Personally I’ve wouldn’t of helped them. I have an ex in the Philipinnes. Keep in mind family stick together and they probably found out you’re getting donations and they want a piece of the action. Leave them alone before you get hurt or set up
If you can't trust them after being that kind to them, I'd say be very careful once you confront them because you could end up dead. There's a different mindset over there when Filipinos are confronted about doing something crooked and even more so if by a foreigner. I'd personally put a lot of distance between me and those people, but those are decisions you have to make for yourself. Good luck.
I bought bikes for some of my girlfriends family members, her daughter and younger sister, they acted shit that they were Japanese surplus bikes and not brand new Chinese mtn bikes. Ungrateful as Hell and thats the last I ever spent a peso on any of them, they dont speak to me but I dont care.
You're right "beggars can't be choosers" I had a similar incident with a Thai girl I dated a while back (I live in Thailand will move to Phils) who wanted a laptop, didn't know how to use a computer and wanted to start an online Biz. I told her I'll buy a used excellent condition laptop, she scoffed at the idea and wanted a new $600 laptop, I told her to buy her own so that she will get what she wanted. End if discussion, she didn't buy one...Oooops too bad!
I respect this channel so much.. Love the honesty from him, any content that his channel puts out i watch them, aswell as let the video ad's run fully through. Believe it or not it makes a huge difference for this channel.. Please keep this channel authentic and raw like you have been and i see great success in your movement..
Just remember this Calvin...no good deed goes unnoticed and no bad deed goes unpunished. You are a good man with a big heart. That your generosity and trust was used against you is sad but the forgiveness you granted them is pure gold. In the end, those four will pay a higher price in the long run. Keep doing your good deeds and stay strong brother.
The problem is hiring family. Every scrap of material that you brought into the family home automatically becomes the whole family's property to dispose of as any of them see fit. I don't have the charity endorphins that most people do. I don't get the buzz from helping people. Only mutually beneficial relationships for me.
I'm the same. I looooove for the other party to have great benefits from having business interactions with me, but helping strangers, not so much, especially as others butt in like extended family. I'll do it when I really know the situation, but I don't want surprises like this.
Don’t be hurt or embarrassed....they showed their heart....we all see yours. It’s ok to think about it for a day or 2, learn from it. Then put it behind and move on. Finished what you promised that baby, and move on. Don’t stop with her, find another
Huge respect to you Calvin. It's hard not to take this betrayal personally. Vengeance was my first thought. But it would also hurt the children that are innocent. Understanding what poverty does to some people is very wise and you put their actions in the right context. Thank you for sharing this experience.
Whats sad is that baby Denise is caught in the middle, Ive been scammed in similar fashion Calvin, learned my lesson. You are a better man than them, love u brother!!!
Sorry to hear about that Calvin.😞 The same kinds of things happened to me since the moment I moved here, from my Filipinas father, mother, brother and sister. They found ways to have people overcharge me and my filipina in everything from the dentist to cars for hire ect... so they could get money on the back end. Also when I hired workers, I fed and paid them daily, but when the job was done they disappeared with all the supplies, tools and extra materials that I bought. I see this behavior so often here. I was also beside myself. I have lost all faith in the common good here.
@The Lone Stranger Those work for some minutes after that they GET POUROUS....There is also gel anti infective....there is a QUICK swab test (U will need to do it EACH time) on the spot RESULTS & 1 pretty sure way is ask them if they REGULARLY R "VOLUNTEER BLOOD DONORS" ... ask to see their card & when LAST TIME they gave & donated blood...
Most Filipinos I have tried to help find more reasons to ask for money until they cross the line to becoming a scammer. Now, I only help my girlfriend and her immediate family, and only a few other Filipino friends.
You think they only do this to foreigners? They do it to everyone family included. I know many nurses who make well over 150k annually who lives in poverty here in America. They send everything back for family.
Remember the universal rule, WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND. Or the biblical saying, "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE UNTO YOU". Their act of theft and deception has no bearing on your act of kindness and generosity. Continue the mission of Sunshine 🌞 shoulders and keep bringing Sunshine 🌞 into people's lives.
Exactly 💯, come on now. I would not even say it is about being better, just common sense. She played him. The whole family did. She definitely was in on it. Channels like this have helped me to save time AND MONEY 💰. They have been a great asset to many. For, him not to use his own advice... SMH 🤦🤦🤦
@@wjm1050 Right ✅ I was like "What is THIS? " , when I saw Donna in the video. Like she was begging or trying to play up to the camera. As I look ar the other videos, I wonder after all this time why there is no floor yet.... of because Donna suggested concrete, huh... man, they played him! Why not wall to wall carpet, too! Look... some wood planks, a 20 Lbs. bag of rice 🍚, and some dried milk 🥛, and call it a day. A good filipina is one who has cut off her family, totally or to some extent. The family see every foreigner as a cash cow, there to deliver them. They become a bottomless pit of "emergencies" and birthdays 🎂🥳. Once, you start to give they will only want more. Almost the entire nation is POOR. As he would say... They are not "SPECIAL". You can't save them all. Money would be better spent on the homeless, as these people at least have a home. MEN: There are some great filipinas, the others👎👎👎 Do not be duped by a filipina's beauty... it's called "ISLAND DWARFISM 🏝" ... they all look like that.
