil? Also, I usually run the pulp one more time through the machine for max extraction.
Wow! It looks like the Green Star did a better job overall and especially on the carrots based on the darker color of the juice! For the same price range I think I'd want the vertical juicer to perform better than that . I think the vertical juicers should come down in price. It seems the only advantage the vertical juicers have over the horizontal ones are ease of use while juicing fruit and taking up less counter space. It isn't like you don't have to cut up anything in order to get a good yield with the vertical juicers. (Although cutting up greens is probably less time consuming than cutting up fruit.) The horizontal ones-- at least the Omegas-- seem to be better in every other respect :warranty of the Omega 8004 and 8006; much easier shorter cleaning time; easier assembly; better yield for juicing greens; ability to do more than just juice...... not to mention all that for a much LOWER PRICE! I have an Omega 8004 and a centrifugal juicer. I'd buy a vertical slow juicer if they weren't so finicky and didn't require having to cut up greens. Also the cleaning and assembly factor is a BIG DEAL for me. I think they cost way too much considering the time you must have to spend cleaning them added to the fact that they STILL require that you cut up the greens. You should do more videos showing how long it takes to clean the juicers. After doing a "juice off" do a "clean off". (You have to clean the juicers anyway.)
Hey John. Thanks so much for another winning video! I love your vids and have learned so much from you! You rock!!
Let's support Jonh! ;)

So grateful for your work, I'm looking for a good juicer and was comparing these two machines as the price is right for me.
Happy New Year

John would you please compare the Green Star Elite with the Champion juicer. Thank you!
Green Star all the way! I've had a green Power for 16 years.
Green Star appears to be hard work to use. I'll stick with my Kuvings.
