Quite a few interesting stories in this one, I think. Let me know if you have any Butterfly Effect stories of your own! I might be able to read some in a future video.
Here’s my story: close to 2 years ago, a friend of mine in Texas posted a video of a car waiting for the red light to green. The light turned green and the car went on their way.....unfortunately a truck ran their red light. The car was destroyed. My friend put the caption of “ please wait. Wait just 2 seconds. Who cares if the car behind you honks, just wait”. Next day I’m leaving my hotel job and heading home. I always take this road with a bunch of curves and just before I arrive to my home I have to pass thru a major intersection. I was in the front waiting for the light to turn green. As soon as it turns green, I start to floor it and then......that video suddenly pops into mind with what my friend said. I immediately stop and just wait for a second. As I start pressing down on the gas again, a black convertible Porsche zooms by, running the red light. Had I not waited and remembered that video, well...... I would be another tragic Florida car story. Thank you Candace.
Jerry Torres thank you! I always make sure to wait 3 seconds to make sure no one runs through a red light and to check for cyclists, people will do anything so be super careful
Yeah I was taught by my mother to always wait a few seconds when the light turns green. She has avoided being hit by a car so many times because shes waited, even if shes being honked at.
Leaving work in Warren Detroit Michigan at 11pm I go van dyke to 16 Mile road some guy tailgates me hard gets me mad pissed racing swerving around cars. It gets really aggressive, something tells me pull over and change my role in this. I did and leave two minutes later I find the car that chased me upside down on opposite side of route over large median and had impacted another car.
You all get a thumbs up for having intelligence! Waiting at a light that had just turned green also saved my life: light turned green, so I waited. I had a weird feeling when a POLICE CAR went by doing at least 100 mph, with no lights! Not even headlights! No siren, nothing. I was in a '93 Ford Ranger with a little matching cap and I thought it was going to flip from the draft coming off of that police car. This was about 3 AM, so always wait a second! Thanks for everyone relaying their experiences!
I wanted to share mine too! When I was attending college, my mum would always drive me to school and my class starts at 10AM. This one particular day, I decided to sleep in and told her I'll skip my first class so she can drive me to school a bit later. She kept hurrying me because she said she had to run errands at the bank but I couldn't be bothered at the time, my body was so heavy and I just didn't have the energy to prep. After my mom dropped me off, I got a call from her about an hour later saying that the bank she was supposed to go to was robbed and everyone inside was held hostage, with I guess 3-4 casualties even. It was all over the news. It literally took my breath away realizing that if I had gone to my 10AM class that morning, my mama would have been in the bank at the same time the robbery happened. I guess being a lazy ass sometimes has its goodness.
When I was 16, I was working out with a friend all night. And when he dropped me home, asked if I wanted to come out with him and 2 other friends of ours. I said I was too exhausted and I needed to pack for my trip out of state anyways. I didnt sleep all night, I procrastinated packing... and when I woke up around noon, a Facebook friend posted an article about a wrong way drunk driver who killed 2 out of 3 passengers in a car. The car was unrecognizable, and I just rolled my eyes at how someone could be so careless. Later that afternoon, when next of kin was contacted, they released the names. It was my workout buddy, and our two friends hit head on, and he was the only survivor due to a reclined seat. I just remember feeling like I couldnt breathe, and falling to the floor. If I had gone that night, I would have been in the back, where the other passenger did not survive, also meaning his chair could not have been reclined if I had been in the car... my flight out of town is where I met my current boyfriend of 3 years [I'm now 23]. Had I gone out that night we would have never met, and I would likely not be here.
I have a butterfly effect story that my mum told me. This happened before I was born. My mum and biological father (he didn’t raise me) woke up in the morning as per usual. He was a trucker and would drive from one end of New Zealand to the other. My mum, however, felt odd when waking up. She told my biological father to stay home as she felt something bad would happen, so he stayed. Later that day they were watching the news and something caught their attention. A trucker had crashed off of the edge of a hill/cliff and died. This caught the attention of my mum and father as the truck belonged to the company my father worked for, it was also the route he was supposed to take, and the exact truck he was supposed to take. If it weren’t for my mum stopping him he would be dead and I wouldn’t be alive.
I had a friend in high school whose mom was supposed to sleep at Sharon Tate's house the night of the Manson murders. When her mom first told me the story, the fear, disbelief, and relief in her eyes was still apparent even decades later. She reminded us to appreciate every second we have on this earth.
Yeah so I was riding my bike way back in 1998 I was only 17 then and saw a really unusual bright red butterfly on a purple clover bud on the side of the road I had been riding down. It was so unusual I stopped to get a closer look and and crossed the ditch when just as I got across a black mid 80s pick up truck sped passed with the passenger side tires over on the shoulder where I would have been if not for the butterfly. The unusual thing about it was it looked like it was made of red reflective plastic and it was gone when I turned to look for it after being startled and almost killed by the truck. I’ve never seen another one like it I’m almost inclined to believe that there wasn’t any butterfly just a guide to keep me off the unsafe path.
Billy Gillespie I found out that the red colors in orbs and stuff means protection! I always assumed it was a bad color! Lol that red butterfly made you stop. 🛑 ♥️
Nikki Nicole lol aww I saw red orbs slowly floating outside only when my neighbors would fight and scream. It was like clockwork. Once screaming was heard the little red orbs would slowly hover around but the other colored orbs are faster moving. Red heads are super special though really rare hair color right? That’s what I’ve always heard. 🌹❤️ my only redhead aunt is the only child out of 6 that is nothing like any of the other children. Just super unique personality wise. ❣️it’s the coolest hair color too.
A couple years ago I was home with my dad. He was getting ready for work and was running a bit late when two men rang our doorbell. We looked out the peep hole, didn't recognize them, and so we didn't answer the door. But then my dad told me he had this weird gut feeling, and he decided to look out the window to see what the men were doing. He watched them walk all the way around to the back of our house, where one man pulled a crowbar out of the trunk of his car and began climbing over our fence. My dad immediately ran outside and started yelling at him (he is 6'5" and a former bodybuilder) and the guy freaked out and jumped back over the fence and ran. My dad told me later that the guy smelled like meth and was covered in track marks. I always think about what would've happened if my dad hadn't been running late to work that day. I was about 5 minutes away from being a 15 year old girl, home alone playing Pokémon with no pants on, while a meth head broke into my house.