😞 😞 What I respect about you Brother Calvin, is your transparency, integrity, rawness, and just plain honesty. It may have been difficult making that video but fair play to you. It was also a difficult watch for me. And that brief fleeting thought you had, if Donna might have known, did also knock me sideways a bit. It made me think back to the interview that you did with her and wondered if she was aware of what was happening then. 😞 However, this will not stop me donating to Sunshine Shoulders when I can as I believe fully in what you are doing. And those guys have lost out big time as they were gaining respect from the viewers/subscribers and would have been sought after for future work, as finding good honest workers is difficult over there. Plus I think it will sadly cost Donna as well as anyone that was interested in her would think twice by having those uncles involved in their lives. People want to rejuvenate over there and not having to be constantly wary of being scammed repeatedly. I do not care how harsh the system is over there, you raised them up from all living basically in the gutter, and human decency should always recognise an act of kindness and gratitude on that scale. I was touched by all the hard work and caring that you did. But you are right about letting them finish the job as they would have made trouble and be difficult if you got another team in. I learned that Pinoys hate losing face, and that would have been the case here. It has gotten so messy now and it hurts me to say this as I was excited seeing Baby Denise advance. Maybe just get the job finished and explain to Donna that things have irrevocably changed and adjust and review what help you give them after the works are done, if any. You yourself warned us in videos about how Pinoys hold grudges, and you are an unarmed foreigner in their country, so maybe keep things cool, watch your back, pay them at the end of the job and step away. Please protect the whistle-blower also from any retribution. Blessings and respects Brother. Jah Bless
@@calroach1 My pleasure Brother Cal and I firmly believe in what you are doing out there and 100% behind you. You have so much great work ahead of you and this was a good learning experience for us all. I am looking forward to what you do next. Blessings and good fortune to all of your family. Jah Bless
Contractors (many not all) do that all of the time, GLOBALLY. Order more materials than needed. To prevent that YOU need to buy and control the materials and negotiate for the price of labor ONLY.
But you have to allow for a certain percentage of scrap. To do a job . Yes sometimes people that are desperate might do things they would not normally do. But the pandemic may have been really to much of a strain . Have mercy on them brother Calvin. They did take advantage.
WOW..3 of them live in the same house with mother and baby? i hope she wasnt part of this scam. calvin just becareful and remember you are in the philippines.so dont do nothing crazy.
This is why I only take care of MY responsibilities. I know it sounds cruel, but if a person sits down and have children, it's up to the parents to take care of their children and themselves. I'm not into taking on other people's responsibility. It keeps them in the mode that they will be saved. God saves, I don't. If that man don't help his seed, I'm not either. This is the difference between red and blue pill. @Sunshine Shoulders Sir Calvin. You have taken the red pill, but want to go back to the blue pill matrix. Like you said, you can't forget reality and go back to sleep. I hope you keep your eyes open because those you help, and even your loved ones, can become agents. Don't want to see a good man brought down.
Calvin I love Filipino people and spending time in the Philippines. I've lived and manufactured in Taiwan for years and have had more visa runs to the Phil's since the 80s than I can begin to remember. What you just described with the construction fiasco and the pilfering is the reason I manufactured in Taiwan where it worked /works and will continue to work. I checked out manufacturing in the Phil's and after digging into it with other expats and Chinese Filipinos who do business there day in day out, I continued in Taiwan and also set up a factory in S. Africa instead. Most expats finally moved their business to Taiwan ..just got worn out, the constant stealing, hustles, endless stories, always something and as time goes on things snowball and it actually becomes dangerous. Of course you can do projects in the Phil's but when it comes to money, that's just how it is. It's very very different than Taiwan when it comes to money, just one island above Luzon but a different planet. Watch how Chinitos do business in the Phil's, keeping a distance, never buddy buddy, I cringe at the way they watch everything and everybody like a hawk in a way that would be culturally rude and unacceptable by western standards, yet they are respected, looked up to and make money. Doesn't mean I don't like or love it there.
