    FYI, you can make the GoodDog basket silencer yourself with an old bike inner tube. Cut it open down the middle so its one long strip, then wrap it tight around the middle pole and tape end with duck or electrical tape. Works just as good as the Good Dog one in the vid, and basically free if you already have an old tube. Plus reuses what would be trash instead of buying new!

    I bought the MaxDisctance retriever a few weeks ago and have to attest for how awesome it is.
    It's fully carbon fiber, so lighter weight than comparable metal ones, and if a rod segment breaks you can order the individual carbon rod and replace it yourself super easy. Also it will make everyone jealous of your superior retriever. It grabs discs better than traditional rods - it looks gimmicky but somehow works, especially in the water.
    The only gripe I have is collapsing the rod back down requires you to be a little more careful to seat each large segment first before going to the next smaller rod. Overall extremely happy.

    I got the max disctance retriever after seeing it at a nearby park and it's great. I like that the carbon fiber can be disassembled in case you get water in there which always annoyed me about the metal telescoping poles. I feel like it's going to last much longer (I have already gone through 2 metal retrievers in a little over a year.) and even if it does break you can just order individual parts. Worth the bigger price tag in my opinion especially if you play around as much water as I do.

    The Disctance Retriever is nice, but it only works if you can see the disc. if the disc is in the water, but can't be seen, you are better off with a retriever that lets you drag for it. Still an awesome idea. With the Mojoh Ryzer, that looks like it would add a fair bit of weight to the bag, which kind of offsets the value in having the bag a little bit higher off the ground (and how does it work on slopes).

    • @DaniGirl6

    • @mojohgear

      @DaniGirl6 Рік тому

      @Mojoh Gear that's like lugging around a clothes iron on top of water, discs, retrieve tools, small first aid kit if in the mountains or places with stinging bugs, and whatever else.
      I haven't gone past 10 discs max due to weight when playing a course. Typically, I play with 8 that are based on the weather and course I am at. My boyfriend has an 18+ disc bag that I will borrow for field work. That's about the max weight I could enjoy playing a course with if I was determined, carried it once, and that was enough. (Sure, I could carry more, but this isn't a camping trip, I don't want to be huffing and puffing). 8 discs at 155g comes to about the stand's weight. I generally play with 140-150's. So the stand easily doubles my weight for my standard disc carry, bringing it up to that of my boyfriend's larger bag. After trying his, I went with a lighter bag because of the weight. It would be a tough decision to buy this stand. One of the other options I am currently looking at is a lightweight camp stool, and it is 0.6 lbs. I can sit on it while waiting and then rest my bag on it when my turn is up. For me, how heavy this thing is takes the excitement out of it and is a hard sell. But my boyfriend might like it.

Then put the chains back on .

    Disc Doctor looks so awesome. The Ryzer just has too many cons for the benefit for me. It adds a lot of weight at 2.6 lbs. To put that in perspective that’s equivalent to 7 discs at 170 grams and that’s on top of your actual discs, bag, and other items like chalk. However it’s a cool concept and I hope to see it not cost more than the price of an average bag as well as a lighter option.
    One thing is definitely for sure the sport is growing and it’s partly due to all of the innovation. Thanks to these product designers!

    If you drilled out the rivets for the rails on a GRIP bag it would be a perfect place to mount the Mojoh Ryzer without needing to attach to other visible areas. That's more work than most people are looking to do though unfortunately

      Given it's a prototype, I guess the creator will be (or is) looking at a way to attach to bags with rails.

    The Max distance is one of if not the best retriever on the market currently. In my opinion.

    The Mojoh Ryzer sounds cool, but I don't think it'll work very well in slopes, especially in the winter (with ice and so on).

    I'm all for these, except I'm waiting until there's a version of the riser that doesn't require me to drill holes in my bag. Different strokes, though. If you like it, go for it.

    I bought the max disctance retriever and it lasted all of three rounds. Basically the first time I went to use it the thing snapped in half....
    I'd say it's a "don't buy" unless the makers jump in here and offer me a new one.

    I used hockey tape on my basket to silence the ring. Idk if it works any better, but if it costs more than a roll of hockey tape, it'd be a hard sell.

    Dunno about that Ryzer. Sure it can make your bag stay clean but it adds weight. What comes to longevity you should just fix your bag with a needle, thread & e.g. duct tape. And if you want something for your bag get a luggage cart.

    Instead of spending $30 onna flight towel. You can get an automotive drying towel. Its bigger and cheaper.

    Disc Golf Nerd he tested the prototype of the Mojo Riser that he was not sponsored by other then they let him buy a prototype and he liked the protoype. Mojo sent a revised edition, and he liked it even more not taking into account he got the second for free even if he had to pau for it. The first had 4 legs and would not work with most backpacks with only the bigger and really big bags fitting, the second was made to fit most backpacks including the single drink holder like the ones Dynamic Discs and MVP make, all besides the really small ones like the Innova Discover, or the similar small sized disc golf backpacks.

    I had a ridiculous vision of using a remote mower that can locate, pick up and bring back disc during a practice session. I think that suction cup might be part of the solution. Extreme over-engineered solution for laziness.

    No. The only thing of interest was the suction disc pick-up toy, when you're practicing and picking up 10 discs at a time.
    Shaving my discs, and becomes illegal play and to keep the discs active for practice, a Gerber multi tool file.

    Speaking of silencing, why there are no baskets that use rope or other similar material for chains? I mean, you can make one yourself using a thick rope with many knots on it, but where are commercial options?

    • @MaximilianBerkmann
      @MaximilianBerkmann Рік тому

      Likely because they aren't good at catching, not helping you practice with a basket as close as possible to ones on courses and the rope will likely be more feeble than chains.