@@jaywalk2316 not true Less their around that shit cooking I use live around hundreds of meth heads plus hangout in the traps. Never smelt nothing like that heck meth being smoke barley has a smell it's near odorless
Unfortunately, it is not true. A cool story but it did not happen. Fleming moved to London when he was 14 with his brother. He received the money for medical school from an inheritance from his uncle. Winston also was not treated with penicillin, he was given sulphonamide when he was ill.
Delta p is when 2 different bodies of water with different pressures intersect like at the base of a dam for example I went to school to be an underwater welder but I make more doing what I do now
A few years back, my mother was due to travel to Germany for business. The night before the flight, though, she caught a nasty flu and couldn’t get out of bed. To this day, I’m still thankful for this. Had she not been sick, she would’ve flown and safely arrived in Brussels. But I’d never see her again because the café where she would always have a drink was right beside the spot that would be bombed that same morning.
When my mom was in high school her two best friends and their boyfriends had invited her and my dad to go camping one long weekend. They had accepted and she had requested the weekend off, and was told it was approved. When the weekend approached she got a call from her work on the Friday evening asking where she was, confused she went in to talk to her boss. Apparently her shift manager had put her time off on the wrong weekend and there was no one to cover her. Seeing as it was going to be busy because of the long weekend she had to cancel on her friends. My dad also stayed as he wasn't close to the girls. The four friends went anyway. On their way to the campsite, on the mountain highway, the road gave way sending their car into a near by lake. My mom's two friends drowned along with one of their boyfriends'. Only one survived. If that mistake by my mom's manger hadn't happened I might not even be here..
Tbh she shouldn't have stayed to work because unless she said the date wrong, that was her shift managers mistake. Not to say shw should die for it, of course.
This isnt a scary one, but it is one that determined the rest of my life. One day, in grade 3, I wasnt feeling well and wanted to stay home. But my mom wasnt in town and my dad couldnt stay home from work and take care of me. So I went to school anyway. Turned out, the highest ranking arts based junior high was visiting and performing, so the day was an assembly for them. The art was so cool, the band was so good, and that was when I decided I wanted to go there. Fast forward 3 years, I'm now in grade 6 and looking at junior highs I want to attend. I could either go to my designated junior high, or the art one. I applied for the art one and got in! During my three years there, I tried literally every form of art. I got super into painting and drawing. Then it was time to look into high schools, and I didnt apply for any in time, so I was stuck going to the art school's designated. Turned out, that the high school had a 100% acceptance rate to Alberta University of the Arts. The art program was rigorous and so incredible. I spent my three years there living in the art room. Now I'm in my last year of high school, and I got accepted into the art university. If it wasnt for my mom being out of town, and my dad having a meeting at work that day, I would not be preparing for 6 years of art university
bro I have a similar story sort of :One of my teachers in middle school saw me drawing in class one day and thought I was good, so she dragged me to the art teacher and showed him my work. I went to his class the next year and he told me about an arts high school and college. I made it my goal to apply for my junior year when the time came! so I applied after working on my portfolio for a while and I got in, I’m currently still attending the school and I’m applying for art colleges soon! if my teacher in 6th grade hadn’t dragged me to the art room I probably wouldn’t have ever heard of the school. It’s so dope that we both found our schools thru tiny little moments
Sarah Russell actually, they are. not everyone becomes a studio artist after they finish art school either. you can get a degree in design and production (multiple programs but I’m narrowing it down) and go on to be a successful scene painter/ lighting designer. you ever heard of hunter schafer? from euphoria? she went to an arts high school (specialized art school/college program as well) and she is now an actress, model and artist. she went to art school. she graduated. she is now very successful bc a school like that gave her amazing opportunities (aka young arts) that launched her career and fame. also, have u ever considered that some people just want to study art because it makes them happy? they are aloud to be proud of their art/ the school that they go to. no need to be rude about it. 💕
Ah, I never get tired of hearing you narrate horror stories. You get the atmosphere exactly where it needs to be with your voice- right between relaxing and chilling. ♥♥♥
I've seen a lot of commenters posting their butterfly effect stories and I have one as well. When I was in middle school, I went with my mom and younger brother to visit my grandparents in New Orleans. As a quick bit of backstory, we were planning on going home that Saturday morning after about a week long visit, but our flight was cancelled because a blizzard hit our home state and made it incredibly dangerous to fly in. I also want to mention that my grandparents lived in a small retirement community and were staying in a friend's home while their new house was under construction just a short ways up the road. So we're expecting to be in New Orleans for at least the rest of the weekend and my grandmother decides to take my mom and brother to see the progress on the new house. I, being the typical 13-year-old, decided to stay behind at the house to watch television and my grandfather also stayed behind because he wasn't feeling too well. Before they leave, my mom gave me a rough idea of where they'd be going and asked me to come get them if we needed anything. So they left and I was quietly watching a show in the guest room. About 15 or 20 minutes later, my grandfather came into the doorway and simply said "Finn, I think I need to go to the hospital." I try my best not to panic and calmly tell my grandfather to go take a seat on the couch while I go to get my mom. I didn't have a cell phone back then and was way too young to drive, so my only option was to put on my shoes and book it down the road as fast as my short chubby hamster legs would go. I got to my mom, told her what was going on, and they rush my grandfather to the hospital. I was too young to remember exactly what happened after that - all I can remember for sure was that he'd been complaining of chest pains before I went on my mad dash and my mom trying to explain his heart complications to my brother and me as delicately as she could. Much to all our relief, my grandfather survived and is now 90 years old. I don't know how differently things could have played out if it hadn't been for the blizzard cancelling out flight or if I'd decided to go with my mom, brother, and grandmother to see the new house, but regardless, I'm glad I was there when my grandfather needed me.