Mate I hear you, we are in Vietnam and China for many years, we recently developed a new factory in Queretaro Mexico and year ago and the worst business decision we ever made! We hope moving it from Mexico to Chennai India will be better, lesson learned! This poor guy in the Philippines, he is great but I can tell the devil takes advantage of his kind heart
Jeanjeudi 1111.... My friend that is mind-blowing about the things you have seen in the Philippines since the 80's...The fiasco in construction of pilfering, stealing, hustling and things becoming dangerous...and the local guys watching you like hawks.... My friend..3 things are bound to happen and 2 of them are "BAD"..I can see why manufacturing companies wouldn't want to do business over there...And the Philippines needs jobs... That is so sad 😢
@@johnwales4214 hey John, when the US put anti dumping tariffs on our products we had a choice to shift to India or Mexico, a long story John but after 7 months of having the factory here we only started producing last week. The two orders will ship this week to the US, then its over. The red tape, socialist system, the lazy workers, the lack of care and quality was more than I could bare. The supply chain here is shocking or non existent, we have to get our fabrics and steel tubes from Vietnam, India or Tianjin as the price fixing here is rife! I have come to call suppliers here 'bandits' they act like you owe them something "Oh you should feel lucky we can supply you" albeit triple the cost. No John, all assets are being sold and by May we will be producing in Chennai. Its still sinking in that despite all the research, our supposed consultants didn't tell us about these issues. Tetakawi the shelter company wanted us to stay, yeah right, $8,500 per month to use their services, they wanted us to build a full blown surgery for their doctor, the kinds of things they were telling us we had to do added to my decision to get the hell out of Mexico and never return! I wish I had something positive to say, but apart from the scenery on the road to Jalpan, there isn't much else. What I do know is that Mexico is NOT business friendly
@@johnwales4214 you are wise, living in Asia for 10 years [China and Vietnam] I feel even these socialist states are safer. Myself and my Vietnamese wife will travel to the Philippines later this year and spend some time there to see if its for us regarding retirement. If so we would then find out if we are eligible as a British and Vietnamese couple to retire and build, then I am sure we would be happy too!
@@johnwales4214 That's unfortunate, I guess Tim K the blogger must be allowed to buy property because he is married to a Philippino, this is how I am allowed to buy in Vietnam; however like I said, Vietnam is communist and deeply corrupt, this poses a danger for foreign investment. My original idea was the Bahamas as I fly a light aircraft but very far from Asia where my heart is. i will talk to our lawyers who have colleagues in many parts of Asia and maybe the Philippines.
Pretty brave to be this open. Calvin learned a lesson and shared it - exactly the right thing to do. Again. I'm impressed again, thank you very much for sharing!
I was at Ft. Sam in Texas going through a school there many years ago. It was very early in the morning and we had a PT test that I just did not feel like doing. They had some wounded warriors out on the field. Guys with no legs or missing an arm. I felt ashamed that they were out there in the cold morning doing what they could do and I was complaining. I never forgot that lesson from God. Always be thankful for what you have in this life.
The same thing happened to me. I was at Walter Reed hospital a place where wounded soldiers go for rehab. They had a smoking area and I would smoke with guys with all kinds of injuries. I quit smoking and gave God the credit for blessing me with what little I had.
Wow!! What a great story.. I am over sixty and suffering from many injuries and arthritis.. to listen to your story and makes me ashamed of my pain.. I learned a long time ago that I should not complain too much because right around the corner there is somebody a lot worse off than I am.. you should be a preacher and use that example in one of your sermons..
Calvin, You are a GOOD man. I admire your honesty and the goodness you share on your channel and in the Philippines. My heart goes out to you - betrayal always cuts deeply. You are a very good role model on how you are handling this. Many if us would have not only quit this project, but also quit helping anyone in the future. And, that type of thinking means the 'bad guys' win. The decision to finish is admirable. As you say, YOU are the 'boots on the ground' so none of us should second guess your decision. Keep up the good works Calvin.
Man I been watching your channel for awhile now...But to be honest I never did subscribe, because so many guys start vlogs about The Philippines only to "Flame Out" after a few months...but after seeing this video I hit that Subscribe button...I too live here in The Philippines and have been here 12yrs straight...I can say this same type of BS has happened to me as well...but the way you are choosing to handle this...brother, I must take my "Hat Off' to you, I could never be so thoughtful during the time someone took my" Kindness For Weakness"...you a good brother I hope after the World gets back to normal that I can fly down and break bread with you sometime... I know we could really "Chop It Up"...Keep Fighting The Good Fight!!!
@@calroach1 ...I'm glad I kept my eye on your channel...You'll be hearing from me...we share some of the same views about life over here...and this is coming from a reformed John but now a solid Joe...hope to catch up with you on your next Live!!
You are very fortunate that it took 12 years to be betrayed. I built a house there and had much worse happen to me. They are experts at ripping off the foreigner. It gets very tiring.
In the future it might be a good idea to set some rules in place which include 'Do NOT steal!" Have it written in Tagalog and signed.Perhaps also set a quota ... in the west it is common sense and we know stealing could end up having us arrested ....but we are in the wild west
When we got a contractor for an office space, I was there every single day checking in at random times for 3 months straight We finished within budget and ahead of schedule. If you don't show them you're serious about not being screwed over, you get screwed over.
