great compilation , great narration and editing , the transitions are on point, loving the east west vocabulary and skills nicely done, you just got another subs .looking forward for the next one and lots of videos to see. ! def adding some locations like the yoyo store m, the epic thrift store, the gyoza place.
Went to Koenji for the first time a few weeks back. Place is so cool! Wish I'd spent more time there! If you head that way. So glad you checked out Monsta Sweets! That's my old classmates shop! :) :)
I’ve watched this channel on and off since 2017 and this is this channel’s best video in years. Patricia is infinitely more pleasant to listen to. She sounds like she’s capable of conveying information to the audience in a fun natural way while also coming off much more professional in comparison to other hosts. It feels like I’m listening to an actual person and not just a monotoned robot reading off of a script like nearly every video on Tokyo Cheapo. I was beginning to write this channel off as dated and stuck in it’s 2010s style of videos about japan. I hope this video helps grow the channel.
she's a fantastic speaker. she comes across as very natural, almost as if she's having a 1-1 convo with her listener. even if she's following a rough script, you can't tell at all.
@@spicy_xinger I truly believe the research and information Tokyo Cheapo does is amazing for people wanting to travel to japan. The website they work on is one of the best. On the other hand, their videos can be hard to watch. The editing is very dated and doesn’t flow as nicely as other channels with comparable teams working on videos (Japan by Food). I feel like I’m watching a watch mojo video and make it 30 seconds in before I click off. Channels like Tokyo Keychan achieve more with a lot less. I don’t intend to be mean, I don’t know if Cheapo get any comments giving them feedback about videos, maybe their audience is different to other channels and this works for them?
Their website is great. The content in their videos is very informative and helpful…but some hosts just make it hard to keep watching with the way it’s presented and edited sometimes. I feel like I’m watching an old style watch mojo video so I make it 30 seconds into a video before I click off. It’s not lacking enthusiasm or energy, it’s just unnatural sounding. The way they present their videos isn’t usually as natural as this one. Like a friend/guide showing you around Tokyo. I don’t intend to be mean, I just want their channel to grow because I truly believe the research and information Tokyo Cheapo does is amazing for people wanting to travel to japan.
Wow, Patricia is SO relatable and comfortable with the camera that you actually feel she is talking to you! Very impressive poise and command of the subject matter. If she wants a job in media, this is a great addition to her sizzle reel!
I've been skipping TC's videos coz of the hosts. But you nailed it this time, TC! Patricia is the best host you've featured so far! Make her a regular host.
Omg! I literally was just in Koenji today trying out the Laos restaurant there cause I missed Lao food and we walked by all of this. I thought it was such a quiet place but had so many shops. I plan on going back to check it out with my husband again since we are staying here for a whole month! Also your videos are amazing! This popped up on my front page as I sat down to unwind at the hotel.
Thank you for the Koenji introduction! I can't believe I missed it, but Tokyo is Huge! Next time ... (Oh yeah, my favorite spot would be the hidden backyard courtyard, just chillin' ... )
I love that clothes are being sold almost for free rather than ending in landfill which is unfortunately the case for a lot of clothes in Australia because people can't be bothered to donate them.
@@Randomluck I didn’t mean to offend anyone with my comment. I love their website and helpful tips. But their videos are very dated, like they haven’t changed over the past 4-7 years like other channels have.
Great video and lovely new host. The other hosts are fantastic as well, even though a couple of the commenters may have thoughts contrary to that opinion! I've watched this channel for a couple of years now and it has become my favourite for Tokyo information, and Aimee, Yuta, Cassandra and Alex have starred in a plethora of my most watched videos. They all have different presenting styles sure, but I've never found any of them to sound robotic or as if they were reading off a script. They all seem like they enjoy themselves and have fun while making the videos. This is still one of the best Tokyo focused channels around, and part of that is the hosts and the work they (and the crew) put in to it.
Things to be aware of when visiting Koenji (From a local!) The Chuo rapid/express (the orange line) stops at Koenji on weekdays only. Weekends, it doesn't stop! The Chuo local line will stop every day (the yellow line) It's a very easy station to meet friends at, as there's only one exit! Enjoy Koenji!
Patricia is solid!! I hope she hosts more often. I've always enjoyed the content of this channel but I have found some of the pieces to be a bit jarring or unnatural. Patricia makes the video feel more approachable and open. For content related to location recommendations I think Patricia would be great. I think the other hosts have been awesome but Patricia/Yuta definitely shine on the location/restaurant vids. Love Aimee and Greg when it comes to more travel tips, survival guides, rules, etc... Either way keep it up!!
I totally forgot about you Tokyo Cheapo!!! 😢 Not because I dont like the videos, but we tried to avoid Tokyo on our latest & future visits to Japan. Bring back Japan Cheapo please? 😊🙏
Ok as someone who has visited tokyo before and wasn't having stomach issues then but now does. What's the best way to know where restrooms are near you? I'm planning on going again next year but my stomach issues are making me nervous!
Definitely a better video than I'm used to on this channel, tbh. I like the new style and host, as well as the focus on lesser known neighborhoods. More like this on West and East Tokyo, away from the central areas.
me and a friend stayed in that area for 3 nights . it was a relaxing area , we had fun , she enjoyed the stores in the area . i forgot the name of the hotel we stayed at . Junjo Hotel ? . weird lil story . my friend was doing her laundry , washing em , and put em in the dryer . she went to go get her laundry about 90 mins later .and she noticed something when she came back to the room , 2 of her panties were missing 😮
Nice video thank you. But since my son study in Osaka, can you make video thrifting in Osaka/Kyoto. Because most people make video about Tokyo thrift not Osaka / Kyoto. Thrift sore for camera, shoes or jacket/clothes etc...thank you soo much!! Oh yes local food not that where tourist go to. Thank youuuu
Unsubscribed two weeks ago....then saw this. Patricia!! PLEASE, PLEASE tell me that she'll be presenting! She's so much more natural than all the other presenters. Sorry!
This reminds me of a website I used way back call Like A Local. People would post their reviews and hot spots. Seems like some company is hiring people, who know thier stuff, to make higher quality videos. This was my first interaction with the channel, so sorry for the assumptions.