I love these Butterfly effect stories! They're so creepy, and they really make you think about life, and the concept of fate. Please do more of these!!
Actually haven’t been on this channel for about 7/8 months, I have no idea why, it’s just amazing and I can listen to Lazy for hours, I first found you a few years ago when you had 300k subs or something and to come back to the channel and see how far you’ve come is amazing, keep up the scary work
I’m currently on my fourth year of college (not a senior unfortunately), but near the end of my sophomore year of college, there was a party at these really nice student apartments/townhouses called Aspen Heights. The college students like going there to turn up now because security are usually there and it’s gated, so it’s perceived to be safer. Around this specific time though, it was gated but the gate was never really closed or in use (they have gotten way stricter now and rightfully so). Plus it’s nicer and has much more room. Anyway, around the end of the semester, there were people throwing end-of-the-semester parties and there was this really big one that I was hearing about and I wanted to go. I needed a break sooo bad. My brain was so overworked with papers and final exams and such. I was damn near exhausted, and I was going to take a little break from my studies to have fun for a night. My roommate, Teela, who was from Memphis and had a very bad attitude (but we were friends; kinda like an arguing sister type) was telling me to just finish my paper and hurry up and do it so we can go to this party and I won’t have obligations that weekend. I was going to ignore her instructions because I felt like she always was trying to tell me what to do, but I didn’t even want to argue with her and I knew she was telling me the right thing anyway. So I just went to the computer lab in my friend’s dorm and worked on my paper so I could just get it over with. It took me a while to finish and I was already drained. I was going to quit and resume the next day but I didn’t wanna have to complete work over the weekend like Teela said. So even as the party had already started, I stood persistent in finishing my work. Literally as soon as I got to my references page and was about to cite my sources, I noticed I missed three calls from three different people who were gonna meet Teela and me at the party. I called the first two back and they didn’t answer the phone. When I called the third, the first thing I heard was a stern, “where you at?” I started explaining that I’m almost done with my paper and they can go ahead inside the party (they were waiting outside for us in the parking lot). They instantly go into frantic details about how someone random walked into the party and started shooting at random people, and they were standing in the front door so no one could leave. There was a back door, but people were falling over each other and panicking and a lot of people didn’t know about there being a back door because we were relatively new to campus and didn’t know much about those townhouses. Luckily the friend who was on the phone with me stayed in the car the whole time and waited for me, so she was seeing the actual person standing in the door as she was on the phone with me. The other two friends were inside the party. 7 people got hurt, and 3 got killed. One who was killed was a senior and was about to graduate in just a week. One of those shot but only injured was one of the girls I was calling, and I knew a couple others who got shot but not killed. The person in the door ran out of bullets and was jumped by some guys at the party and restrained until the cops came. There was also plenty of marijuana and underage drinkers (which would have been me if I was there) and many people, even through this crisis, got citations for possession. I was still typing my paper as I was hearing these scary details and I immediately started calling some of my other friends who I knew were there and they were telling me the story from different perspectives. Nonetheless, I was so grateful that day to have let Teela tell me what to do and boss me around. If I didn’t do that, I would have been in the party as that happened, and my stay-by-the-door instincts that I have at most parties I go to could have taken my life. From there on, I have been very careful about what parties I attend and where.
Ok so this takes place in El Salvador in the 80's, when my mom was 11 and aunt was 15. So my aunt had been working to help support their family since she was 10, and my mom decided one day that she wanted to go to work with her. Now my aunt normally took one specific route to her work, and never changed it up, because that was the least tiring route and a friend of hers would meet her around a quarter of the way there and they would walk to work together. But that day, since my mom was with her, she decided to take her a longer way, just to fuck with my mom a little. That ended up saving both their lives. My aunt's friend was abducted by a group of men who raped and killed her and would have gotten my mom and my aunt as well if they had gone down that route. They were caught a few weeks later, but when they found out what had happened, my aunt never went that way to work ever again. That little bit of pettiness saved their lives, and it trips me out every time I think about it.
That last story brought a tear to my eye. Two acts of kindness from a nobody changed the course of history for everyone on the planet. One big act to save the boy from the bog, and the second not to accept payment for a good deed which singlehandedly revolutionised the world in medicine, politics, and war.
Diver problems, FOR REAL! I don’t what’s scarier, Delta P or a tank failure. Probably the Delta P, considering that (hopefully) my dive buddy’s tank worked just fine THANK YOU LAZY, now I’ve got another diving fear....
Courtney Schilling “Delta-P” means “change in pressure.” If you look it up, it shows the Greek symbol “Delta” as a triangle, which means a change in some physical/chemical characteristic. During a flash change in pressure, objects in the medium with originally higher pressure move to the new area with lower pressure to balance out the pressure difference. In this case for diving, since you’re underneath the water, there is more atmospheric pressure weighing down on you. Being in that environment, if you open up something (like a pipe) with a pressure level similar to land, which is lower than in water, you’ll get sucked into whatever space has this lower pressure, whatever size the orifice is. It’s really only catastrophic if the pressure difference is very large. You should look up a video of the “Byford Dolphin Incident” (which is more of a tremendous tragedy) that’s about 4.5 minutes long. It’s probably the most famous Delta-P related incident, but I warn you the video has an EXTREMELY gory photo. It depicts the aftermath of one of the victim’s bodies when it was sucked though a hole the size of a clock face
My dad is a underwater welder as well, and he’s told me stories of certain incidents that have occurred while he was on the job. I was planning to follow his footsteps, but he has convinced me that there are better jobs to pick, so I’m just gonna take his advice.
12348642135789643 98764699542224214 I’m a combat medic in the Army and I’ve seen people with no arms or legs with blood everywhere, but I couldn’t even imagine seeing someone get sucked into a pipe and just die.....