Live and learn Calvin. If you decide to ever do a house project again, discuss with the Project lead , three things. 1. Engineering (design drawings) 2. Installation (multiple phases for time and Labor costs for entire project) and 3. Furnishing. ( Major material costs) Document and agree before project start. Pay half up front for the design engineering and major materials to get the project started. ( I would closely monitor the purchase and quantities of materials and storage) When each phase of the job is complete, pay for labor (negotiated based on the engineering design and estimated time up front) This way, they are getting paid with the incentive to complete each phase. Often times the contractor may come to you for time and cost concerns, you want to be made aware and you shouldn't be surprised. (hopefully) How do you continue from here? How much of the project is done? Do they have enough material to complete the project? How many phases are left and estimated completion time? Organize that part (E, F and I) and be more involved in the purchases of material and hold labor pay until those documented phases are complete. Don't let them just have an open checkbook with material, time and labor costs. Keep smiling, complementing the work effort and finish the project ASAP. Then say goodbye, farewell, you need to be on to the next adventure. Good luck and take care Calvin. FYI, I was a Central Office Installation Project Manager at AT&T.
Cal I'm glad you were able to catch things before it got out of hand. Some people will take advantage of your generosity and it's a sad situation. I hate it for you because here you were just trying to help and sometimes people look after themselves.
When I was a kid, I was poor and, lived around some extremely poor people, even poorer than me. Many of them were friends of mine who, also stole from me and my family. Extreme poverty can create a mentality of desperation and dishonesty among the victims of it. Many destitute people (not all) will often try to grab all they can, whenever they can if given a chance. This can even happens among some of them who would otherwise tend to be more honest under normal circumstances. There's no excuse for it but, it's a pattern I have seen before. You must always keep your guard up around desperate people, even if they're your so called friends. Remember; if they've stolen from you or, cheated you once, they will not hesitate to do it again!
I’m much more aware of people that are cynical, I’m the kind of person that would be watching them or anyone that was working for me. I’m from Miami and worked in construction, people were always stealing that’s why I don’t trust anyone. As far as those guys go they wouldn’t be working for me and if the young lady you are helping can’t get a handle on things I personally wouldn’t help anymore. I saw this other blogger went and bought this family clothes food forty kilos of rice and the next they were out on the street selling everything including the babies clothes. Some people you can’t help, buy them a meal.
A wise man reflects and understands why some humans do evil deeds. But a smart man doesn't make that mistake twice. That's life lessons. A big game. Keep up the work sir.
I'm a filipino and I also fell victim to these kind of scam.. so dont trust workers with money and in buying materials, it is really risky. I learned this the hard way. DON,T hire people on the basis of PITY, hire them for work and watch them all the time..because if they see that you have enough, they will always see you as a cash cow filipinos or foreign alike..so be very carefull sir!...
@Zero One Zero interesting perspective, I've dated Filipinas while living in the Middle East and I've never seen a more jealous group of people especially the women who displayed crab mentality more so than the men and if one of the girls in their group is dating a western man the gossip and put down of the girl was brutal. Its tragic to watch people act in this manner. On the other hand I prefer the Filipinas over the Thai women.
@@wjm1050 give him credit for trying, I'd like to watch you give it a go, not so easy. If your crystal ball is so damn good why didn't you warn him in advance??? Arm chair traveler.

People may be able to take materiel things but never let them take your spirt!
You're right Calvin! Finish for baby Denise - she's the innocent here. Trust has to be earned, it's never free. We'll always be "foreigners" and it's good advice not to let your guard down.

Calvin, I like watching your channel. I have no plans of moving to the Philippines or sending support. I'm a truthful person, I say it like it is. I do help people here in my community because it's been hard here also on some families. I just helped my neighbor around the corner a couple days ago. I think you did something very wrong in this video and has opened you up for a lot of harm. I believe you should have kept it under the radar and found a better way to present it. You helped a family suffering. You became a lifeline for them to get them out of a bad situation. They really don't know you and you not them. I hate to say this but you have to hold yourself accountable on this one slso. You may find this one is not going to end all that well. I suggest you gradually separate yourself and family from this. Yes I agree complete the job. Always do 100% when you start something. Become detached from this family gradually. And please don't rudicule this family publicly. They already have enough going on in their life. Yeah they took and didn't tell you but, they would possibly repaid you in other wsys ways. You said their good people good people know what they have done. Now that you know and can afford it help them. Their good at what they do. Use it to your advantage you have a Philipina she knows what to do. Work them until you get your money back. Trust me she knows how to get that money back. Put her incharge. Ask her opinion. You can be spiteful or you can appear as,a godly person. Your choice.
