Raf seems like a solid collaborator. Not easy to find workers who are invested in the problem solving, working hard, and have so many skills to bring to the table. I hope as your business grows you have a long and fruitful partnership!
This video has really helped me today. I've had a shit day, I had to phone an ambulance for my mother, she's having to stay in hospital overnight due to breathing difficulties. I'm also a full time carer for my disabled girl and I've just had an absolutely manic day. I haven't stopped since early this morning and I finally got to sit down around 2200 and I popped this video on and it just took my mind off everything for half an hour. Thank you.
Take care of yourself. There are organization that help caretakers take a nap, shower, go grocery shopping, dentist appointments, etc. Burnout and ruined health can happen. Please look into this and I sincerely hope that your situation gets much better.
Current and future clients will know that they'll receive high quality work form you. The amount of detail and pride put into your endeavors is incredible. Continued success to you.
The only problem is that Chris is great with his work but really slack with safety, if he wants to keep doing such a great job with all his senses and arms legs working 100% he needs to be much more savvy with his and his mate’s safety.
I envy the energy the pair of you have. But then I did sixty years ago. Now at 88 I just sit back and enjoy watching you with your amazing enthusiasm, energy and knowledge. Another very interesting video. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one. Mounting pressure. Sorry about that.;-)
Rafo Sir, always good to see you back at the graft. I have a mate; much like Kris, he gets me doing all sorts of heavy, height and hard labour. But what a joy to be a part of. Great work Kris, a workshop of envy, products that are Rightoeus... and a great insight into the 'Way'. Gorw it, eat it... then make it. I love your work Sir's. Plus Dot and animal companions. Peace m.
Jamaica 🇯🇲 here I am a stay at home grandma and l always watch your post but lost contact but now I found it again and have been go through the ones I missed out and I am appreciating your work all the more be bless and stay safe
Wow! Great opening with the Rover picking its way through the wilderness. Also what a high quality build and design on the water line and turbine house complete with stone patio and style appropriate door. CLASSY!Shame it’s out in the woods where it can’t get more admiration, lol. Can’t wait for the final turbine installation and sea trial.
I’m always SO inspired whenever I finish watching one of your videos! I just bought my first home and your channel has given me much inspiration for fixing up the place and the land!
Alright Kris loved the video, love the hydro series and the rest. I work as a control and instrumentation engineer, I'm not a metrologist or telling you what to do, but if you're running a business in hydro it won't cost you much and set your mind at ease if you spend the cash and get your pressure meters etc calibrated once a year. You can give that as part of a certificate of conformity to your customers as well which is a win win and will make you look more 'professional'. There's an open source book you may be interested in that includes measurement called lessons in industrial instrumentation. It gives a good overview of measurement of different parameters like pressure and pitfalls to avoid I've found it useful throughout my career and would suggest it's worth a flick through. As other comments have mentioned you can figure out static/head pressures quite easily but with joins and Venturis etc you can be off. That book gives some good rules of thumb, your intuition is already strong though which is good. Keep the vids coming mate!
A lot of what one sees on YT is DIY efforts at a wide variety of skill levels. This is probably the best I've seen. VERY professional and thorough! The quality and attention to detail are amazing. Very well done, guys!
Another superb video Kris and looking forward to the day of generating power for the first time for your client! Your troubles with your vehicles must have been very trying but good to see we’re able to sort it in the end. Love following your progress - well done to you and Dot.
As much as anything (and that's a lot) I'm impresses by your ability to absorb disappointment, grin and "keep on truckin'". Continued good fortune my friend; you are an inspiration.
Such a neat and clean great job. You always go above what is expected. It is amazing at what you accomplish. Glad your friend was able to help you again.
Kris, a suggestion. It looks like the gauge in question is a liquid filled gauge and sometimes they build up a pressure inside and do not indicate the correct pressure. Pop the edge of the rubber plug and equalize the pressure to the surrounding pressure. I think you will see/hear air hiss out or get a little squire of light oil. I had the same problem earlier this year and thought the gauge was bad but read correctly after that little adjustment.

Absolutely in awe of what you can do. The skills that you have and share here is highly appreciated . Hats of to Raf as well , not scared of hard work and helps where the problem solving is concerned. Keep the videos coming love what you do.
Hey Kris, awesome series. I can tell you take pride in your work and it shows in your craftsmanship. Thanks for uploading the video and sharing your knowledge.
It's inspiring to see the collaboration between you and Raf in the installation of the Coanda Screen Intake for the North Wales 1.5kw Hydroelectric System. Raf seems like a dedicated and skilled collaborator, who is invested in problem-solving and working hard to get the job done. It's not always easy to find someone with such a range of skills, so it's great to see that you have found a solid partner for your growing business. I hope that your partnership continues to be fruitful and that you both can continue to innovate and solve problems together as you expand your hydroelectric system. This video is a testament to the power of collaboration and hard work in achieving success.

Thanks Kris for sharing your very interesting project. I’ve now watched (and subscribed), with growing interest several of your vlogs and observed your methodology and am very impressed by the practical way you evolve your knowledge base as you encounter issues. It’s clear that you’re open to tweaking your original plans where necessary to make them work more efficiently and that’s great to see. Well done and thanks again.
Great video Kris. Love watching your mind work and solving problems as you go along. Nothing better than watching a defender in the environment it's was designed for too... Love it mate! Thanks for the double vid!

Re: pipe joiners, a trick that I learned while working adjacent to the water department of the council was to remove the internal shoulder of the joiner using a lathe. Allows you to slide the whole joiner on to one of the pipes, get the ends lined up and then slide it back to be centred over the gap. Good for pipe wrestling in a ditch.

I realize this video is 2 years old now I just subscribed but I'm extremely happy to see that you guys took the effort to collect all that plastic Sawdust and considering it being unhealthy for the environment and also if that project was being done here in the USA Some contractor would charge you a fortune to move that Boulder and then create a form and poor chemical concrete instead of doing what you did and using a boulder that has probably been sitting there for more than 10,000 years and hasn't budged I wish more people here in the states would think that way❤😊

That is a pretty awesome build you are making some lucky person. Lots of good craftsmanship, sympathetic to its surroundings and beautifully finished .... right down to landscaping the pipe run. If you're not charging at least 5 figures for the job then you are under valuing yourself. And no, Im not asking what you are charging. That would be crass on an open forum. You and Raff work well together.
Don't mean to be crass, but I would be curious what a job like this runs. Not to be nosy, but we want such a system and I honestly have no idea what to budget! I'm sure it's all on a case by case basis though, so whatever this job costs may not be anywhere close to what our situation would run. In any event, it's a first class job!
If you have a continual downward piping from your intake you will have no problems . But if you have any upward rising parts of the hose like going over small hills on its downward trend you will have the problem of air collecting on the top half of these little hills Creating great resistance in the flow of the water down to your turbine. The only solution is to have a tap fitted at the highest point of the rise, to relieve any ear bubbles that may collect hence improving water flow and lessening the resistance in the pipe.

Spot on. A gauge mounted vertically doesn’t need the rubber plug spiked, but a gauge laying flat or horizontal needs to be spiked to equalise
that's a really good tip. cheers man
The oil is only there for dampening the needle where the pressure is bouncing a bit. The oil should always be at atmosphere pressure.

Yeah, that too. Shipment by air or exposure to extreme Temps will mess with a glycerin filled if not vented. The nice ones have a twist valve to vent
