    This made me feel wonderful. I love realism and details but it seems most watercolor artist push the idea that “real watercolor artist paint loose”. I’m gonna get busy my way (and your way 🥰) now. You have a new follower!

      I also like more realism in my paintings. Just doing shapes & then drawing around them can be pretty but texture “those lil details” are what need to learn! Ty

    This is too amazing for words!!!! I so badly wish you had full length tutorial on creating texture. Once I started feeling good about my watercolor I started wanting to add texture and it’s a completely new and different skill… how did miss how important this is? Are you working on hot press paper? I have a terrible time trying to create texture on cold press. I can’t get those fine lines

      @TheDevonArtist  2 роки тому

      Glad my video was helpful Katherine. I use cold pressed 140lb Bockingford paper, which I've used for many years.
      I do have a couple of playlists on painting texture is it helps.

    I like water. But something I wasn't actively thinking about is the reflection from the sky. 13:35 14:43
    Great hint about putting paper around the tree, etc to confine the spater technique. First time I've listened/watched your video. I've already subscribed.
    How about doing a background for a couple of blooms & leaves?

    What a nice and useful video! I loved it!
    What I find difficult is the shiny metal... I cannot see all the colors and the reflections I should put in the painting.
    A more detailed video on that would be great but, to be honest, any other video would be very helpful, I am sure!

    • @TheDevonArtist
      @TheDevonArtist  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Chiara, that's a good idea for the metalwork. The main video on my website is much more involved as these are snippets from that particular video my members watch. devonartist.co.uk/memberships/
      Just remember to really zoom into a photo and try to isolate the area you are working on by using a piece of card with a hole cut out of it, then lightly taping it over the top of the photograph. This will help you concentrate on just that one area and fingers crossed to see more of the colours and details. Paul 🎨

    This is a great video, I really love the techniques particularly the rust and stone ones. I definitely want to learn about textures in detail. I would like to know how to do pathways, black weatherboarding, fabrics, sea sparkle, foam on water (I am in river water pollution environmental work), mirages if that is a texture, chalk cliffs/chalk/fossil textures, rain on pavements at night and day.