Don't know if this is Butterfly Effect or just good karma but: in the 1980's there was a huge plane crash in Louisiana where nearly everyone was killed. There were 3 girls who were on standby and they were planning to go to Las Vegas. There were 2 standby seats available, so 2 of the 3 girls took them. Then on the plane, they looked at each other and said "this isn't right " (meaning leaving their friend alone to catch a separate flight) and they deboarded the plane. Minutes later, the plane crashed soon after takeoff.
Ever since that game "Until Dawn" came out, I think about the butterfly effect a lot, and probably to an unhealthy degree. I have driving anxiety and when I'm trying to decide when to leave a place, I wonder if leaving right now or leaving in 5 minutes could be enough difference to determine if I get in a car wreck. For all I know, someone on the road now who is driving recklessly won't meet me at a certain intersection because I leave a few minutes later. That definitely adds to my driving anxiety, but much like the anxiety itself, is pointless and only harmful. There's no way to know what chance encounters you'll have at certain times, so there's no use in overthinking it.
True, but I am glad I am not the only one doing this ... My mother's colleague and her entire family would have been on the Russian plane that was blown up two years ago, had her mother not broken a leg half the world away, which made them change planes last minute to fly to Germany instead... This just creeps me out constantly...
You mentioned the game Until Dawn, which I agree is a very good game. However, in my opinion, the best game with a butterfly effect type is Life Is Strange. It actually makes me think about the Butterfly Effect movies because you can somewhat rewind time to make a different choice.
@@NickPeters-oi3dr If I didn't discover "Until Dawn", I will not be searching about Butterfly Effect stories, and watching these comments and encounter this suggestion of yours. Now I'm playing "Life Is Strange" and became one of my favorite games.
A few weeks ago I was feeling really out of it when I woke up for my morning class, so I ended up sleeping for another 10 minutes. On my way to class I had to go around one of the intersections I’d normally pass through because there was an accident. At around that time the person on the radio said that that accident had happened about 10 minutes before. Not as crazy as some of these but it still kinda spooked me out when it happened.
Every time I read comments about “butterfly effects” saving someone from an event that would have killed them like a car wreck or plane crash....all that I can imagine is that damn first final destination movie. I just think, wonder when it’s going to catch back up to them
That last one is a classic! I should think that a few of these were cases of good and bad karma (the lottery ticket, the soldiers and the goulag inmates come to mind.)
None of them were butterfly effect. And the last one? it is a children's old story, old as fairy tales, edited to accommodate one of the most horrible men in the human XX century.
my mom just got home after an hour from the roxas night market, and who knew - a bomb explosion happened there after minutes of their departure. she went with her friend who has a baby, and since the baby was getting tantrums, both decided to head home. still creeps me out to be honest.
Once when my sister was a child I saved her from choking on food.20yrs later my niece saved my mother from choking.if I never saved her mom she could never have saved mine her grandmother.
The yellow sweater story back to back with Winston/Flemming was excellent. Reminded me of when little kids try to tell stories at adult parties and everyone pats their heads.
Will Anderson yep and cause of that it cost the lives of millions and theres not peace on earch, churchill not being born would maybe saved humanity from what it will become
I have a butterfly effect story I can share(I am not sure it is one though). So my great grandfather was in WWI, he was training to be a fighter pilot. Usually fighter pilots didn't last long in ww1, the life expectancy was two weeks. It was Christmas Eve, my great grandfather was drunk and riding a motorcycle. And you guessed it, he crashed and broke his arm. This led him to be an officer instead of a Pilot. Turns out the guy who decided to drive my great grandfather's plane was killed from the engine malfunctioning (I don't know if it malfunctioned or caught fire it was one of them), but either way it made the man crash. It's weird, if my great grandfather didn't break his arm, he probably would've had the same fate. My mind is blown.
My father skipped his breakfast in the morning,in his cousin's house, when he was in Germany, just because he ran late, and then the rest of them who ate the breakfast died, due to poisoning.
The Champion My dad is still alive...Some of my dad's cousins died...Like my second cousins or something...I never had the chance to see them other than old pictures and videographs I can see...
i had people break in and rob my house on my birthday in 2017, and i was gone for 30 minutes, and they stole everything and ransacked my house. i left to go to class, but it was an extra credit day because it’s right before memorial weekend and my professor didn’t want to start a new lesson, so we didn’t have to go. but i decided to go. that whole situation freaks me out till this day. the police never caught the group of people who robbed my house, went through all of my belongings, saw my family photos, sat on my bed, dumped out all of our drawers, stole every family heirloom, and took everything of value in my home. my childhood home was ruined for me. i had really bad issues being home alone, answering the door, and constantly thinking about whether i would’ve stayed home for that 30 minutes. the police said that i had to of come home right after they left. i feel so lucky, but the what if freaks me out. then, 2 weeks later the windows of my car were smashed. only mine. nothing stolen, just out of spite. i thought i was going to get murdered next.
Not quite sure if this counts as The Butterfly Effect, but I avoided being murdered over ten years ago by taking a different route home than usual. Both routes took the same amount of time, but at the time, it was night, and the bridge I used was very dark, so I took the roads instead. The next morning, on the news was a story about a girl being murdered on the bridge, estimated around the time I was considering walking of it to get home. Gang related, the Police reckoned it was a case of mistaken identity, the girlfriend of a rival gang leader was the actual target. That could have been me, had I used the bridge. Still frightens me to this day. Sorry if that doesn't count as one.
Yeah something similar happend to me. I went to vegas to see jason aldean.. Had the wristband and made it to the parking lot. But all of a sudden my leg started hurting so i stayed in the car to rest a bit.. 15minutes later the shooting happened in route 91.. wonder what would have happened if my leg didnt hurt
This video got me saying "damn, that's crazy" at every story. Keep up the amazing stories. Love listening to these at work, during drives, in bed, all the time!
