The timing of this video couldn't have been better! Just got my MS back from a mech who said he didn't know why my new handle wasn't working. I ran the calibration and it's working fine!
Perfect timing here as well.. today mine broke at the exact same door - when I unlocked the car I could even hear the clunk of the gear falling down. Looks easier than the front doors, thanks a lot!
Hi I have a 2013 model s , this is very very helpful, thank you for making this video , I will order the parts to fix my door handle , when I unlock the car the door behind the driver side opens by its self
It could be a couple of things but if it is a GEN 2 handle, then more than likely the microswitch needs to have the adjustment screw adjusted, I have a video of that here under ghost opening.
I have a Tesla model S of 2018 with the gen 3.0 They arent even broken but watching this video acknowledges that if they are broken, just let tesla mobile service fix it :D Great job though. If you have done this repair multiple times it looks like a 20 min job.
So my front door handles wouldn’t present… I was able to push it in lightly and pull it in the corner to open it. Now it seems to be completely dead I can only open them from the inside

lol I am not one to give up, but they are challenging. The motor can split the gear and that is about the only repair I will do on the GEN 3 handles.
