At about 3:40 my heart starts to cry. My mum loved this part the most. And for me it's a symbol for her. Especcially after she died. Ty Lyndon and the poster to of course
Lyndon Baglin has been one of my favorite euphoniumists in the world, ever since I first heard him play. Wonderful style and sound, and a clever use of alternate fingerings in this video!
David Werden I totally agree, his sound is extremely unique, he was able to play with such a tender and soft sound while still maintaining the bounce in the articulation of the notes in the faster sections. Additionally I find that he is one he few European euphonium players that I’ve listened to that use a variation of vibrato rather than just strictly fast or slow. Finally, his triple tonguing is absolutely amazing. I had to listen to the video 3 times to be sure that he indeed was articulating every note in the end section. An absolute delight to listen to!
Perhaps not as the virtuoso guys from today, but with style, nice and warmth sounds, exactly which a Euphonium should sound. Never ever heard Rule Britannia that great.
Congratulations to the Cory Band on 3rd place at the British Open Brass Band Championships (Symphony Hall, Birmingham) today. I was pleased to be there and hear some great music, thanks.
I new Lyndon from some of the bands in the Forest of Dean and I would have a chat with him in Tescos in Chepstow. A brilliant euphonium player. And Surely missed .
Impressionante,maravilhosa apresentação do solista de Euphonium e toda a Orquestra,equilíbrio acústico,dinâmica e total sensibilidade artistica!!! Paulo - Campinas-SP-Brazil
Really nice guy and great player. Met him twice in my younger days. But as I went on to study music and interpretation full time, I still come across players of all instruments who, dont promote the motive in the variations. Came across 3 who interpreted well, Jim Shepherd, Dougie Bird, Phill McCann. Maybe I'm just old now.. lol
It's a lot easer to move your middle and ring fingers together than individually because of the way the tendons are arranged. Maybe he finds it easier to made defined moves on the second valve when using both fingers
The first thing my teacher would say to him is "you're moving around too much". And my teacher would be wrong. That's all he said to me after recitals. It's annoying when that's all your teacher has to say about your playing.
Salmo 131 verso 13 e 14. Si il signore ha scelto sion l ha voluta per sua residenza , 14 questo sarà il luogo del mio riposo per sempre , qui risiedero perché l ho voluto
Oh, I'm not saying that Lydon is wrong, nor Mead nor Thornton -- I'm saying my teacher would be wrong for saying that you shouldn't move when you play.
That is just simply not true. They all stand on the shoulders of Lyndon, Trevor and the rest from that era, but can you honestly say, that David Childs, David Thornton, Glyn Williams, Chris Robertson and Daniel Thomas has the noise of a german barytone?? They fill the biggest halls in the world with beauty!
Not bad. He was using every trick finger possible in the introduction though! He played with our band for the regionals this year and split most of the notes :( Still a good player though.
Gareth Coulson. What are you talking about? This man is a legend and for 60 years has been looked upon as one of the greats! So he had an off day? Have you never had one?
Great soloist, but unfortunately unaffectedly with the theme. It’s like me that played the Radezky march for Celtic harp and violin. We played all the notes, but it wasn’t the meaning and spirit of the composer. With age and experience I’ve learned not to want to change, only to show off or commercial reasons, what is already musically perfect.

Accomplished Euphonium player, with a Magnificent Band. This is at its best.
Perhaps not as the virtuoso guys from today, but with style, nice and warmth sounds, exactly which a Euphonium should sound. Never ever heard Rule Britannia that great.
Smooth as silk & no swinging the instrument all over the place. Respect!
In days when Euphonium players did what was required as the name indicates "Euphonium" from euphoric as in Sweet Sounding!
Lyndon is ballin so hard with that Patek Phillipe ring!!
Congratulations to the Cory Band on 3rd place at the British Open Brass Band Championships (Symphony Hall, Birmingham) today. I was pleased to be there and hear some great music, thanks.
Brilliant toned and technique. I so enjoy listening to
Excellent, emotion until crying!
I new Lyndon from some of the bands in the Forest of Dean and I would have a chat with him in Tescos in Chepstow. A brilliant euphonium player. And Surely missed .
Great playing, chilling. Rule Britannia!
absolutely fantastic as always

Wow this guy is awesome he has a great sound and amazing technique
Brilliant playing as always ! well done !!
so beautiful
This is amazing.
Fantastic, very good!
the master - not to be bettered, so consistent
I wish I could play that well
Beautiful sound. I've got his recordings on a record, never bettered in my opinion
Brilliant
The ring on the bell looks to me like an anchor point for a shoulder harness
That was really nice.

i love your sound !
It's an adjustable receiver that closes the gap around the mouthpiece; it changes the 'color' of the tone
Expertly conducted by Brian Howard!
Epic euphonium solo at the start.
Superb!
Thanks for vid. again. If you have more, please post it.
awesome!
well a few slips but what a professional player with such a good sounds
Mamma mia che mostroooo xD grandeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Bravo!
wow!!!
Yes it is Brian Howard and it was 1989 I think. I was on the opposite chair to Lyndon :)
For such a great player, its interesting to see him using both his middle and ring fingers to depress his second valve at some points.
HiDefAmp Yeah I noticed that too. Any ideas why he's doing that ? Or is it just his personal preference ?
It's a lot easer to move your middle and ring fingers together than individually because of the way the tendons are arranged. Maybe he finds it easier to made defined moves on the second valve when using both fingers
With dexterity like that, who cares?
Quite good
imagine when he was in his prime.
@aledcacen I think that it might be a lyre box...
Is's a besson sovereign .looks like a 967 . dunno what the thing on the bell under the mouthpipe is???
The first thing my teacher would say to him is "you're moving around too much". And my teacher would be wrong.
That's all he said to me after recitals. It's annoying when that's all your teacher has to say about your playing.
@aledcacen i know on the lead pipe is reads "BESSON"
How can one remember all that ???
any idea what model euph he uses here?
Ahh ok! I agree with you, then!
where can I get the sheet music for this
There's a UA-cam video with the sheet music
@aledcacen looks like another hook for a lyre
the master - not to be bettered, so consistant
Good luck :D:D
And which recording is that.....?
isnt it richard evans conducting???
Salmo 131 verso 13 e 14. Si il signore ha scelto sion l ha voluta per sua residenza , 14 questo sarà il luogo del mio riposo per sempre , qui risiedero perché l ho voluto
Foden's won the British Open Brass Band Championships and Grimethorpe Colliery came second.
@aledcacen looks to me like a lyre holder
@ianspc no proof no case bud! :)
think its brian howard conducting late 80's early 90's ???
A bike rack.
Oh, I'm not saying that Lydon is wrong, nor Mead nor Thornton -- I'm saying my teacher would be wrong for saying that you shouldn't move when you play.

get lost you weirdo
Correct Allan . Todays Euphonium players are all (most of them ) non Euphonium players . their sounds are like baritons players from Germany
That is just simply not true. They all stand on the shoulders of Lyndon, Trevor and the rest from that era, but can you honestly say, that David Childs, David Thornton, Glyn Williams, Chris Robertson and Daniel Thomas has the noise of a german barytone?? Haha he kind of looks like a muppet! If muppets could play like that, what a world it would be...!!
Oh by the way, he is an Amateur
Not bad. He was using every trick finger possible in the introduction though! He played with our band for the regionals this year and split most of the notes :( Still a good player though.

Well played.....but what a load of old fashioned tosh'

That baton is STUPID!!!! Why on earth do you need such a long baton for a 25 piece brass band!haha!
give me a break i have seen better