You and I are close to the same age...I'm a little older by a couple of years (60). If you please, I disagree with a couple of things you said... you are special to them Calvin, you really and truly are, but that doesn't change human nature. Remember (whether you like him or not) Reagan was right...Trust, but verify. You can Love people and help people (and yes, still trust them) but do it knowing the rules of the game (if you will). I Love my kids, but I ALWAYS told them to bring me a receipt when they bought something that I sent them for. I ALWAYS check on the guys that work for me and their work...etc. I always tell people this also, to keep honest people honest and to keep us "on the up and up". IMHO there is nothing wrong with "Trust, but verify." I know it hurts, I've been there many many times and I continue to learn the same message I'm preaching. Hang in there my friend!
Newbie here Calvin..dig your channel. From Houston Texas and have a house in Baler Aurora, Luzon 6 years. Work here 6 months live there 6 months except been here one year because of COVID. Really liked what you had to say bro.. keep up being real and transparent. TC
Hi Calvin im sure Donna know about it but she not going to say anything cause she want you to fix the house and continue giveing her money it no way they should have done that to you as good as you been to them they should be ashamed of there self all off them the grandmother to .
You will be blessed 10 fold for your giving heart. Having a kind heart is nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm proud of you. They will answer for there selfishness. Keep on doing what you do. You will be greatly rewarded.
Sorry to hear that you been had bro. Don't let that stop you from continuing helping others. I would cut my losses, head up, and move on to the next helpless person. Stay frosty!
Hey Calvin , Sorry that happened to you. You are educating us all. You have much support brother, hang in there and keep fighting the good fight. Your experiences put the rest of us expats on guard. Trust by Verify. Hope to meet you in person in the future. You are doing Gods work. He sent you angels to warn you that you were getting ripped off. Now you know how to deal with things there. And it’s gives the rest of us a lesson to learn from. Keep up the good works and continue to fight the good fight. You got our prayers.
I think what you did was good but you shouldn't let this evil stop you from helping people. It's just important to back honest people. New subscriber here!
LOVE YOUR HONESTY!!! I'VE been "taken" in situations where I should have seen it comming . . . So the 'reality check' DOES keep me from taking myself too seriously! Keep going man!
Good on you Calvin, if I haven't learned anything in life I've learned this much...the universe will repay your kindness many times over and I say this through all of the years of living in the third world helping others in spite of having been kicked in the ass a few times.
each moment is a teaching moment either this make you better or bitter but knowing you this far it is making you even a better human being than you were yesterday brother....
Unfortunately, helping people is like gambling. Never help those with money that you’re not prepared to loose. I am not saying not to help people, just be prepared to be scammed. There are so many people that need help; be wise in choosing who you will help.
Hey Calvin! Congratulations on reaching 10k subscribers. I've been with you for only a few months and have watched the channel from a few thousand to now 10k subscribers. Wow! God is good!!! God bless you brother!
Sorry man. Another course in the school of hard knocks. I read once that the first, or most important, requirement for a person to be scammed... is to think that it can't happen to them. Hope you have a better day tomorrow. I like your comment that the more people you help...the more likely you will help the right one, btw.
Sunshine Shoulders always gets a thumbs up on his videos from me IN THE FIRST 30 SECONDS because when other UA-camrs start their videos asking (demanding) be to "make sure to Like, to subscribe, to comment, to share their video" just all these orders, when they haven't even "given" me anything yet-- Mr Sunshine Shoulders always begins his videos it seems by first GIVING! Giving thanks! Showing appreciation. Thanking his new subscribers, which I consider myself as one and he thanks his older subscribers and viewers for sticking by him, helping him grow his channel... It just makes me want to listen, consume, and digest just about anything he says next. Good job sir! Don't ever stop or change who you are or what you're doing 💪🏾😎💪🏾 👍🏽
Sad bro. Very sorry hear this. Cal please be careful with Filipino men. Especially destitute Filipino men. There is deep seated resentment towards foreigners who come the Philippines who 1) hold significant financial advantages over them, and 2) take all of the most desirable Filipino women. The hatred is well hidden.
Hey Calvin, sorry that some people are ungrateful n glad ur determined to persevere! I feel ya bro, it's easy to get complacent. Wise men taught me...trust, but verify. They also taught me the 1st rule in boxing...protect yourself at all times. I too am compelled to help others, especially those in need. But yeah, we unfortunately need to choose who to help. Carry on brother
Greed is a terrible thing. I know how painful that must have been man smh.. Sorry to hear that these greedy ass people ruined it for others that will appreciate the help you are giving them.
I'm a new Sub and I heavily Respect you. Keep the good heart and power of discernment that you possess. I've watched a few vids and I'm catching up on all of the rest now. Thanks for sharing your intimate thoughts and testimony.
Human kindness is totally unfair. We live in an uncaring world, yet we try to be kind and caring to others. We know the world is out to burn us, and it gets us in any way it can. But still, we try not to burn each other. We are kind people in an unkind world. How do you pretend you don't know about something, after you see it? How do you act like you don't need something, when you are hurting? How do you even the score and walk off a with a clean conscience? You can't... Our only real choice is kindness.
