    Can you disconnect light with this model and just use fan ?

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  4 місяці тому +2

      Yes. You can run just run one 14/2 wire to power the fan only. Cap the wires off in the fan that are for the light kit... and, you will be good to go! 👍

      Hi Karen. Thank you for watching and commenting. I've done videos both ways (commentating or music with word instructions) and find comments pro/con for both ways. I try to be as throughout with words on the screen when it is set to music. Hopefully you can still see how to install this fan by following the on screen instructions 👍

    I am planing to change my light fixtures to fan+light combination. If I have 14/2 wire can I just wire nut all black and red wire together, white to white, and ground to green. So I use the single switch when it is hit both light and fan will run.

    Couldn't you just run a 14/3 from the switch up to the vent instead of two separate wires? Or did you just use two separate because that's what you had on hand?

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Breakingcustom. Yes and no to your question. There are two separate lights, a night light and a main light. So, if you only cared about one light, then yes, you could run a 14/3 for powering the fan and one light only. However, if you want to be able to utilize all the options of this fan, then you need to run two separate runs . One 14/3 and one 14/2 (one for controlling the fan only, and the other for controlling the 2 lights). I hope that this information helps you. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.

    I got a problem and need help. My model is FV-0511VFL1 for fan with light. I have three wires for light, a black,a white, and a blue (maybe for night light); two for the fan, a black and a white; plus a green for both. The wires on the ceiling have a black, a red, a white and a bronze. They are combined wires for a separate light switch and a separate fan switch for my old fan with one light (not a day light and a night light in Panasonic model). Which wire I should connect the BLUE wire to? Right now, when I connected the blue wire to red wire, the old fan switch turned only on the night light, not the expected fan; the old light switch turned on the daylight and fan at the same time. I don’t care the night light, should leave out the blue wire?

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  8 місяців тому +3

      Hello. If I am understanding correctly, your "bronze" wire in the ceiling is your ground wire and it is bare copper. That should be connected to the green wires...all together...as your grounds. As far the other wires go... the black and blue wires on the fan (those are both the lights...standard and night lite) should be twisted together and landed on whichever wire in the ceiling goes to your first switch on the wall (either your black or red wire in the ceiling). All the white wires will be twisted together (on fan and white wire in the ceiling). The remaining black wire for the fan will be connected to the remaining wire in the ceiling (either the black or red wire that you have not connected yet). That will go to the second switch on your wall. I hope that this information helps 👍.

    Should this fan be sucking air from both sides of the grille? I noticed on my fan only one side of the grille sucks the air up.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  Рік тому

      Hi Julian. The fan should be sucking up air from both sides of the grill. It has one fan motor that is in the center of the exhaust fan. You might want to remove the grill to make sure that there is not a bunch of lint clogging the back side of the grill preventing air flow. If you were not the one to install this exhaust fan, you need to grab opposite sides of the grill and pull down slightly. You will then see metal wing clips that you press together so that the grill is released from the unit. Make sure that the fan is clean from debris and the grill is clean. This is most likely the issue. Hope this information helps.👍

    Got similar installation done, with 3 switches, 2 for each light and one for ventilation.
    I used romex 14/3 for the lights but could not make the night light work even though I connected to the blue wire in the fan junction box.
    Any idea how to make the night light work?

      @@YouCanDoIt2 Thank you for your kind reply. I did run 2 separate lines (i.e. 14/2 for the fan and another 14/3 for the lights) so, it is a total of 3 switches.
      I tested that current was passing to the load for the night light from the switch but the light did not turn on.
      The manual specifications indicated I just needed to provide current using the blue cable in the Panasonic junction box thus using the same neutral as the main light.
      Still, it did not turn any night light, do you think it might be a defective unit if everything else sounds correct?
      Thanks in advance.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  Рік тому +1

      @@saqehi Hi Jonah. Sounds like you're doing a great job. One question, are all of your neutrals, white wires, connected into one wire nut? They all need to be connected together in one wire nut for the two switches and the fan motor to work. If you have separated them that could be the reason why the night light will not function. Also, you might want to test each wire nut and make sure that your wires are wrapped tightly together and one hasn't accidentally slipped out of the nut. Otherwise, you may have a defective unit if everything else is wired correctly. Hope this helps 👍

      The night light should of been wired separately. So you should of used a 14/3 and a 14/2. 14/2 for the night light.

    You really need 2 wires for the fan? You’re joking right? It’s an LED light. Can you feed the fan and the light off one 14-2 wire? I only have one feed in and no attic access.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Quinton. Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment. You can easily wire nut the black wires together and wire nut the white wires together and have your switch and light come on and off at the same time. I installed it so that the homeowners could turn on the light and / or the fan without having to have both on at the same time. There are a couple options that you can go with. Best wishes with your project 👍.

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Halk! Thank you for watching the video. White wires are always combined together as those are your neutrals. If you have only one switch in the wall, then the light and the vent will come on at the same time. You will then wire nut the black and blue wires together with the black supply wire in your house. If you have two switches in your wall, then the black vent wire will go to one switch and the blue light wire will go to the other switch so that you can turn the vent on separate from the light. I hope that this helps. You can do it! 👍

      @@YouCanDoIt2 thanks a lot! But my situation is a bit different. On my fan box I have two blacks and one extra hot which is blue… I have just two switches, one for light another for vent… thanks!

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  2 роки тому +1

      @@halk7636 Got it! Okay, if this is the same model then most likely the blue wire represents the motor for the exhaust fan. The two black wires represent the low and high lights for the light kit. If you have only two switches in the wall, then the blue wire will go to the black wire on one switch to power up the exhaust fan. The other two black wires will be wire nutted together with the black wire on the second wall switch to power up the lights. If you had a stacker switch you could separate the two black wires for a night light and a regular light but in this case you are going to wire nut both black wires together to power up both lights at the same time. I hope that clarifies things for you!

      @@YouCanDoIt2 thanks a lot for your time! Finally figured out. Blue wire was for the night light, black wire for the normal light. Another black for the vent motor. I just isolated blue wire and connected black to the black and another black to the red. And everything works! Thanks a lot!

    • @YouCanDoIt2
      @YouCanDoIt2  2 роки тому +2

      @@halk7636 smart man! Rule of thumb is as long as you isolate the white wires away from any other colored wire you can't really mess it up. It then just becomes a matter of troubleshooting what wire does what by connecting it to a hot. Glad you figured it out!

    It's not a good idea to screw the box to the stud from the inside of the box. Screw heads could rub and cut wire cover. They sell remodel boxes that are a lot simpler to install than what you do here.
