"You go to the other side of the universe to have a gun fight". Haha nice line Rog. I've got to give The Last Seduction a look based on this review. I *still* love S&E.
I watched Seduction last night based on this review and I was thoroughly underwhelmed. It wasn’t a bad movie but I don’t get what they were getting so excited about.
Yep. I also think probably the script should of been nominated for Best Original Screenplay and maybe Bes Score as well. Sadly, the whole "it was shown on cable TV first" got it disqualified. A real shame - as The Last Seduction still stands up as one of the most distinguished films of the 1990s.
Agree with Ebert about Wellville. It seemed the point of the movie was to show us a sliver of history rather then presenting a traditional character arc
Gene can't believe the budget of Stargate is 55 million dollars. It sounds tame by today's standards. The very next year, Waterworld had a budget of over a 100 million. Now, that's a lot Gene!! Also, Kill Me Again is John Dahl's first great film with Val Kilmer as a down and out PI. If you like Red Rock or Seduction, you'll like Kill Me Again.
Okay. I'll try and watch it. I love both Red Rock West and The Last Seduction. I did also think Joy Ride was quite good from John Dahl. It's a real shame that Dahl doesn't direct more films these days - it seems he is more interested in doing TV.
SILENT FALL was interesting to me because it was both an immediate failure that lasted maybe 9 days at the local AMC theatre at a time when that kind of run was a marker of disaster, but because it was an outlier for Warner Bros. during the 2nd half of 1994: the studio had a lot of R-rated films that were successful in that time period, including NATURAL BORN KILLERS, THE SPECIALIST, INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, and DISCLOSURE. SILENT FALL stood out along with TRIAL BY JURY as an R-rated film from the studio that everyone hated and flamed out in near-record time (COBB was a box office flop but got some good reviews for Tommy Lee Jones' performance).
I saw 'The road to Wellville' in the theaters. It's part of my 10 worst movies evah. 'Stargate' is one of my guilty pleasures. I know it's not perfect.

You keep putting them out, I'll keep liking and watching
A lot of them are the same ones they’ve put out before lol
The Last Seduction should’ve been an Oscar winner
It was disqualified because it was shown on HBO before being released in theaters. I have said it a thousand times, Oscars are a joke.

R.I.P. J.T. Walsh.

Kill Me Again was a decent Noir but I think Rock West and Seduction were superior.

$55 million in the 1990s was the equivalent of $110 million in the 2020s.

I doubt he directs TV because he's interested in the medium. I think it's simply a matter of paying the bills.

I'm with Gene on The Road to Wellville. I saw it in the theater and it's a giant turkey.

i didn't know the actor who played the Riddler in the 60s Batman series is in a film about solving a murder with an aid of an autistic child.
Roger should have said Rich Little, not Frank Gorshin. Gorshin was better at imitating physical mannerisms. His James Cagney act had me dying!
Save your time on Seduction, Wellville, and Silent Fall; those are awful.
I have seen The Last Seduction and it was far from awful.
@@ricardocantoral7672 Well, the others were. Really.