I have many but i don't know if this is luck or what, but one day, i was with my brother on a pier,it was closed but we had decided to go to the end anyway. Knowing we were not supposed to be there, when we heard voices coming towards us we looked to hide somewhere, a box lay nearby, we got inside and shut the lid, waiting until the voices passed us by. They did and after a moment, we went to get out. The lid would not move, we were locked in. This was not a large box, it just fit the two of us, we were only 13 and 14 at the time, it was tight, and dark of course, it was in the late afternoon and autumn, so it was cold and starting to get dark. We panicked, kicked at the lid as best we could. Nothing, the box moved but the lid stayed locked. We hammered and screamed. Still nothing. We were now terrified and desperately kicked and hit the sides. Suddenly the lid opened, one of the voices we had heard was a fisherman and they had keys to the gate we had climbed which is just past the public entertainments area, the fishing ended at the time he had been departing although we had not known this, so he and his friend had been leaving. The box we climbed into was just a box of random ropes, lifebelts etc, it had a latch catch so it could be padlocked but whilst it was easy to open, when the lid had gone down, it had fallen over the catch and stuck. Because he thought he had left some tackle behind he had returned. He saw the box moving and heard our screams. This may not seem like much, what is the worst that could have happened, the box wasn't airtight, in fact it had holes along the bottom, so a night in a box until the pier opened again? Well in fact we had been in a box that was already close to the edge of the pier, although fencing was around the piers edge, the box would have fit under the bottom edge of it and we, in our attempts to kick and hammer our way out had been nudging it towards the edge. Had we in our fearful state continued our attempts, we would have slid that box over the edge into the deep water off the end of the pier and sunk locked inside that box which quickly would have filled with water and become our tomb.
@@evanw2195 Yea well we were kids and not wanting to be in trouble for being where we were not meant to be so yeah back then we were scaredy cats at that moment
First off, great pronoun game! :P Second off, yes you would, as the story is made up :) If you want a butterfly Alexander went into medicine because one of his older brothers was a doctor, and he discovered penicillin by accident because he didn't keep his lap very tidy and left some samples out when he went on holiday :P
My great aunt had a butterfly effect happen to her in NYC in the 1920s. She was a young artist living in the big city, she was about to cross the street when a car nearly struck her, she was pulled out of the way and fell into this man's arms. Ends up it was Conde Nast himself, he was struck by her beauty and hired her as a model.
Here's one from my family! My granddad on my dad's side was a submariner in WW2 in the UK. He was stationed on a lot of submarines including HMS Hood, which is quite a famous submarine. The night of it sinking, he was due to be stationed on it, but burned his foot badly after accidentally pouring boiling water on it. He couldn't go on the submarine that night- and, as a result, survived. His best friend also died on that ship- only three people lived.
if the guy from the second story actually spent more time and found his shirt, nothing might have happened as there would be a time gap and they could of missed what they hit in the collision.
@@semperfidelification I'm referring to the "time gap". The show would still go on as scheduled and they would've left at the same time regardless. If we wanna go deeper, a crash takes seconds. If he had just left with hus friends jnstead of explaining he was staying and catchjng a cab, they may have missed it.
I could listen to you talk all day long. I was going to go out to the store and buy some snacks, but sat and listened to a few of your videos. Maybe you just saved me from a tragedy! ;)
Although an interesting story, the Alexander Fleming-Winston Churchill story is not in any way true. There are a bunch of different versions of it, ones where the father saves Winston, ones where Alexander saves him, ones where they simply fix their carriage. The reality is he didn't go to medical school until he was in his 20's after serving in the military, working at a shipping office for several years, and inheriting some money from an uncle. Although he had an incredible story, the Churchill's taking him off to London and paying for his medical education at a young age was not part of it, nor was the part about Churchill being saved by penicillin, as he was actually treated with sulfonamide.
In fact the (demonstrably false) Fleming Churchill story is the only one in this video that actually qualifies as a butterfly effect story; the others are just lucky coincidences that apparently did not affect anything other than the protagonist surviving and/or getting together with a mate. A butterfly effect is a small event that over time develops larger and larger consequences, as in the flapping of a butterfly's wings resulting over time in a hurricane somewhere else. The first stories do not have any hurricanes.
Or we never know they’ve happened. Like a thief getting caught due to something completely unrelated just a few minutes before gunning down the store he was about to rob 😳
So, I just experienced a butterfly effect for probably the first time in my life today, or at least the first time it involved something as series as potential death. For over a year my parents have been planning a 2 week cruise with another couple that are their best friends. They originally planned to fly down to Miami today and spend a day there, then leave on the cruise the following day, but due to the cruise starting point moving to Ft Lauderdale and the other couple's kids deciding they were going to come home for Easter, they decided instead to fly down on April 2nd. This decision saved the husbands life. Today he complained of chest pains and was taken to the hospital, where nurses immediately noticed he was suffering from a S T Elevated Myocardial Infarction, or STEMI for short. A STEMI is an extremely dangerous type of heart attack where a major artery in the heart is suffering from a blockage. The amount that this artery was blocked? 95%. Had he been on a plane at the time of the heart attack, there is a very good chance he would not have survived.
Most of those are just coincidents. The butterfly effect is a chain reaction, where one comparatively small occurrence causes sometimes bigger to happen, which causes at least one even more significant thing, that you would never have expected the first to cause, to happen. If it's just one thing causing something greater to happen, it's not a CHAIN REACTION, it's just a REACTION. And the prison camp story doesn't count for three reasons,: 1, it's only a reaction, 2, it's predictable, most people would want to save someone who risked their life for them, and 3, both are of equal impact, a life is saved, causing another life to be saved.
For the titanic story, my moms great grandparents and their family were supposed to be on the titanic, but I think one of the siblings was sick. So if that sibling was not sick, well, I would not be typing this message now. Man the butterfly effect is crazy.
My mom and I had to go to book a place for my 6th birthday party a day prior to my birthday but somehow I was feeling sick that day and we dint go that day had the worst flooding my city has ever seen more than 1000 people died in the flood and there was no way we would’ve survived it as our area was the most flooded out of all

