I tested mine and it was good. Put it back in the box to keep it clean. I used it a few times yesterday and it ran great. Then the last time I used it yesterday it was hard to start. This morning hard to start. This afternoon and now it will not, just the blue flame. Yes it is super cold, and I sure need this thing to work today. Glad you got yours back on!
Yes Thank you Iit saved me as well..My heater works like new again. As my only heat 🔥 can't thank you enough. Ill be Regular cleaning and filter changes !! Tool box tricks ty
I love early mornings to watch the sunrise! This little thing has a great heat output ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxAvrAfikbUEMthp3AZ6iX5FKdiHfzy_RP . I sit in my rocker, warm, and watch the sunrise! It's great for travel as well. Just stow and go. Love this thing! For hunters, I've heard that they also make a little hood so that it focuses the heat a bit more if you have to sit further away. Just a heads up. It's so easy and quick to set up and get going.
Thank you Eric 😊 I'm recently divorced and in a tiny home alone! You made fixing my buddy heater so easy and understandable!!! Yay I have heat and I'm warming up!
THANK YOU! I ran into the same problem last Saturday. I've been mulling over buying a new one because it worked so well in the past. Then I thought, "I wonder if there's anything on UA-cam?" Of course there was! 🤣
Dude I was out first day of rifle season in New York it was very very cold, my big buddy heater wouldn’t light just like you showed , Are used some hand sanitizer spray and a paper towel in thin strips cleaned it out, and lit up right away it worked great it was such a great thing you shared I ended up getting a deer this morning thank you again
Thank you so much. Omg I didn’t even think about that! Was going crazy because I just upgraded to a 20lb tank and I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. You saved me from losing my mind
Discovered this fix on mine years a ago. Now, before heating season I clean the exterior on mine and swab out that orifice as routine maintenance. Great little heaters.....
Thank you. I am homeless and when I got my heater I got insurance for it but did not register with a phone number. I have no idea where I stashed the receipt and thought I was screwed until now. Thank you again and greetings from the Pacific Northwest.
You didn’t fix the problem, but you gave me a clue, I had a yellow flame. Sometimes it would be blue sometimes yellow. I realize if I tilt a little bit to the right it will turn blue for a while. Turns out it was the tilt switch was stuck or unseated. I didn’t take it apart for tapping it a few times on the left side seem to settle it and since it’s been settled, it’s worked fine.
Guys, the yellow flame occurs due to oil in the gas container which accumulating in the burner… First it starts whistling cause oil starts to cook and making bubbles then yellow flames comes when oil starts to vaporize and burn with the gas. Sorry for my poor english. Alc won’t fix it. Cheers from Germany
Worked for me , for a second time. Careful about the cotton swab. Make sure it is on tight. Mine came off two inches down. I took a paperclip, straightened it out and bent a very small section on the end to retrieve the cotton. Flame is now strong enough to once again touch the thermal coupler to allow the heater to work properly.
Exactly what I needed. I could get the pilot but couldn’t get it to stay lit. I could see the flame wasn’t reaching the thermocouple so it was no mystery why it wouldn’t stay lit but how to make it reach was the conundrum. We are expecting a hard freeze for a week and this was to keep the plants alive in case of a power outage. Wish I’d seen this before I went scurrying off to buy one of the few generators left on the shelves. I didn’t have a Q-tip or alcohol so I shot contact cleaner down the orifice👍. As soon as I lit the pilot I knew it would work. Thanks
Works!!! Almost no visible difference from the flame before and the flame after. Did this with just the q-tip and no rubbing alcohol. Was trying to light it for 20 minutes. Shove the q-tip in it and now it fires up.
To PREVENT this from happening,You MUST use 1 of 3 methods to hook up to a 20lb tank (or larger)...1-use a filter on the hose 2- use a regulator at the tank 3-use a Mr Heater #273704 hose (specifically designed to NOT leach oils because of the high pressure from tank to heater regulator)... any one of these methods will prevent 99% of ignition problems...👍
According to Mr Heater site due to the heater having a regulator on the heater, the addition of a regulator at the 20# tank "will result in over-regulating the gas supply". If you're making this work "rock on" but the manufacturer says different.
They were toasty warm all night. I have two other heaters out of my twelve heaters consistently shutting down at 5-6am despite good ventilation and easy startup. Oxygen sensor is probably too sensitive, and on freeze nights I do two-hour shifts to relight. What do you think of tilting the heater slightly up on one side to keep the flame tilted to the sensor to keep it from shutting off when flame gets weak? Is there a safety hazard in doing so? Thanks.@@projectdiy873
Baby sitting a dog and two cats, they have a buddy heater to keep their companions warm while gone for a week. The Buddy heater will not stay on and we are high up in the mountains. Thought I take mine to them. You solved my problem, Thank you so much ❤
Can't believe this worked, but it did. I had some water drip on the pilot light, screwed up the heater and I didn't think an alcohol swab would fix it, but it did.
Yes not sure what happened on the last upload but obviously didnt have the full video. Thank you for watching. That is my wife's doing on the decorating.
Well it worked but some of the q tip got stuck my dear wife said I see it in this hole I'm like get away it's just venting holes you are not mechanicaly inclined boy was I wrong it was a breather hole for the air mixture and I saw the cotten used very small tweezers and got it out I suggest just have torch orfus wire cleaner they come in different sizes but thanks it works now thanks a bunch
Watched another video and he just shut down the 20# tank. Then he hit the ignition a few times to make sure no more gas is coming through. Then he barely cracked the 20# open and started the heater. Then after a few minutes, opened the 20# fully. That fixed the problem . So if your solution doesn’t work, try this solution. I t worked great for mine:)
Always try the other SIDE of the heater. Should be obvious but if you don't have time to take it apart connect your tank to the opposite side it should work just fine especially if you are connecting this to a 20 pound tank. Then later clean out the other side. Blowing the pilot line is always good too. But even if you don't have the pilot working try the other side.
Side note, this didnt fix the problem but what did was on my mr.buddy “tough buddy” there was a air bubble in the connector where your hose goes to on the heater. After I pressed it and let it out it worked great!
Those tech support at Mr. heater does not know about this fix. The tech lady tell me to use air compressor blow the gas outlet, didn't fix the issues. After this video it fixed the problem.
Its strange this is such a common problem with a heater that is designed to produce heat, which is obviously only needed when its cold.
