If the interviewer was a little more compassionate, I think we'd have a better story with more information. It feels more like I just walked into this lady's house and tried to embarrass her about something she is already getting help for. It would have been nice to hear how it started happening, why she did or still does it, how she realized she had a problem, where she got support, and how she is rebuilding her life and what she is learning from this experience.

A shopaholic doesn’t know why they are a shopaholic. Something from their past can trigger the addiction. Just like a alcoholic will always be a alcoholic, a Shopaholic will always be a Shopaholic. The good news is that it is treatable. A Shopaholic is not proud of what they became. Many deal with shame and guilt for the debt that they have created. Debt that can take years to pay off. Some pay off the debt and fall right back into it because they haven’t come to grips with their shopaholic addiction.

3/20/19.....Older YT video but still informative.
Online shopping---stay home/go to work/stay up late---there is 24/7/365 shopping online & on tv shopping sites where they have cute/perky/"you must buy this" sales professionals/actors who come thru the tv screen & become your "best friend".
I have bought items online---eBay most of the time---but NEVER bought shoes/clothing b/c of size & quality + I want to see it on a person or in person---so I have shopped using tv sites. Some are good....some not so good.
Most ppl are buying online so many stores/companies have lost business/closed or in the process of downsizing.
Still too much American consumerism + "I deserve/want this" attitude + easy credit with min pmt plans.
ALL THIS has caused growing amt of hoarders + shopaholics + ppl in debt.....but has also caused a new "profession"----ppl who are "professional organizers" & who are keeping WalMart + The Container Store + others in business selling millions of plastic bins with tight lids!
So even "bad habits" can promote "new businesses"!
