Today, as I was thinking off into space, I wondered to myself, "Do you remember that one GAP commercial you saw years ago when you were a kid, with everyone dancing, and those two guys doing that one arm-loop thing?" On a whim, I looked it up here on youtube and found it. Thank you a whole bunch of alot for putting this video up. You're a pocket full of awesome.
Holy shit! I was 11 years old when this commercial came out. This song was stuck in my head for awhile, I couldnt get it out. Damn, I miss the 90s. I wonder who made the catchy beat?
The Song used in the Video is called Gettin It Off by Fuzzy Haskins (1977) and is a song in its own right, not just a song made for the advert, and what a track it is....
i've been wondering the same thing. like, the 70s style was very different than the 80s, and the 80s was so different from the 90s. but the 90s doesn't seem SO different from now. yeah, there were some trends that aren't around anymore, like shiny sweat suits, big scrunchies, and overalls, but in general, mostly just tweeaks and upgrades.
advertising is to get ppl who don't do something to do sometbing besides, this was a series of commericials that featured all the major american dance styles...country, soul, swing, rock and hip hop
@freshPrincess626 I agree completely. Especially the 80's-if you compare 1980 to1989, it's like they are two different decades! There was so much change in the 80's.
to follow my old comment my bad this commercial did come out like 9 yrs before the gap commercials are pretty much tight as heck hopefully they dont change no complaints haha word to your mother
I used to LOVE this commercial...it kinda makes me feel a little old now, though lol thanks for posting! As far as the song goes, I don't think it's an actual song...just done for the commercial.
HOLD UP! can everyone just rewind and watch 0:10 and WHATTTTTT!? lol did they just do that without tripping all over each other? or was it some eye trick?
this commercial came out 12 years ago, and they still look pretty cool back than.....back in '95 we call could agree that people in the early to mid 80s dressed just horrible, how did style drastically change so quickly in that decade but since the mid '90s to now, it's almost the same, just a few tweaks here and there, but nothing drastic? any commenst or thoughts to that?
Um... I don't think this is Hip Hop... It maybe sounds like a song a DJ might sample and turn into hip hop beat... but it's not very hip hop in and of itself.

if only their clothes were as good as their ads...
Does anyone know who choreographed this commercial? Remember Toni Basil? Of 'Mickey' fame? She choreographed it.

Popin Pete and the late Skeeter Rabbit of the Electric Boogaloos making an appearance in this video.

With emphasis on HAD. Why aren't the Gap commercials this inventive and simple anymore?
Choreography by Toni Basil of "OH MICKY" fame. Directed by Roman Copolla.
This is so 90'-ties! And I love it!
The Gap had the best commercials.
Hello from 2020... just let me clear the dust of this old video for ya !

uh-oh, ol' girl at :22 was gettin it!
Its not hip hop, its groove. The ad says so!
not sure if you're aware but original 70s B-boys used to dance to funk music as hip-hop music had not been invented at that time. A great Ad
Gettin It Off by Fuzzy Haskins (1977)
Joely Beau you the mvp! I been wondering who this was for 20 years!
Thank you
I found it! Awesome commercial.
probably because the out of touch ad execs think all our tastes have "evolved"......bring these type of commercials back!!!
Commercials will never be this cool again.

Although it makes me feel old too, the Clip doesn't itself look so old,or 'feel' old, it has a very classic look and the dancing is phenomenal
It's very similar to or based off the song "One And One" off Miles Davis's "On The Corner" album, just watered down.
Badass
my people, my people!! 💓
Just more proof how awesome the 90s was
Groovy
HOLD UP! can everyone just rewind and watch 0:10 and WHATTTTTT!? lol did they just do that without tripping all over each other? or was it some eye trick?
what song is this anyone know?
Fuzzy Haskins - Getting It Off
wade also choroegraphed it too
Wade didn't choreographed it, Toni more of directed me and skeet made up our own routines and everyone just freestyled
@RKeithFries he's an Aussie?
