Thank you! I’m so glad I’ve found this channel! Your paintings are so detailed and beautiful, that’s a lot to learn from. I’ve painted a bird recently, a dove, but not with so many details. The real challenge there was to show the pink and green shine on it’s neck

Thank you so much Natalie. Yes, trying to achieve those iridescent colours within some birds such as Dove, Pigeons, Pheasants and many more, can be tricky to get right. Use your bright colours first for those areas. Paul 🎨

I have just come across your channel and I have found that your way of painting to be exactly how I want to paint, mostly birds as I am a bird photographer so i have lots of inspiration and subjects that I want to cover. I particularly like your approach to feathers that seems very achievable. Have just subscribed, so now have lots of tutorials to watch, of which i look forward to. Many thanks for sharing your passion.

Hi Vic, thank you so much, that's very kind of you to say. It's good to be able to paint from your own photographs, which I also try to do some time. I only use a Canon M50, but it does take some lovely pics. Paul 🎨

Thank you Lori, but daunting, not so much when you take the process in small steps and at a leisurely pace. 😁

Great lesson. I'm trying to paint all the fine curved lines on a Great Horned Owl's belly. Too much too soon for me. Maybe a larger paper, or give my #1 brush a trim? I tried to put him on a greeting card, ridiculous idea, I know.

You can do it Bonnie. Anything like that, try to plan it all first, think about the layers and colours you may need. Plus, I always like to test my colour out before I start the main project. But yes, a greeting card may be a bit small for such a majestic bird. Paul 🎨

At 5:26, you use a yellowish paint. It sounds like you’re calling it Gambo Hue. Can you clarify the name and manufacturer? I’d love to get some. Thanks. I love your bird, by the way.

Correct! LOL. Yes, this is the Gamboge Hue with a touch of Burnt Umber mixed into it. Thank you for watching. Paul 🎨

How many layers do you have to do on feathers and fur,he most grateful

Hi, this tends to vary depending on the type of fur/ feathers, colours and the depth I feel is need for that painting. I would say usually 3-4 layers on average though. Paul 🎨
