Listening to this theme tune of my soap Brookside and other shows I loved growing up gives me goosebumps and shivers down my spine of retro and nostalgia makes me think of my youth.
My Grandfather used to like a pint in the Black horse, it's kinda halfway between old swan and knotty ash. The guy who played Jimmy Corkhill used to go in there from time to time.
One The Greatest Shows Ever On British TV Would Never Get Made Now Remember Always Having My Bath For School The Next Day Early On Tuesday Wednesday And Friday's So I Could Be In Front Of The TV At 8 O'clock To Watch Nat And Georgia
i remember i started watching this soap for the theme tune it use to get right into my heart i neva new what was going on till i actually got into it it brings back memories it finished so quick
I never really watched Brookside when it was on TV, but I like the theme of it and I do wish to see it on TV again just so I can give it a go to watch.
core i do miss brookside. wish i watched it more when it was on. see i was born in 1994. so i only really remember watching 1998 - 2003. i dont watch it all the time though. shame. bring back brookie.
This is a superb tune that holds its own to this day. The fact that's it so sterile and electronic doesn't matter so much. Would be interesting to hear it played with real strings and horns...
OMG! Why were tv shows and theme tunes so so much better in the 90's?? I remember my Grandma used to love watching this, I remember Sinbad, Jimmy Corkhill etc... Lol it was brilliant!
To be honest ,The Brookside Theme Tune beats Eastenders Corrie and Emerdale themes with a shitty stick!! It is to this day still a very imaginative and emotive piece of music on its own even if you had never seen Brookside it has a soft melodic intro that builds up to the clash of the drums then the main synths come in and drama till the end of the tune superb ! !
Loved brookside. Think I was in love with Jennifer Ellison back then and her sister both. Love the scouse accent. Great show far better than Holly oaks now
@Andyc18 i totally agree. everythings just gone downhill. like...everything i don't get it. all the good shows have gone. The Bill, Brookside, Grange Hill, even Casualty isn't the same anymore.
My cousin lives on Brookside Close with her husband and baby daughter, i'm not sure which Brookie character the house belonged to but she tells me they get pissed off with "tourists" walking into the close taking photographs of the area.
What can she expect. It's absolutely no difference to the queen's home being photographed and she doesn't complain and that gets hundreds and thousands of visitors and tourists
@andymerrett That would be a good point if Brookside hadn't begun 3 years BEFORE Eastenders :p The original Brookie theme was slightly different but still had the drums.
Boy does this bring back lots of memories! I used to watch Brookie with my mum & gran in the 1990s. I was born in 1984!
Whos here in 2020 feeling good at listening to the tune to brookie 😊
Used to love the Saturday omnibus this makes me miss it even more now .
I used to love irbil the 80s /90s and loved that music
Listening to this theme tune of my soap Brookside and other shows I loved growing up gives me goosebumps and shivers down my spine of retro and nostalgia makes me think of my youth.

Brings back memories ,I never missed an episode ! And the days when the opening and ending credits were long lol
Still my favourite TV theme ever, and favourite show. Happy days!
I always loved the closing music sequence credits more than the opening one. Please bring back Brookie!!!
The series is back on STV.... Will be watching it again 😁
A tear is running down my cheek........memories.....
I really miss Brookside. Jimmy Corkhill what a legend.
My Grandfather used to like a pint in the Black horse, it's kinda halfway between old swan and knotty ash. The guy who played Jimmy Corkhill used to go in there from time to time.

Good lad
@blingking501 as long as you don't do crystal meth listening to the Crystal Maze that's OK... 👌
Rest in peace dean Sullivan aka jimmy corkhill 🙏
Jimmy; 'I'll sort it, I'll sort it'.
bring back brookside, each time i listen to this theme it brings bk memorys, so hope they bring it bk, miss it and the theme tune to it.
i remember i started watching this soap for the theme tune it use to get right into my heart i neva new what was going on till i actually got into it it brings back memories it finished so quick
1:07 onwards, awesome -no words. The feelings, the memories, the tune and the reminiscence
As it should be - in full and uninterrupted!
sped up on this recording though for some reason
@@muk8804 It is just they way I received it. I haven't altered it in any way.
Is it bollocks speeded up - don't talk wet
Bring back brookside, i loved it. music is fab.
Where haßthe time gone? All too fast. I was living and working in Jersey 🇯🇪. .many happy memories..
It was always quite sophisticated for a soap opera theme tune.
brookside should be number 1 when it comes to soap tunes
All played by one bloke with a Casio keyboard by the sounds of it 😅
Check out "kid casio" in the studio...
brookside always had the best theme music, especially the ending!! so good when it was a dramatic ending made it even more gritty
Go to be the best soap theme!
Best soap ever and that theme tune sends shivers down the spine
Great tune.