I have a pretty crazy story: Backstory: I work construction and excavation which requires me to wear full PPE all the time at work. Normally I'm extremely orderly with my gear I always put it in the same spot so it's ready for the next morning. But one day I slipped and fell into a big puddle and my boots and work jacket got wet since there was only about 20 minutes left of work I decided to power thru it and take it to my moms to dry as she has a wood stove that would dry it faster than anything I had. The next morning I forgot about my gear and started panicking that I couldn't find it but then I remembered it was at my mom's so I drove over there and phoned my boss to let him know I'd be a few minutes late. While on my way back I was stop by some police and told to find another way to work. Turns out about 15 minutes prior there was a major car accident where 4 cars were involved. Had I not fell in that puddle and forgot about my gear I would have been right in the middle of the accident and probably killed...
that last one is actually incredible, oh my god, my jaw legit dropped, haha, sitting here like i'm ready to catch flies! I'm glad you posted another butterfly effect story. I love them, and have quite a few that have affected my life... I think I might share them here, in the comments, since so many people do already. A long long time ago, when I was very little, my father passed away due to cancer. It was hard, because my mom was left raising three young children on her own. A few years after that, a close friend of the family decided that she needed to get out of the house, and paid for a trip for us to go to Wisconsin Dells (a giant waterpark that's very popular in the upper midwest). My mom jumped on the chance and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. I loved water, but wasn't quite able to handle myself in deeper water yet, seeing as I was only around 6 or 7 and didn't know how to swim. They had this giant slide, though, that was simply fantastic. Long and loopy, and FUN! It lead right into deep water, though, and i needed my mom to be at the bottom of the slide in order to catch me so I didn't drown. This worked and I went down it multiple times before she got tired and decided to take a dip in the hot tub with the close family friend. I went with her (being the clingy little child I was) and waited for her to be done talking so I could go down the slide again. Maybe 15 minutes passed with her just chatting away, and that was pretty much the extent of my little patience. I begged and nagged for her to come with me to go down the slide again, and she accidentally brushed me off with a "yeah, yeah." I took this as her agreeing to come with me, and quickly jumped up and walked as fast as my little legs could take me to the stairs leading up to the top. I remember distinctly looking through the little openings in the steps to see if she was indeed following, and sure enough, she'd decided that exact moment to step out of the hot tub with her friend. Seeing this, I saw no reason to hesitate trekking the rest of the way up the steps; my mom was just going to be at the bottom of the slide, waiting for me, after all. Nothing in this world has filled me with more dread than making the final curve around the slide, about to reach the bottom, only to see empty water. My mom wasn't there. I panicked, and hit the water, thrashing. I didn't know how to swim, my feet couldn't touch the bottom, I couldn't even properly hold my breath at the time. I was at the complete mercy of the water. the rest of this is very blurry, but I remember trying to breath in water and choking. I began to sink under the surface, thrashing around, all while the top of the water was just barely above me. I had my eyes open, unaware of how bad chlorine stings, and I just watched as the lights from the ceiling started turning black. I obviously didn't drown. Fortunately, two teenagers saw me go under and rushed to my rescue. They pulled me up above the water and continuously asked if I was okay. I can't remember their names, but I remember their faces. A brother and a sister. The worst part of this all is I went under right in front of the lifeguard, who was reading a book. I spent the next few days coughing up a lung with a terrible chest cold, but the entire thing inspired my mom to sign me up for swim lessons as soon as possible. And now, I'm like a fish in the water. But to think, I could have very well died if it weren't for that brother and sister being so perceptive of my circumstance. So, so many things went /just/ right for me to almost drown. (please note, my mom is not at all a neglegent parent, she's loving and kind and takes very good care of my sisters and I, she was just having a good time talking to one of the only friends who stuck around after my dad's death. If anything, the experience was more scarring for her, seeing as she could have lost a husband and a child.)
- Xiirus - I am working on a degree in the STEM field. My favorite professor gave me a tip. His husband (he was History proffesor, specializing in Egyptology) would explain and describe historical events and their significance to their nieces and nephews. That helped him better teach and such. But being that he worked in science, there is lots of big words and technical terms for a little kid. So he would do the same with his dogs. Had the same affect he thought. So that's what I did. Whenever I had issues understanding a concept or whatever, I would try to explain it to my dog. I know she will never understand but it was helpful to both us. She knows I'm not ignoring her during my long study sessions, plus she gets treats. And it helped me with remembering, grasping the core concept, pronunciation, ect. It became a habit. I'm sure I'm not the only one that talks to their dog. But I may be the only one that talks to them about Australopithecus africanus.
Everytime I hear you narrating I absolutely know I'm gonna enjoy whatever it is ur covering. You've got one of those enthused voices and a style that keeps me and I'm sure many others 'captivated'. You were obviously born for th part. "Big Up You".. 😉 x
My Dad used to study in Duke university during the early 2000s to take his masters degree in Law one day a law firm situated in new york asked him to apply but it was too because he had gotten a call earlier from another law firm in the pacific , that law firm situated in New York was at the twin towers , my Dad doesn't know what happened to them.
I've been to Ho chi min tunnels in Vietnam, they widened some of the tunnels so Westerners could crawl through them for their tourist trips, and even on all fours your back was still touching the top of the tunnel, just the thought of the horrors of what both sides went through is so overwhelming.
I had one of these moments. When I was twenty I had recked my first car by being stupid and texting and driving so by luck my mothers boyfriend sold me his sons old car for only 400 bucks, as a broke collage kid I was excited. It came with a few issues but that's to be expected for such a cheep price. I always had a thing for naming my cars, this one I lovingly named grimm cause it felt at every turn it tried to kill me. The visor only sometimes would stay put but when ever I was crossing an intersection or need to pay close attention to traffic the flaps would fall down blinding me for a few seconds, other small things would happen but the biggest one was my mom decided as a gift to her broke daughter in need because winter was comeing soon she bought me all new tires. After I departed with her at the tire shop I went to a friend's house to hang out. After a few hours she wanted to go to another friend's house, she asked me to tag along. This is where I made my choice. I could either go home for the night which would have meant I would take the highway doing a sold 70mph home to get ready for work the next day or take the back streets to the friends house and mess around with friends. I threw caution to the wind and decided to stay out later then I planned and went to the friends apartment. As I'm pulling into the parking spot my whole tire just snapped of from the frame. The bolts and the axel where rushed to hell. To this day, I wonder what would have happened had I chosen to take the highway home and have my tire snap off while going high speeds. I'm sure I would have died. The repair cost to fix Grimm was higher then the price I paid for the car itself, so I decided to sell him to a junk yard. It's still a crazy thought that being a reckless adult wanting to hang out instead of sleeping for work ended up saving my life.
Hellion - in all honesty I wanted to just go home, I wanted to sleep but my gut told me to stay out making the decision felt like I was on auto pilot because it really wasn't my first choice.

