NES Tetris has a score cap of 999999 unless you use a certain Game Genie code. Tengen Tetris has a level cap of 17 and scoring over 1000 lines will say 999 on the high scores. BPS Tetris has no score multiplier. GB Tetris has a level cap of 20. Tetris 2 + Bombliss has a multiplier cap of 30 and beyond level 29 has levels SP0 thru SP9. Super Tetris 3 is similar. Tetris & Dr. Mario has a level cap of 31 on A-Type and a multiplier cap of 10 but no score cap. Tetris DX has a level cap of 30 and a multiplier cap of 21. Tetris DS has a level cap of 20 on Marathon, a multiplier cap of 20 on Endless and 25 on Line Clear. Many modern Tetris games cap off the level at 15 including Puyo Puyo Tetris.

Tetris DS the level can go higher, just it doesn’t increase the speed or lockdown time above 20G, Tetris worlds and the next tetris keep progressing past 15 as well, not to mention Tetris Ultimate, Tetris Effect: Connected, and TGM still have no level cap. So there are still Tetris games with no level cap, they just are very obscure.

@@johneygd NES had no sample channel and couldn’t support chords though… it literally just had 4 sound channels, and 2 of them locked to square wave, and one locked to noise. GBC actually had support for chords and a sample channel. So technically GBC was way better

It's possible to start from Level 10 or more on NES by pressing A+START. I always start from Level 18 to practice for CTWC.

The reason why the TAS is timed like that, is how it's usually done with TASes; starts from power-on, and ends on activating the Game Over.