Hey Cal, you are a real good guy... I think you are awesome... keep that chin up.... betrayal sucks especially when you are the one changing lives of others...
As a pinoy, my advice is never compromise. Forgive but never forget, also try to be low key and don't let them see that you're a potential victim. Sad to hear these things and I'm ashamed of what my idiotic kababayan has done to you. As they say, every forest has a snake.
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with the ungrateful workers Calvin. Donna and baby Denise still appreciate what you are doing. Keep up the good work in the world
Sorry that you've been through this Calvin. It's a sad indictment of the world that we have bad people. I've always been a giver, and I have also been betrayed many time, by people I thought were true friends. I know how cut up you must be feeling right now. Give yourself some time and space, you will get through this. Make sure you never give these guys another peso. I have a business plan, and I know I'm gonna have to be very careful there so that I can secure a future for my daughter. Remember, even if you feel a little foolish, don't let that change who you are in your heart. Obviously, you and your wife are both very giving people. And there will be many people out there who will appreciate you both out there. A minister in my church said one statement to me once that has stayed in my mind: "There are only two kinds of people in the world; people who give, and people who take. But sometimes the people that take will take and take, until you can give no more". One of the sad truths of life. But once again, never lose yourself in all of this. God bless, Andrew.
You are helping the people that you need to help. Baby Denise and Mom Donna. The devil is always at work, but your looking at it from a different perspective and listening to honest criticism, you are moving correct! Dont let those bastards stop YOUR mission! When i get some coins, IM DEF Donating to your cause. Much love bro.
When you said worst nightmare I thought it was a life and death situation, I’ve been an expats in different countries , number one rule I’ve discovered, you never be part of the family, also there is no such thing as a loan only a gift , the only thing you can hope for is to have gf that has your back , which I didn’t in my Filipins gf ,,, most of men in her family will will use her , to get to you , my ex gf had a some uncles were honorable, but her brother and sisters well desperate in poverty and expected a monthly salary,,when she broke up with me they gravitated towards the new bf and completely forgot bout me , unknowingly the Filipino was no good and she was still depending on me, I follow a Filipina on yountube , she said if they always has excuses for money and she don’t have your back leave her alone , when I met her the first time , duh I should of done just that
Calvin I would like to think Donna was not aware of what was going in. I'm sure she is overwhelmed by all the blessings she has received. Her home being fixed the wheel chair for her baby. Not to mention the baby's health and spirit improving I would assume she can't believe her change of fortune after seeing her when you first met. Keep your focus on that baby that's who you want to help. All the rest is just background noise I'm sure it hurts and the clouds in you heart are dark right now. This is your test you have to gather that inner strength and be the bigger man. It's not ok what they did but as you said it is your mission to help that little girl. However those 4 guy's would damn sure know how I felt about what they did. Keep up your good work it just a bump in the road,
Donna knew what was happening, it is within her family. However, important is to focus on the girl and as you said consider this a bump in the road and drive on, but with more precaution I can add.
@my tablet Their Motto is family 1st above all others! That's fine but i do not agree with the lying! Cheating! Stealing, Murder part of it from others! Especially those who are trying to help! I ,know this one Pinay who says she Hates her family but she stills does most of the above for her family. She told me this herself! Still SMH@Her!
I am a Filipino American, 100 percent Filipino just born in America...I also have been cheated and not repaid on promises made....I tried to help out but still like you were taken advantage of.
Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Your attitude of charity even in the face of betrayal & disappointment is admirable & appreciated. Have a great day Calvin!
I'm so so sorry to hear this Calvin, I can see the hurt in you & rightly so. Unfortunately theres those people the world over that take advantage of a good thing & good people helping them. I've always been a giver to those in need or less fortunate & i've been abused in similar ways & it's always about their gain. It hurts, it's betrayal & each time i've felt as you do now. I take a step back & re-avaluate, then carry on but try to be more chosey, more careful. It hurts even more when it's people you care about & even my own brother took my total life savings from me many years ago. BUT we keep going & nothing can change the way we are inside, especially if you're a caring, loving soul. Keep strong Calvin, we're right with you.
Personally I’ve wouldn’t of helped them. I have an ex in the Philipinnes. Keep in mind family stick together and they probably found out you’re getting donations and they want a piece of the action. Leave them alone before you get
hurt or set up
If you can't trust them after being that kind to them, I'd say be very careful once you confront them because you could end up dead. There's a different mindset over there when Filipinos are confronted about doing something crooked and even more so if by a foreigner. I'd personally put a lot of distance between me and those people, but those are decisions you have to make for yourself. Good luck.
100% right
💯 Filipinos HATE to "lose face". They can and often will retaliate.
