Part of Mr.Krustev's biography, which is always ommitted from interviews with him, is that he comes from a privileged family of high-ranking Communist officials, who were at the helm of the erstwhile Bulgarian Communist Party (BKP). His father, Yoto Krustev, was a member of the Central Comittee of the Bulgarian Communist Party, while his son, Ivan Krustev, has made a very successful career nowadays preaching political values to the world. Well done!

Уеs, it's very important to know who's talking. Especially about people like Krustev. Many sons and daughters of the former priviliged comunist families became great experts in capitalist economy and political engineering. His father was responsible for the comunist propganda. He enjoyed an education that only few were allowed to get 40 years ago.

So what? Smells like character assassination and "Sippenhaft", liability of all the members of a family for the crimes of one member. Very popular in Nazi Germany. Contents matter, not family member.

And what is he supposed to do? Is it his fault and should he have not taken advantage of his luck and not gotten educated and progressed as a person? What is the point you are trying to make? There's tons of sons and daughters of such shady people, but how many of them actually have the brains and motivation to become something better? Aren't we supposed to judge someone on his actions, decisions and character, and not on who is his father?

He could be as intelligent as he wants, but people should know who is talking so that they decide to trust him or not. He's talking about democracy as his father did about the comunist party. Being consistent is mandatory especially for people with such a wide impact provided by the official media. We have the right to know the background of the ones who claim to explain the world to us. And yes it matters a lot in what family one is born and what example his parents gave.

One can see the intellectual depth of Ivan Krastev. He has his feet on the ground. What is the future pf Europe? “It is in a difficult moment.” How Ivan conclude his interview? Don’t worry, be happy who we are.

Don’t drink coffee. Don’t drink wine. Don’t drink alcohol. And then think. After two years. Of waiting for all addiction to leave.

Well, that was a series of platitudes to satisfy the interviewers. And why the Bulgarian population shrinks and the elite can form no government? It surely must be boredom.
