Wow! That was some kinda slick!😎 I feel like Jack Nicholson, playing the Joker at the art gallery when Batman exited the place. And the Joker said "Where does he get such great toys?"😆 Good video. Learned a bunch.
Hehehe! When I was young and broke, I did everything on the cheap. I still have to pay attention, but have more time and pocket change now-a-days. How are you doing, Ranger? 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
@@viejo2a I'm doing pretty good. Bought 1K of CCI #300 Lg pistol primers last night. $168.00... Ouch! But I've got 4 45Colt's and a 1911A1 to feed. What can I say?😬
Thanks for watching, Shawn. I use the lubrisizer once a year on a few bullets, but I rarely have the opportunity to shoot outdoors any more, so I mainly powder coat. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Walter - Your 50-50 green mix Seasick Green is a good way to go... Gotta get some of that chrome powder next order with Eastwood... Gotta run - Chrustnas shopping Steve
Great video but I waited to see the bullets at the end to see what they looked like your never showed they this is all new to me all info would be greatly appreciated what does the coating do to the barrel on ware
Hi. Thank you for watching! I did show the bullets as they appear right out of the mold, and after powder coating. Scroll out to the 4:50 mark to see the raw bullets, and to 7:00 to see them powder coated. Powder coating does not cause any wear on the barrel. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Well detailed operation. I've been using my Lee hand press to size bullets. I set it up upside down and have a box, much like the one you use with the APP press. It's not as quick as the APP, but it's what I have to work with.
We all make do with the tools and resources we have available. Good on ya for making the hand press work. I had never considered that. It sounds like a useful way to do some sizing indoors from the recliner when the weather dictates! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Thanks Mike. I’m right with you..that press is golden for sizing bullets and brass as well as large batch depriming. I would not want to work without it now. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Thanks for this video! I was contemplating using my APP press, but have not tried that yet, and been using the old Lee method as shown first. My only thought for hesitation of usage was that of getting a bullet stuck in the bushing for the APP press? On my old single stage press if this ever comes about, I am able to place a section of pipe on the handle and force the bullet through the old style size die. I don't like forcing anything, but have had to do that a couple of times, thankfully without complications. My Lee 124 grn 9mm mold is branded .356, but after coating bullets are .358. So I initially size them to .358 and use some for the 38/357 target rounds, then size the remainder through the 356 die to a near perfect size and very easy to pass through the size die after the double procedure. Perhaps I should size the initial castings first before coating, but that is still 2 procedures, with use for only a single caliber. I have used many brands of presses, but never had such good single purpose use and speed as that of the Lee APP press. That small ,inexpensive press allows me to size hundreds of cases in a single hour, effortless, with use of my 4 tube collator. Those Lyman castings sure looked nice compared to the Lees, although the price difference of molds is very noticeable. You get what you pay for, and in most cases the Lee products are great for my usage.
Hi, and thanks for that comment. Getting a bullet stuck should never happen with PC bullets as the coat significantly increases the lubricity of the bullets. I have sized by as much as .005” with little effort. A spritz of Hornady One Shot case lube is often helpful with oversized bullets. I would avoid sending raw bullets through you die before coating. Unlubed bullets are far more likely to stick, and lead can build up in the die. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Great mold,, I was going to ask someone if they make defensive bullet molds.. you answered that. What if you have got a reg. Bullet mold and ,,what you think about drilling a little hole.? HOLLOW POINT?
It can be done, but would be very time consuming. Performance of cast hollow point bullets is highly dependent upon the alloy used, and velocity. Lots of testing has to be done to ensure the round will expand properly. To my mind, factory self defense ammo is the wise choice. Thanks for watching. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
You gave us the as cast diameter of the bullets but what diameters were the bullets after curing the powder coating and then what were you sizing the bullets to and what was the actual post sizing diameters of those bullets? Curious minds want to know.
As usual, the P/C added about .003 to each. The 38’s were taken from .360 to .357 and the 490 bullets were sized down from .435 to .431. Thanks for watching, Lawrence. I had actually planned to include that, but lost the video clips somehow.🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Nice video, I haven't bought the app press because it looks like it's just plastic and the handle is all wiggle but yours didn't? Have you done anything with it or can you bay another handle?🇳🇴🇺🇸
There are a couple of plastic parts, Kåre, but it’s mostly metal. The handle I have is an “upgrade”. The standard handle is a knob that you see in the advertisements for it. I prefer the optional roller handle. It does take some practice to learn to use it, but once through the learning curve, it is a piece that I use EXTENSIVELY, and would not wish to be without. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸🇳🇴
I don’t have one at the moment. My previous channel had many before UA-cam deleted that channel. I have more to get done soon, and will include powder coating in the next video. Generally speaking, I use what we call the “shake and bake” technique. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

@@viejo2a Exactly. Whether it's 110 or 10 you can sit and watch YT, TV, or listen to some favorite tunes.
Good demo Viejo! Sizing with the APP alone is worth the cost of the press. I highly recommend the APP for this and many other reasons.
