Great video, I went on my ride in a block 60 exactly 1 month and 1 day after you just down the road at the 162nd in Tucson, so we flew over the same training area, definitely a career highlight.
you have general info like heading (bottom Hud) , speed (Left) , and clock (below STPT 57, right of VHF 14) on the hud screen you can guestimate with a flight map and a compass to help calulate an idea
@jake1729 I just lived out a dream for the last 10 min or so, at least vicariously through you. Thank you for sharing this event that I am quite sure you deserve. I'd also like to thank you for your service to our country, and wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
@MacPro8CoreMan Thanks, man. It was quite the experience. I find myself thinking about it at usually once a day, even though it was over two years ago. I think what I was most surprised about is how BLUE the sky is when you nothing over your head (like luggage compartments). It was a cloudy day and once we broke through the cloud cover, it was like flying into heaven, with the sun shining and blue skies. It's too bad the video is black and white. Merry Christmas to you too!
@fauxbravic That's awesome. Yeah, the stick is very sensitive. I was shocked by that. It was also surprising about the pilot's overall demeanor :-) I too am proud to say I didn't need the sack, and stayed awake during the 9G pull. It was such a memorable experience. I was most surprised by how BLUE the sky is when you have a clear canopy over your head. You could see so much.
Indeed we did, the stick is quite sensitive, we took turns evading and locking onto the other incentive ride that was up with us, the Gs were ridiculous. I was proud to not pass out on the 9G turn and return with my unused sic sack. The max take off was kick ass I must say. It's entertaining to be doing these insane maneuvers all the while the pilot is just casually conversing the whole time.
@DreamAboutSpace Hey there... I don't think the Fuel Level is shown on this screen. There are 3 screen you can see in the cockpit. One of the other ones had the information. Towards the end, he sets indicators for the fuel level, and then the computer started yelling at you when it got to a certain level.
Nice video!! I took a ride in '08 tdy in Hawaii. Hard to find an 8mm player to watch mine. Pilot for a day is the Best day of your life. After my flight and 9.1Gs, I'll let them do it everyday lol. Next ride use some rudder to keep that nose steady in turns. My pilot didn't know that was hardcore into flight sims.
you were east of lake havasu in the mountian ranges south of Kingman. I flew it on FSX in a D model with centerline. i got bingo 20 sec after your jet in the video lol.
@k2477456 It's an reward given by the Air Force, and other branches I assume, for exceptional performance by personnel. The F-16 ride is the "Incentive" to do well in one's job.
@kershiniiken20 No, I didn't request it. The helmet cam (from what I understand) is the same view as the pilot's helmet HUD. So when he turns his head, the directional information also turns respectively. The file for the helmet cam was on the single tape I got after the completion of my flight. There were NOT two separate tracks. Let me know if you have any other questions...
@damoonstar912 No. After we pulled the 7g, the pilot said, "Do you want to try 9g; it's about the same 7?" Well, actually, it's not. 9g is much more intense than 7. Anywho, right towards the end of our 9g pull, I started getting a little bit lightheaded, and things starting getting a bit dark, but I was awake the whole time.
Hey, that's great! I think my pilot moved the rudders 'back' (they are foot controls, correct?) When I got in, he somehow slid them back so that I couldn't touch them. Question for you: is there anyone to tell a location (i.e., longitude / latitude) from the video? I am making a mashup on Google Earth following my flight path. I can easily do the take off (since it's at Luke), but after that, I really have no idea where we are. Thanks!!!
@superskullmaster Yeah, looking back, I wish I would have done it more aggressively. Honestly, in the middle of it with everything else going on though, it was just a lot to consider (at least in my mind :-)). They told us in the pre-flight briefing, "You cannot do ANYTHING to break this aircraft. So have at it!"
Great video, you lucky bastard! It would have made things a lot easier to hear if not for the music, tho. I'd love to see one with no music so we can hear what's going on. Otherwise I'm about as jealous as I can be.
@yggseleaf out the obvious and call it a aileron roll? so yeh understand? But then again there might be other sort of rolls which then I'm wrong so yeh :)
@yggseleaf well I wouldn't really call it a joke but Ailerons make the aircraft bank and if held long enough make the aircraft do a roll. Elevators on the other hand make the aircraft decrease or increase in altitude by changing its pitch; then theres the rudder which changes the yaw rudders are hard to explain so yeh if you don't know what yaw is google that shit. Alright now that you know that, how could he achieve a roll with rudders or elevators, theres only the ailerons, so why point..
Thanks for watching! I've never played Falcon 4 BMS... I normally just mess around on Google Earth (I've done the take off and landing from Luke AFB numerous times for fun). But, Falcon 4 looks awesome - is the cockpit view pretty realistic?
I was holding my breath the entire time! My son just did his. So proud of you guys :)
great vid!! congrats on the 9G pull, that was awesome!!

Sheila, thanks for your kind comments! I trust that your son enjoyed it tremendously as well!

That would be the Arizona State University Sun Devil Marching Band. I played trumpet with them for a few years. Good stuff!

@skipplet which is performed using ailerons, so its just another name used but still same roll.

Ok, I see. So basically track the heading and speed, and follow along on a map?

@fauxbravic That's awesome. Did you guys also do the same sort of maneuvers?
Can anyone tell me the band that plays the 20th Century Intro at the start of the video....BAD ASS!!!
Just got my flight last week in Bulgaria!!
Hey, that's great! I think my pilot moved the rudders 'back' (they are foot controls, correct?) When I got in, he somehow slid them back so that I couldn't touch them.

@gogogogoguck The pilot called it an aileron roll (not shown in this video). So, thus, me referring to it as an aileron roll. Works for me!
Great video, you lucky bastard! It would have made things a lot easier to hear if not for the music, tho. I'd love to see one with no music so we can hear what's going on. Otherwise I'm about as jealous as I can be.
Aileron roll? Haha since when was there a rudder or elevator roll? Anyway nice work, looked amazing!
I'm planning on going to Embry riddle which is based out of like afb
@yggseleaf why don't they just call it a roll?
@gypsykingg I received Airman of the Year at the 944FW in 2009.
Could you tell me where the fuel indicator is?
if there is one
so wheres the helmet cam again?
I was in your amu btw. QQMF!!
Really really cool vid
@jake1729 man he was not gonna let you guys get harmed. You should have just went for it. If you took 9 g's a roll is nothing to worry about.
@yggseleaf out the obvious and call it a aileron roll? so yeh understand? But then again there might be other sort of rolls which then I'm wrong so yeh :)
@elsunn Thanks!
@gogogogoguck You are wrong. There's also a barrel roll.
Did you ever g-lock? black out ect?
@yggseleaf well I wouldn't really call it a joke but Ailerons make the aircraft bank and if held long enough make the aircraft do a roll. Elevators on the other hand make the aircraft decrease or increase in altitude by changing its pitch; then theres the rudder which changes the yaw rudders are hard to explain so yeh if you don't know what yaw is google that shit. awsome vid, watched the full length one too, say you wouldnt happen to fly Falcon 4 bms? If you do come join us! Btw Finger eleven was a nice touch :)
Thanks for watching! I've never played Falcon 4 BMS... I normally just mess around on Google Earth (I've done the take off and landing from Luke AFB numerous times for fun). But, Falcon 4 looks awesome - is the cockpit view pretty realistic?
as far as combat sims go, its the most realistic! The cockpit is interactive and pretty much everything works.
what is an incentive flight?
how did you get this flight?
My bird was 280
Rgr that!
