Love your videos mate. refreshing seeing a genuine bloke having a crack and not a 30min ad like most of the other 4wd channels. also your mates front end is what im aiming for
10:05 probably easier to drill the hole to the case first! After that place the thing behind in place and drill the holes into that. This way you make sure the thing is not moving BEFORE the casing holes are done.
Yeah probably, I dunno I’ve done about 7-8 now and haven’t had an issue though I think either way if you have clamped it well it won’t move, and if it’s going to it will 👍🏻
Grouse vid !! Wouldn’t happen to know that colour code or where i could get a can of it !! Half way through rebuilding my winch , that colour looks mint
Hey Timmy awesome video as always mate. I was just wondering if you could do a comparison video between the 8274 vs red cobra I'm about to pull the trigger but I can't find enough in depth videos on the cobra with pros and cons and if its worth the extra few grand. Cheers mate 🤙
Personally I prefer the Warn 8274 over a Cobra, a Cobra is pretty close to a low mount winch, so if you want to get into the high mount game, I like 8274’s but if you like the red winches I’d go all the way to a hornet 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Cheers mate!! Na it’s imperfections in the casting they all have it it’s super weird, I think it’s where the oxidised layer of the aluminium set before the metal under it so it’s almost like they have paint flakes on them. 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Great question mate, so the last one I built on this channel, we used all stock gears and a warn 6hp, that is on 12v with 2x 900cca batteries in parallel and it goes pretty well for 12v. As long as you have the right motor and gearing, good cables and connections, and a good choice of motor they’re still a great winch on 12v, I’d certainly have any high mount on 12v over any low mount but 24v really does pump the life into them and gets a whole lot of potential out of them with 0 downsides 👍🏻👍🏻
I know what im doing next time if i ever get one of these getting your address and paying you haha. Great job at doing this didn't need to rush or anything. What ever happened to that comp or the give away buddy
Timmys winch rebuilds, good watch with plenty of good info! Came up near brand new.
Yeah boi, 8274 factory 🫡 😅
I finally got to watch this and it didn’t disappoint. That’s how you do a build video. Thanks mate.
Haha awesome mate glad to hear 🙏🏻🙏🏻

allbright solenoid is a massive upgrade over the crap standard warn solenoid box, saves space and more waterproof
Yeah boi, that’s why I use them 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻 they’re not super waterproof but they can be if you seal em up 👍🏻
I'll never do this but great content. Well done.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Great build mate. Looks the goods.
Cheers dude thanks for watching 🔥🔥
Use your copper hammer or a brass drift and hammer for this stuff. Won't damage the surfaces
100% don’t copy me, use a brass or copper hammer haha, mines in my parts tools. 🫡
Great watch!
Cheers mate!!
Super interesting, great presentation 👍👏
Thanks heaps mate appreciate you checking them out all the time 🤙🏻🤙🏻
@@timmyhasheartI sent it on to a few mates with High Mounts too 👍

a shallow death of field can also be counter productive, like in this case.
I love it, think it looks sick tbh 😂
Good video mate with heaps of info👌
Thanks heaps mate 🫡🫡
Great content as always
Cheers mate 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Yeah she’s slowly climbing mate appreciate it! 🔥🔥🔥
Np mate keep it up
Great video mate love these build episodes! Question? At 13:58 is that a crack in the housing? Hopefully its superficial!
Cheers mate!! Na it’s imperfections in the casting they all have it it’s super weird, I think it’s where the oxidised layer of the aluminium set before the metal under it so it’s almost like they have paint flakes on them. 🤙🏻🤙🏻
How do you know all this shit Timmy! Freaking awesome to watch.
Built a few of them now dude haha, you should sort yourself one!! 👊🏻
Bit of machinist work on this job. Very interesting to follow along. Was that your dog Tim?
Yeah mate!! Border collie 🔥🔥
@@timmyhasheart I believe that is his first appearance in one of your videos.
Froth this content mate. Keen to see you out on the tracks in the GU too
Yeah boy! Keen to be out there in it 👊🏻👊🏻
Hey Timmy, do you have to run these on 24V to get value out of them? How do they compare to low mounts if you use them on 12V?
Great question mate, so the last one I built on this channel, we used all stock gears and a warn 6hp, that is on 12v with 2x 900cca batteries in parallel and it goes pretty well for 12v. No winch related….what did you use to seal the concrete floor ??
Just like an industrial epoxy 🙏🏻🙏🏻
What gear oil are you using normally in these and how much? Just picked mine up the other day
Ahh I just use any kind of diff oil I have laying around mate, thicker the better.. anything for 90 to 140
How'd that old aluminum case weld?
Yeah it’s not the funnest to weld haha, this wasn’t as bad as the 30yo intake manifold I did on the GU. But yeah new aluminium is way nicer for sure 😅
I know what im doing next time if i ever get one of these getting your address and paying you haha. Great job at doing this didn't need to rush or anything.
What ever happened to that comp or the give away buddy
Add to the wall of free spools you reckon 😅😅 you’d be right with it just follow along with the video 🫡
Can new for under 3k in the states
Yeah even if you bought a new one though you need to rip it down and replace half of it for it to be reliable. 😂 plus $3000usd is $4500aud 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Hey mate, whats your day to day job? Trade background?
Na mate I actually am a baker by trade & currently work in computers 😅😅
@@timmyhasheart random as, but good to see you're practical and swing spanners with the best of them
I just realised I never subscribed till just now, whoops
Haha awesome mate thank you 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I paid $30 at the tip shop i hot lucky
That is super lucky nice one!
Sad you go through all the work to build a beauty winch, then gave to stick it behind recycled plastic grill. I know it’s the laws…but damn…
Haha still looks good in there 🫡🫡
me and the old man were just talking about these winches bloody internet is alway's listing
Hahaha facts mate, it’s unreal hey thanks for watching anyway 👊🏻👊🏻
