It's guys like you that post free, detailed information on subjects that are obscure to most of us that help make the internet such a wonderful tool, thanks.
You had three large socket boards . It’s nice to see someone helping out scrapers. There’s a lot Scrap yards thieves out there . I’ve found a couple strait up buyers . So now I buy boards and equipment in Chicagoland. So now I can pay electronic scrapers a fair price for there boards. I have some very reliable sellers and happy with my prices.
Thank you ...The table of contents came up as I was redoning my Dvd..I think this wil help my viewers find an area in the video without having to watch the entire video again...Thank you for all the positive comments...I do have some new material coming out this year and you will all be amazed of what I have found...Thank you again.
Another extremely informative video by Mike the Scrapper. I really enjoy all your videos and can see the improvement over time. There are so many times I want to go back and see a particular part of a video but can't remember where it is, the timeline seems like a great idea. A "Table of Contents" if you will. Keep up the great work !
very very sweet resource man! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this as well as putting in the awesome timeline. I am new to selling my eScrap to boardsort and this is exactly what I was looking for to use to send in my first box of boards to them. I have this bookmarked as well as subscribed to your channel.
That's pretty weird Mike. I found a local scrap yard that'll take boards and now I'm going to start salvaging them and don't know too much about grading them aside from the obvious motherboards and crap boards from tv's. Logic boards from a harddrive I probably would of tossed in with the low grade lol! This yard is pretty honest though, so they prob would of took it out and said it's worth a shitload compared to low-grade. Thanks for the vid, gives me more info on grading boards!
Mike are all peripheral boards gold finger. I took apart a slightly older tower and I'm pretty sure that the contacts I'm looking at are gold but not perfectly sure.
Nice video explaining the differences between board types. I'll need to sort through my green boards again and take any that appear to be peripheral boards and put them in a separate pile. What do you do with any thin ribbon cables (like those that come out of laptop CD/DVD drives) that have gold plating on the connector end? I got a few laptops in that I'm going through the process of scrapping and pulled a few out and noticed the gold on them.
Scrap Rats TV The strips from flat screens are considered finger cards as far as scrap value?I've disposed of hundreds of panels with those boards still attached!
fantastic video mike im new to this and it was very very helpfull .I've watched it 11 times and have shared with friends .TIM from Australia Victoria .Melbourne.A1 video .thank you very much .
It's March 2021 and the prices are the exactly the same via boardsort. Crap......however, best video I seen on this topic. Why can't you break other boards besides the low G? I thought it all gets shredded? To confirm. Transformers are the difference between mid and peripheral boards? Is it not worth depopulating? I got a little osalating saw that just pops everything up and was the funnest part. - Appreciate you
Hey Man, You need to open the Mike the Scrapper School for Scrappers. You are good at explaining this stuff. You need to also write a book or an ebook. Dude you'd make a killing. BTW, what state are you in?
It does happen that boards do break when removing the copper, transformers, etc...They will still give you money for the board although it is broken...They all go in a shredder. so no need to worry.
you said it doesn't matter if you break them. so do they take all the little pieces I break when im taking metal off of the boards too? every little bit counts
This is the first time I've Watch one of your videos. Found it very informative. We use the same scrap yard but I have a ton o questions I'd like to ask you privately. Is there a way to send you a private message. I manage a couple of buildings and have come into a lot of scrap I'm not sure what to do with!
If I am understanding you correctly, I could remove copper coils, and aluminum heat sinks from boards, and when I sell them, the buyer won't care. Is that correct? Thanks in advance...
good info mike now I can sort my boards better. I been pretty much sorting my boards with gold on them as high grade and my brown boards as low. but I see I can sort them a little more. But my bigest problem is were to take them. do you know of a webside that will locate a place that buys them. so fare the scraps I have here dont. any ideas. because I'm running out of room.
Hi I’m a small youtuber who teaches people people how to make Money 💵 scrapping their electronics. Most common finds and Copper and Gold which will be sold for Cash. So sub2 my channel and learn more
Do you have any advice for how to remove solder without professional tools? I realize it probably isn't worth much (to some people), but I'd like to save it :) .
Great video Mike! Best ever, this will really help, now to just memorize.video's are really looking profesional will they be avalable in three D LOL. later David O.
hi my name is mohannad i am iraqi man please how can i sold my scrap because my country don't purches my hards or fingers or wires or boards please tell me how can i sold it to another country and sory for bad my languge iam arabic man
Great vid Mike (new subscriber here). Question for you. I have a bunch of unpopulated green circuit boards (with what looks like silver areas to put stuff on). They are flat and green on both sides. Can I scrap these? What category would they fall into? thanks
Depending on strip down. You can take the transformer & copper off a low grade board. but if you cut the fingers of a PCI card. You will not get Pci card price.
hey Mike good info but sadly forme all the companies thati found in my coutry you have to pay them to take your boards. I realy think it is a disgrace on their side as they will earn money when they sell them, but they want to get money to recieve and then again to sell.... what a shame :(
hey mike, i enjoy your outlook and in depth knowledge. i scrap many years ,the basics, by ton (ferris) and as much non ferris as my bins fill up and i find time to take in. so... in regaurds to knowing your boards , please help me further. do you try to pull everything from a board ? do you sell a flat board of its grade ? put all capacitors in a bin ? i know the alluminum and copper. I guess im excited to have you do a DETAILED item by item of some of these foreign things on boards.thanks in advance and i should subscribe. im also semi computer illiterate.
lets say a mother board. pull the Ram CPU and heat sink. that's it. As far as capacitors I leave those alone. I do sell the board for the grades. Boardsort.com has some pics on what you should look for.
Mike the Scrapper Don't forget the CPU heatsink retainer....Boardsort.com is a QUALIFIED source for information. Remember partial information still leaves people in the dark!!! ScrapMetalForum.com is a great community of people to get many different educaded views on scrap sourcing.
I'm having alot of trouble telling the difference between mid grade high value and not high value mid grade. I'm prepping my first sale to buyer and he wants the " low value mid grade " separate from the high value mid grade. I mean he pays more for high value mid grade then he does for small socket mother boards. I'm thinking maybe the ones with big plugs and transformers are low value? But they still are very nice with the same components as the good ones.. just confused. I think I will just remove as much of the junk as I can and hope for the best.
the mother board you show that looks like all gold plated top and bottom.why cant I perse the gold underneath the film that covers the gold that covers the hole board top and bottom of the mother board I have several of thes board but cant get gold off of them, nothinfg eats the film cover over the board
That motherboard is not gold plated, it has a yellow colored solder-mask coating (vs the more common green, blue, or red) and that makes the copper traces underneath it just look like gold. You can scrape the coating away with a knife and see for yourself the plain copper underneath. Hot lye solution (sodium hydroxide) will dissolve solder-mask but it's quite dangerous to handle and work with since it's highly caustic to skin. Lye also attacks glass containers, and will dissolve anything aluminum giving off explosive hydrogen gas in the process. It will not gain you anything to remove that coating from PC motherboards!
hi im called paul and im from the uk.im doing this in my spare time. is it better stripping the metals off the boards and selling it as is or just sell them as boards.i don,t get the allot of stuff.5 computers a week. i enjoy doing scrap as i have done this for years. beats spending ll your time in the pub and spending all your money.keep up the good work.
Hi Mike, I wanted to ask you do scrap yards take the low grade boards from stuff like tv and things like that if you remove the pieces of aluminum and copper parts from the board first or should I leave everything on them, thanks for your time, Vic
Very helpful. Thanks mike! As usual you've answered questions i didn't know i had between you and scrap metal forum my junk business is moving right along. junkfreak
I 've checked out boardsort before, left me kind of confused, your video was more helpful, I understand they want heatsinks and large capacitors removed. I have a local scrapyard, sims metal mgmt nearby that buys escrap and I've separated all my lowgrade boards (I 've been scrapping lots of tvs, crt and flatscreens) from the others, I removed the heatsinks, ICs and copper/transformers the the lowgrade boards and the power boards but I have some boards from a pc and some routers and printers and the flatscreens, they look like midgrade or periphial, they have the gold corner chips and lots o f IC's and some gold pins or plating on the boards. I'm not even sure if it is enough weight to bother selling yet, maybe 20 lbs, low grade I have alot. I will go in today to sell my wire, motors, copper and aluminum and ask about the escrap. Do you have anymore videos you'd recommend for a new scrapper?
Hey Mike!! Great video!! One quick question, is it a flat back or flat pack? The paces I have ready about them call them flat Packs, like the north and south bridge chips. Thanks