This is a true Butterfly Effect. One person's actions, determined the actions of a second person, at a later time.
Thank you for sharing.
Finally an excuse
Im gonna have to start planting comment bread crumbs so I can remember which vids I've listened to. Lol

Yeah more of a premonition but still close, say if he felt ill the night before then never went would be more of a butterfly effect but still weird.
So in essence, your parents used the spiritual art of premonition to murder your fathers coworker while they kicked back watching television...🤨🤔😮
@@BelzebubsTube laughing and pointing
@@BelzebubsTube you have some messed up logic
But if your father was driving he wouldn't have got to that point at the same time, resulting in no accident

That's truly a "butterfly effect" ;)
Billy Gillespie I found out that the red colors in orbs and stuff means protection! I always assumed it was a bad color! Lol that red butterfly made you stop. 🛑 ♥️
Audrey Mills my grandma always told me its natures warning lol we are both redheads so it was something she’d say a lot 😂

I was about 5 minutes away from being a 15 year old girl, home alone playing Pokémon with no pants on, while a meth head broke into my house.

the Winston Churchhill story for some reason gave me goosebumps! so cool. yes i would love more stories like this, they are awesome. thanks Lazy.
I'm related to Winston Churchill. The first story is extremely terrifying

Unfortunately, it is not true. A cool story but it did not happen. Fleming moved to London when he was 14 with his brother. He received the money for medical school from an inheritance from his uncle. Winston also was not treated with penicillin, he was given sulphonamide when he was ill.

Would she have swapped flights/connected flight? Cus Brussels is in Belgium, not Germany. Disturbing thought though :l

Okay, sorry! Just got a little confused, it is a disturbing story :l, glad she is okay.

You should give that manager a hug lol
And cool pic, is that you?
Hes a life saver
Tbh she shouldn't have stayed to work because unless she said the date wrong, that was her shift managers mistake. Not to say shw should die for it, of course.
Holy shit that's scary..😱😱😱😱
@@JakLegendd while yes, it was the shift manger's mistake, there still was no one to cover the shift and so she had to work.
Great results!!
bro I have a similar story sort of :One of my teachers in middle school saw me drawing in class one day and thought I was good, so she dragged me to the art teacher and showed him my work.
Arts degrees are not even useful, why are you proud of that?
Sarah Russell you sound really bitter about something. Are you OK?
Ah, I never get tired of hearing you narrate horror stories. You get the atmosphere exactly where it needs to be with your voice- right between relaxing and chilling. ♥♥♥

Butterfly Effect stories are one of my favorites behind Glitch in the Matrix and Skinwalker stories. So excited to see Lazy post again!!

That Nirvana shirt story gave me chills. 😨😨😨

Damn my mom's from el Salvador too she's got some pretty scary stories

That last story brought a tear to my eye. Two acts of kindness from a nobody changed the course of history for everyone on the planet. One big act to save the boy from the bog, and the second not to accept payment for a good deed which singlehandedly revolutionised the world in medicine, politics, and war.
Apparently that one is a myth though..

