I love your masking fluid tips they're wonderful they have really enhanced my painting I want to include one thing that I have found a small jar of water with a couple drops of dawn dish soap if you dip your dry brush in that 1st dab it off just a little and then start using your masking fluid it comes out of the brush much easier, then rinse it out in the soapy water once again and then rinse in cool clear water

This is too amazing for words!!!! I so badly wish you had full length tutorial on creating texture. Once I started feeling good about my watercolor I started wanting to add texture and it’s a completely new and different skill… how did miss how important this is? Are you working on hot press paper? I have a terrible time trying to create texture on cold press. I can’t get those fine lines

I like water. But something I wasn't actively thinking about is the reflection from the sky. 13:3514:43 Great hint about putting paper around the tree, etc to confine the spater technique. What a nice and useful video! I loved it! What I find difficult is the shiny metal... I cannot see all the colors and the reflections I should put in the painting. A more detailed video on that would be great but, to be honest, any other video would be very helpful, I am sure!
Hi Chiara, that's a good idea for the metalwork. The main video on my website is much more involved as these are snippets from that particular video my members watch. devonartist.co.uk/memberships/ Just remember to really zoom into a photo and try to isolate the area you are working on by using a piece of card with a hole cut out of it, then lightly taping it over the top of the photograph. This will help you concentrate on just that one area and fingers crossed to see more of the colours and details. Paul 🎨
This is a great video, I really love the techniques particularly the rust and stone ones. I definitely want to learn about textures in detail. I would like to know how to do pathways, black weatherboarding, fabrics, sea sparkle, foam on water (I am in river water pollution environmental work), mirages if that is a texture, chalk cliffs/chalk/fossil textures, rain on pavements at night and day.

Thank you for sharing your talent & knowledge! Doing texture is harder for me (just beginning) & can do first washes but get stuck on exactly where to put them!
You are so welcome! Remember to zoom into a reference photograph and look deep behind those details for the background colours. 😉
@@TheDevonArtist I made two papers w the square cut out in middle & is amazing how then (on reference photo) can see smaller places & the colors!

What I find difficult is the shiny metal... I cannot see all the colors and the reflections I should put in the painting.
A more detailed video on that would be great but, to be honest, any other video would be very helpful, I am sure!
Hi Chiara, that's a good idea for the metalwork. The main video on my website is much more involved as these are snippets from that particular video my members watch. devonartist.co.uk/memberships/
Just remember to really zoom into a photo and try to isolate the area you are working on by using a piece of card with a hole cut out of it, then lightly taping it over the top of the photograph. This will help you concentrate on just that one area and fingers crossed to see more of the colours and details. Paul 🎨

This is a great video, I really love the techniques particularly the rust and stone ones. I definitely want to learn about textures in detail. I would like to know how to do pathways, black weatherboarding, fabrics, sea sparkle, foam on water (I am in river water pollution environmental work), mirages if that is a texture, chalk cliffs/chalk/fossil textures, rain on pavements at night and day.
