It’s called a plantain. it’s similar to a banana you pick them when they’re fully grown in size but bright green in color. Usually larger than an American banana. First you cook them. Then smash them flat and fry them lightly they are very delicious. When prepared like that they are called tostones.
I'm going to the center in May for my school placement and it looks amazing! Watching these videos are making me more excited!

This was pure L O V E ! I have been traveling on/off for the last 2 years and now I am considering going to Costa Rica. Where is this place located? How did you find it? Are you working in exchange of food+accomodation, or did you pay some fees in order to be able to volunteer at the place? I have worked with abused parrots myself, and this place really caught my interest!