Delta P is one of my biggest fears.
Same
Diver problems, FOR REAL! I don’t what’s scarier, Delta P or a tank failure. Probably the Delta P, considering that (hopefully) my dive buddy’s tank worked just fine
THANK YOU LAZY, now I’ve got another diving fear....
Courtney Schilling Where was your friend’s dad diving when this happened to him?
Haleigh Foster don’t be sorry, I needed a good small laugh to relieve the tension and fear. Thanks :)

Was just about to comment that
Don't know if this is Butterfly Effect or just good karma but: in the 1980's there was a huge plane crash in Louisiana where nearly everyone was killed.
That’s almost like Final Destination {the first film}, and creepy.
@@mirandalyneetestewart3083 I was thinking the same thing
This isn’t really the butterfly effect, it’s more so like a sensing something is wrong thing. There’s a word for it but I can’t think of it

I love the butterfly effect. It's so mysterious and creepy
Look up glitch in the matrix. They are so good. If you like butterfly effect youll also like Glitch in the matrix
I think it explains the multi world theory
Anny Phoenix that’s terrifying, I’m glad they’re safe
You mentioned the game Until Dawn, which I agree is a very good game. However, in my opinion, the best game with a butterfly effect type is Life Is Strange. It actually makes me think about the Butterfly Effect movies because you can somewhat rewind time to make a different choice.
"Until Dawn" brought me here, if you ask me.
@@NickPeters-oi3dr If I didn't discover "Until Dawn", I will not be searching about Butterfly Effect stories, and watching these comments and encounter this suggestion of yours. Now I'm playing "Life Is Strange" and became one of my favorite games.
"remember to smash that like button or I'll smash you"
Honestly, why can't I have both?
PixiePrincess501 The story is not true. Look it up. Its a myth.
I figured it was. I was only saying they sound like cases of karmic justice.

My father skipped his breakfast in the morning,in his cousin's house, when he was in Germany, just because he ran late, and then the rest of them who ate the breakfast died, due to poisoning.

i had people break in and rob my house on my birthday in 2017, and i was gone for 30 minutes, and they stole everything and ransacked my house. i left to go to class, but it was an extra credit day because it’s right before memorial weekend and my professor didn’t want to start a new lesson, so we didn’t have to go. but i decided to go. that whole situation freaks me out till this day. the police never caught the group of people who robbed my house, went through all of my belongings, saw my family photos, sat on my bed, dumped out all of our drawers, stole every family heirloom, and took everything of value in my home. my childhood home was ruined for me. i had really bad issues being home alone, answering the door, and constantly thinking about whether i would’ve stayed home for that 30 minutes. the police said that i had to of come home right after they left. i feel so lucky, but the what if freaks me out. then, 2 weeks later the windows of my car were smashed. only mine. nothing stolen, just out of spite. i thought i was going to get murdered next.

Barry Mead so your scaredy cat self’s almost got you stuck in a box lmao

Way to ruin a good story. lmao
U suck
In fact the (demonstrably false) Fleming Churchill story is the only one in this video that actually qualifies as a butterfly effect story; the others are just lucky coincidences that apparently did not affect anything other than the protagonist surviving and/or getting together with a mate. A butterfly effect is a small event that over time develops larger and larger consequences, as in the flapping of a butterfly's wings resulting over time in a hurricane somewhere else. The first stories do not have any hurricanes.
@Your Majesty that story was HOOPLAH!
Honestly, the thought of one seemingly innocent choice setting off a chain of events is terrifying.
We all have these BE stories, we just sometimes never know how important they are till we look back
Or we never know they’ve happened. Like a thief getting caught due to something completely unrelated just a few minutes before gunning down the store he was about to rob 😳
Yeah. I like to believe that's just how life works. It's just about cause and effect
My grandfather on my mother's side served in Vietnam. He had a grenade blow up next to him but luckily it only damaged his hearing.
And the prison camp story doesn't count for three reasons,: 1, it's only a reaction, 2, it's predictable, most people would want to save someone who risked their life for them, and 3, both are of equal impact, a life is saved, causing another life to be saved.
agreed, it was sort of annoying to listen to a bunch of pure lucky coincidences rather than interesting butterfly effect stories I was hoping to hear.
the sweater one is essentially: "my grandad liked my gramas boobs OR I WOULDNT BE HERE!" lol

I have a pretty crazy story:
Backstory: I work construction and excavation which requires me to wear full PPE all the time at work.

Devon Rigsbee The last story is not true. You can look it up online. Its a myth.
My bulldog discovered butterflies on our walk yesterday. Can't wait to see her face when I explain to her what butterfly effect is.
Not sure she will understand but ok
I dont get this
- Xiirus - I am working on a degree in the STEM field.
Probably puzzled.
Everytime I hear you narrating I absolutely know I'm gonna enjoy whatever it is ur covering. You've got one of those enthused voices and a style that keeps me and I'm sure many others 'captivated'. You were obviously born for th part. "Big Up You".. 😉 x
So fucking happy for this. I listen to your old butterfly effect videos and the glitch in the matrix ones. These are my most fav! Thank you lazy!

I've been to Ho chi min tunnels in Vietnam, they widened some of the tunnels so Westerners could crawl through them for their tourist trips, and even on all fours your back was still touching the top of the tunnel, just the thought of the horrors of what both sides went through is so overwhelming.
OH MY GOD YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR ANOTHER ONE OF THESE
+Kerina Me too, I tried to look for other stories after the last video. Definitely worth the wait. :)
don't use God's name in vain naughty child
Amen man
Hellion - in all honesty I wanted to just go home, I wanted to sleep but my gut told me to stay out making the decision felt like I was on auto pilot because it really wasn't my first choice.