I loved brookside. Watched it in the week then omnibus at weekend lol
This is a superb tune that holds its own to this day. The fact that's it so sterile and electronic doesn't matter so much. Would be interesting to hear it played with real strings and horns...
Yeah, I used to play the horn and I agree, that would be awesome.
Best soap ever ...mint
with a tear in my eye i type this i am 18 and this was the best tv show ever
The residents of Albert Square have nothing on the bad luck that befell some of the people on that close.
For God's sake please bring this iconic programme back.
It is now on the STV player.
Bring back brookie.
Or show the repeats on the drama channel.
OMG! Why were tv shows and theme tunes so so much better in the 90's?? I remember my Grandma used to love watching this, I remember Sinbad, Jimmy Corkhill etc... Lol it was brilliant!
brookside was probably the best tv show i watched in my life
for some reason this tune used to make me feel sad.
The end credits theme makes me feel sad.
still best soap all time cant wait for anniversary november bring it on
Axing Brookside was the biggest mistake Channel 4 ever made. Bring it back
I agree. I used to like Jimmy Corkhill and Barry Grant. Mick was good aswell. Remember Sinbad? I feel old 😮
Sends a shiver down my spine hearing this
What a show and what a character jimmy corkhill was.
He was my fave.
Some good retro synth music in this, feel like listening to kraftwerk now...
awwww what a tune i rember brookside, was ma mums fav soap we all watched it in bak room stil rember aww memeories man, class tuuunnneee man
To be honest ,The Brookside Theme Tune beats Eastenders Corrie and Emerdale themes with a shitty stick!! It is to this day still a very imaginative and emotive piece of music on its own even if you had never seen Brookside it has a soft melodic intro that builds up to the clash of the drums then the main synths come in and drama till the end of the tune superb ! !
I remember Brookside. I remember there was one episode that had to be moved to 9PM due to it's graphic content.
I got chills. nostalgia!
omg remmember when jimmy was on the happy pill
Wish Brookie would come back :( used to love watching this!!! Need to get the DVD box set :-)
Bring Back Brookside
We all have a Brookside, or an area like it...
bring back brookie good old days x
Loved brookside. Think I was in love with Jennifer Ellison back then and her sister both. Love the scouse accent. Great show far better than Holly oaks now
@MisterAlexUk
Fair dos, In the final Year (2003) it was trying to turn itself around but the damage had been done.
Yeah, as a kid the Brookie theme was always the best in my opinion, I loved it!
90's theme was the best. They should've used it for the final episode, it would've made it more fitting.
I'm here from Cultaholic, what a theme!
No more than the original theme... Now THAT smacked of 80s with the heavy synth!
This was better than the original
@Andyc18 i totally agree. everythings just gone downhill. like...everything i don't get it. all the good shows have gone. The Bill, Brookside, Grange Hill, even Casualty isn't the same anymore.
Best soap bring it back or repeat from start channel 4 or drama channel even 😁😋
WOW! i miss brookside!
Brings back memories,(good ones)
Not sure if I want this as my alarm clock, tune or ring tune..
the dvd is great love brookie
So tempted to make this my ringtone.
Did you in the end?
I have haha
Same here, I loved it for the theme tune!
still always be the best soap
I used to love this music
Wow heavy on the synth!
@91Pepsimax Brookside probably had one of the best theme tunes that i ever heard in my life..
great theme tune it's a shame it's not on anyone. get rid of shitty emmerdale and bring back good old brookside with a whole new cast.
"Emmerdale, well which is like a slow death"... Thats what happened to Brookside, hence the reason why it was scrapped
AHHHHH , good ol' brookie!
Good Song
I like it, don't ever remember it being this mellow though, sounds like what a hobbyist would make on their PC using Fruityloops or somthing! x
This them tune is so 80s!
Classic times.
very clearly inspired by Simple Minds/Life in a Day
Hopefully moving up to Manchester next year so can catch the train to Liverpool and take a few photos
+Owen Coe watch out, them scousers are thieving bastards
Yeah Manchester is known for its safety and lack of crime.
the theme tune was a classic...... how did they make it
@V13WNG well why dont they film the normal family's that live in the close ?you could have the first docu-soap
That's because he can't let go of his past!
@andymerrett That would be a good point if Brookside hadn't begun 3 years BEFORE Eastenders :p The original Brookie theme was slightly different but still had the drums.
No chance of it coming back now - the houses were sold off to a developer, refurbished and are now lived in by normal families..... :o(
wow memories
great theme tune.. almost as good as steptoe & sons
I never watched this as a kid, yet I know the theme tune...
Wasn’t this the updated version developed for Nicam stereo broadcasting at the time?
oh what memories
wow!! Same here!!
Thought it just me being weird! lol
0:47 Brookside End Of Part One ❤