Sure just try to forgive them but do keep your distance to them
Watch your back Calvin, especially since you've made their misdeeds public.Stay safe brother.🌞💪🌴
Calvin, you are the right man at the right time. Keep fighting the good fight!
Isn't a Japanese product better than a Chinese product?...Ah well.
Yes. i have notice that about some of them also! No manners ! No Appreciation! Sad!

They stole from Baby Denise. I am angry and not apologizing for that.. Gonna donate again.
That's really who they stole from. They will pay for that.
*GodBlessYouCalvin* 👍👏🙏
The problem is hiring family. Every scrap of material that you brought into the family home automatically becomes the whole family's property to dispose of as any of them see fit.
I don't have the charity endorphins that most people do. I don't get the buzz from helping people. Only mutually beneficial relationships for me.
I'm the same. I looooove for the other party to have great benefits from having business interactions with me, but helping strangers, not so much, especially as others butt in like extended family. I'll do it when I really know the situation, but I don't want surprises like this.
After a lifetime of discovering that the people we help, won't help us back ,when the situation is reversed, I feel the same way as you do.
Don’t be hurt or embarrassed....they showed their heart....we all see yours. It’s ok to think about it for a day or 2, learn from it. Then put it behind and move on. Finished what you promised that baby, and move on. Don’t stop with her, find another
Thanks brother it means a lot.
well said.
Huge respect to you Calvin. It's hard not to take this betrayal personally. Vengeance was my first thought. But it would also hurt the children that are innocent.
Understanding what poverty does to some people is very wise and you put their actions in the right context. Thank you for sharing this experience.
no good deed goes unpunished
First I have heard that quote, but true it is.
@Jim Ferrante You're right, Jim. Wikipedia suggests from the 14th Century & perhaps from antiquity

Inconceivable! In the Philippines?! anyway...12 years in and you're still in one piece? I'd say u'r doing better than most
Whats sad is that baby Denise is caught in the middle, Ive been scammed in similar fashion Calvin, learned my lesson. You are a better man than them, love u brother!!!
I used to live in York pa
Very sad. To steal and scam
@The Lone Stranger I had a cop in Angeles tell me "don't trust anybody here... I LIVE here and I don't trust anybody". I took his advice...
@The Lone Stranger I'd prefer a vasectomy but to each his own LOL
@The Lone Stranger Those work for some minutes after that they GET POUROUS....There is also gel anti infective....there is a QUICK swab test (U will need to do it EACH time) on the spot RESULTS & 1 pretty sure way is ask them if they REGULARLY R "VOLUNTEER BLOOD DONORS" ... ask to see their card & when LAST TIME they gave & donated blood...
That’s just how philippines is. Corrupted
Most Filipinos I have tried to help find more reasons to ask for money until they cross the line to becoming a scammer. Now, I only help my girlfriend and her immediate family, and only a few other Filipino friends.
Sometimes the immediate family becomes a problem as well.
Help yourself, don't help anyone ...
You think they only do this to foreigners? They do it to everyone family included. I know many nurses who make well over 150k annually who lives in poverty here in America. They send everything back for family.
You handled it well, it is a dog eat dog world there. You explained what happen extremely well. Another listen up guys!!

I would have assumed they all are in on it, and left quick.Foreigners are just sheep to be fleeced in the third world, and we can't change that.
However, this will not stop me donating to Sunshine Shoulders when I can as I believe fully in what you are doing.
Jah Bless
Thanks so much for your kindness and support brother it means a lot.

Agree 💯
Contractors (many not all) do that all of the time, GLOBALLY. Order more materials than needed. To prevent that YOU need to buy and control the materials and negotiate for the price of labor ONLY.
And labor by the job maybe, not by the hour
@@JJ38255 Correct
But you have to allow for a certain percentage of scrap. To do a job . Yes sometimes people that are desperate might do things they would not normally do. But the pandemic may have been really to much of a strain . Have mercy on them brother Calvin. They did take advantage.
I know that in your heart you would have helped them. Finiance some material for a second job. Let it go brother and don’t use on your next project.

@my tablet you right.
Unfortunately,. Donna and the uncle's are all in on the theft. The only honest individual has been silenced by fate - 🐥 baby Denise ...
Yup. She also saw him as a sucker
I agree, but that does not change the mission. That is in helping the little girl live a more comfortable life. When the project is done say goodbye.
@Prune Picker yep I put that cap on when I am in P.I.
After we are gone, she will still be with them likely in their house. What was she to do even if she knew? Why not just ask them to kick her out?
God bless you, Calvin. I have my own story. It’s hard when we are betrayed by people we have believed in so much. But I’m still here.
GREAT MESSAGE CALVIN - GOOD HEARTED AND KEEP ROCKING BROTHER
Class act Calvin. You turned the other cheek. It will be fine. Keep caring for them brother.

Darkness ...always will be exposed to a good man.