Mike are all peripheral boards gold finger. I took apart a slightly older tower and I'm pretty sure that the contacts I'm looking at are gold but not perfectly sure.
Nice start for 2013 Mike very informative video good luck.
I do have some video's coming out this year on gold refining...
Great video, the telecom transition page looked weird to me though, too long a fade in. I love the embedded links at the end.
Nice video explaining the differences between board types. I'll need to sort through my green boards again and take any that appear to be peripheral boards and put them in a separate pile. The strips from flat screens in your peripheral section, can go with your gold finger cards.
Scrap Rats TV The strips from flat screens are considered finger cards as far as scrap value?I've disposed of hundreds of panels with those boards still attached!
mike could you do a vid and how you remove the copper and aluminum without destroying the board
Could you make a vid on how you take the stuff off the boards? I can't figure out for the life of me how to do it. Thanks.
fantastic video mike im new to this and it was very very helpfull .I've watched it 11 times and have shared with friends .TIM from Australia Victoria .Melbourne.A1 video .thank you very much .

I was under the assumption that the connector pins on the floppy drive boards are gold plated.I have always removed those,am I wasting my time?
i really enjoyed this video mike keep them coming
I like that you added a time line very helpful thanku
Thank you. Think is so you can go back and see one item. Instead of having to watch the whole video.
you said it doesn't matter if you break them. so do they take all the little pieces I break when im taking metal off of the boards too? every little bit counts

thanks for your help
try Iscrapapp. com or Boardsort. com

If I rip the ic chips off are the peripheral boards worth less? What if any board cracks are they then worthless or deemed low grade?
should still be ok. I have done that to low grade boards
Mike the Scrapper will they take a fridge that had the Freon drained already someone cut the compressor
It has no certification tag or nothing
Thanks Mike!!
Mike you Rock!!!
Mike is it worth removing the ic chips and gold fingers or leaving them on and selling boards whole i really cant tell the difference between the boards what should i do please help
***** I would only remove the IC CHIPS from the Low Grade boards. ( Brown on both side or Green on 1 side and brown on the other).
Thanks mike
If you took it apart the way I do in my video's, then sell it for scrap.
THANKS BUDDY
Just the tubes... Don't break em ...

I wish you would get into more details.like what's the purpose, where its usually used e.t.c. good video though
