    Big shout out to Eric. I've been using this drill for 2 weeks now and it really transformed my ball striking. This gives me exactly the feel I was looking for and it translates into the game on the course.

    Eric, this helped me a ton today at the range. I have been working on not being so steep forever and this was the first tip that actually helped in an appreciable way. I actually hit several draws for the first time in forever. Would love to connect for a lesson when you are in Bethlehem again!

    A little alternative to 10/4 o’clock drill. Cool. Ty. Brought my handicap down 4 strokes to 15 last two months. New goal is 12 before end of year. Great ball striking drills for me.

    Obviously later than everyone on this, but since I started playing golf a year ago I’ve had constant trouble with slicing and/or pushing my irons. This video helped me learn a new drill and a few slow motion videos showed my grip was too weak also.
    Thanks for the content!

    Barely swings an 8 iron and it goes 130 to 140 yards, nice! I used to hit mine 160 but then lost my swing. So far your drills are starting to get me solid contact more often and no slices! Seriously, even my bad shots are pushes, but no slice!

    Late to this: great drill. A few issues: I hit it straight right a lot. Sometimes straight and it feels great. The other issue is when I try to translate to regular swing I just top all of the balls. Maybe I just use this for my normal swing lol

      @@CogornoGolf sorry my question wasn’t clear!
      Is there a way to match this feeling in a normal swing? It doesn’t seem to translate when I stop setting the club back and wide.
      And the other question is if the ball goes straight right a lot of times is that because I’m not turning enough?

    Will try this Eric!
    I do want to ask, I am definitely steep into my downswing. For the most part, I play with a 5y fade. I very rarely miss left and I've eliminated that side of golf. I do want to correct my too steep downswing - but I wanted to ask if it is OK to play this way? Are there professionals who play with a steep downswing?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  4 роки тому

      It is 100% OKAY to play with a steep downswing...you could be a hall of fame. Phil Mickelson's mechanics by most of our models are TERRIBLE......he's one of the best ever.
      If you have that control over the ball, why change? Shallowing it out DOESNT 100% guarantee better golf.

    Does it follow that if one is hitting a draw, that means their AoA is not too steep?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  7 місяців тому

      Generally speaking yes the more draw bias the more shallow the angle of attack as the swing direction would be more to the right

  • @cadencook4023

    How do u translate this to a full swing though

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 роки тому

      Need to hone in on the FEEL you get with it then exaggerate more with longer/faster swings

  • @ericmccue1607
    @ericmccue1607 4 роки тому +1

    So I can do this drill perfectly. Dead straight or slight draw. Over and over.
    But I can’t translate the drill into my full swing (clearly my fault). Drill perfect, full swing just poor. Thoughts?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  4 роки тому

      Hey Eric!
      Yes...add this one into your regular routine and this will translate better as you gradually add length and speed.
      I generally would combine both of these todays for my students

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  5 років тому +1

      Let it naturally hinge a little from there as you go back....the moral of the story here is to learn what to do at the bottom...you still will have to watch the hinge amounts in other areas...
      I would have to see you swing to say for sure...

    Naturally I couldn't resist trying this drill. The result: my backswing feels noticeable more centered. I don't know why. Perhaps because my hands and arms initiate the backswing while my upper body stays quiet? I have a tendency to sway on the backswing. I only hit whiffle balls, but the swing feels really feels centered, balanced and powerful.
