  • Pirozhki is a meat and vegetable filled bun and it is a popular street food in Eastern Europe. I have never sampled a truly authentic pirozhki but if they’re anything like the ones I make I know I’ll love them! 😊
My kids always loved when I made these when they were growing up. This finger food is easy to make, easy to eat and they reheat well.
I generally use a ground meat like turkey or beef. I also generally chop up a head of cabbage but this time I had a package of coleslaw mix with both green and purple cabbage and carrot that i substituted. I also used a diced onion. After the meat was browned in a skillet I added in seasoning (adobo, garlic powder and onion powder, salt and pepper) and then my onion and coleslaw mix and cooked it down. Adjust your seasonings to your taste.
Instead of making bread I used Rhodes frozen bread dough. Once thawed I used my rolling pin to flatten the dough, I added a scoop of the filling mixture then covered the mixture with another flattened roll. I crimped the edges then brushed with egg wash.
I baked the pirozhki in a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes.
    These are delicious!