I have learn to never blame the dark for all the bad shit that happens in the light of day! 4 real!
Amen brother

You are very fortunate that it took 12 years to be betrayed. I built a house there and had much worse happen to me. They are experts at ripping off the foreigner. It gets very tiring.
Unfortunately it’s very common in the Philippines with contractors, it’s a rolling joke at the hardware stores
Heart of God. Powerful.... Keep doing God's work Brother and let your Light so shine. Gods definitely got you.
Grateful,
Live and learn Calvin. (hopefully)
How do you continue from here?
Outstanding accomplishments, in all you do.
Congratulations on behalf of your first 10,000 subscribers.
Surely, there will be thousands more
When I was a kid, I was poor and, lived around some extremely poor people, even poorer than me.
Don't sweat it man, this is as common in the Philippines as it is in the United States. Even Filipinos get ripped off too.
This is true. And a lot of our criminals use the red tape or politicians to get much more rich than stealing tools off a jobsite.
The whistle blowers deserve a reward, they saved you a ton of money not to mention more grief
hopefully the 'whistle blowers' don't get retaliated against and don't end up getting beaten up or worse.
No need to mention anything about a whistle blower. Where was the material I bought used is enough.

This needs to go viral to teach every filipino never to do this in the future.
Plus, she might be afraid of them and so kept her mouth shut until she could find an indirect way of getting info back to you.
@@tomcatdsl True, she may know but not agree with what they're doing, however she can't go against the family she lives with.
You will be blessed 10 fold for your giving heart. Having a kind heart is nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm proud of you. They will answer for there selfishness. Keep on doing what you do. You will be greatly rewarded.
no more sleep walking calvin
So sorry to hear.
Stay strong
You are a great human being. I've been sick with covid. I hope I make it and shake your hand one day
LOVE YOUR HONESTY!!!
New subscriber. No good deed go unpunished. Keep up the good work Calvin
each moment is a teaching moment either this make you better or bitter but knowing you this far it is making you even a better human being than you were yesterday brother....
Your situation brings to mind something my sister once told me. Be weary of those who smile, because you never know what’s behind that smile.
Be rich in "good works"... (1 Timothy 6:17-19).🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for your honesty! You are a special human being who will ultimately prevail!
You’re an awesome human being. Keep doing what you do.
OMG, that is unbelievable.
I'm a new Sub and I heavily Respect you. Keep the good heart and power of discernment that you possess. I've watched a few vids and I'm catching up on all of the rest now. Thanks for sharing your intimate thoughts and testimony.
Welcome to my channel and thanks for your support
Human kindness is totally unfair.
We live in an uncaring world, yet we try to be kind and caring to others.
We know the world is out to burn us, and it gets us in any way it can.
But still, we try not to burn each other.
We are kind people in an unkind world.
How do you pretend you don't know about something, after you see it?
How do you act like you don't need something, when you are hurting?
How do you even the score and walk off a with a clean conscience?
You can't... Our only real choice is kindness.
That was deep bro, I felt that
Enjoy the success. Even when it's small 🙂
A minister in my church said one statement to me once that has stayed in my mind:
"There are only two kinds of people in the world; people who give, and people who take. But sometimes the people that take will take and take, until you can give no more".
One of the sad truths of life. But once again, never lose yourself in all of this.
God bless,
Andrew.
@Eamonn Hogan For sure the churches make money, but more than that I was indicating types of people in the world.
When you said worst nightmare I thought it was a life and death situation, I’ve been an expats in different countries , number one rule I’ve discovered, you never be part of the family, also there is no such thing as a loan only a gift , the only thing you can hope for is to have gf that has your back , which I didn’t in my Filipins gf ,,, most of men in her family will will use her , to get to you , my ex gf had a some uncles were honorable, but her brother and sisters well desperate in poverty and expected a monthly salary,,when she broke up with me they gravitated towards the new bf and completely forgot bout me , unknowingly the Filipino was no good and she was still depending on me, I follow a Filipina on yountube , she said if they always has excuses for money and she don’t have your back leave her alone , when I met her the first time , duh I should of done just that
Thank you for the reminder, you are a great man.
God bless you.
remember - your mistakes are our value
Thanks for sharing this. Stay strong. Stay well.
Keep up your good work it just a bump in the road,
Great advice Ken that’s the correct way to look at it all.
That's right, just a bump in the road on the journey to helping many people.
Donna knew what was happening, it is within her family. However, important is to focus on the girl and as you said consider this a bump in the road and drive on, but with more precaution I can add.
What gets me is that they call themselves devout Christians and are not!
You have a good Heart but a lot of people see kindness as a weakness and will take advantage
'the more people i help, the more likely it is im gonna help the right people ...' god bless your good heart brother.
It's not on you Calvin. The "fool me once" rule applys.
Keep your good karma!
Absolutely brother!
@@calroach1 she knew.........