Glad you liked it! Looking forward to showing you more of Japan
Hope you guys enjoy this spot, Koenji, that holds a special place in my heart 😊
Nice to see you hosting!
wow, I keep finding you @whatthepato! Hope Shun doesn't think I'm doing it on purpose. I just got your Insider's Guide to Tokyo! Very helpful!
This video gives a relaxed vibe. Well done, Patricia and the production team.
Glad you enjoyed it!
the collab we didn't deserve but appreciate
Wow, I love her energy and she's very articulate! She's a great host!
I loved Koenji when I stayed there a few years ago. I'll definitely be staying there again when I return.
I love Koenji. Love the vibe. It was the first place I had Sushi when I first visited Tokyo. Great memories. I'll be back!

Thank you - glad you enjoyed :)

Agreed. Patricia is your best host so far. Very attractive and intelligent and interesting to listen to. More videos with her please 🙏

my absolute favorite neighborhood in all of Tokyo!

Is she Canadian? I heard a slight accent.
she is a famous in youtube shorts about Japan. her youtube channel is Patricia O'Connor or used to call whatthepato
She’s my favorite Japan UA-camr.

Awesome job Patricia!!
You had me at "Free Gyoza".
Also holds Koenjifes in October with lots of live music venues, pro wrestling and a curry battle between local cafes/restaurants.
I lived in Tokyo and have never been. Will definitely include it in the itinerary for next year!

Patricia love the smile
I like the thrift shops....let's support local small businesses whenever we travel...not just in Japan but to any country we go to
More Patricia please!
I will not stand for this Yuta and Aimee slander in the comments. 😢 Always enjoy your vids TC!

@shwifty766 no offense taken. Just a bit of fun. 🙂 I'm a bit dated myself, so not something I would notice personally.

yup! That's my old classmate Gregario! He's been in Japan since sometime at least before 2010 (which was when I was in school with him)

Every train station and shopping centre will have restrooms. Google maps should show outdoor public restrooms.
