No. They do not. In fact, the training cops receive typically ignores ID laws and tells cops that they "should" get IDs from everyone they contact and run those IDs for warrants, and their policy says they "Should" get IDs from people they get calls on and run them for IDs. Now they don't tell the cops that in most states, there is no actual lawful reason to comply with this request, so the cops, having been told to do it and knowing the policy is to do it, will often arrest people for refusing to do so because they think it is a lawful request. The leadership doesn't care because the theory is that the more IDs you run, the more likely you will find someone with an outstanding warrant, and if the cop gets sued, the taxpayers will pay, so for the police leadership, it does not matter if the cop and the department gets sued. Another example is when people say they are not going to answer questions. The cops will immediately order them out of the car (which they can lawfully do) and handcuff and even threaten them with arrest and in fact even sometimes arrest them, because they are told how to ask questions to try to find some reason to suspect the driver is involved in some illicit activity, so they can justify a dog search and all to often, the dog hits, and the cops tear the car apart in a search. People have their rights violated hundreds of times a day in the US, and the system is designed to work that way and since the taxpayers are on the hook for the settlement, there is no incentive to change.
@@shenmisheshou7002 Thanks for your reply. I received some law enforcement training through the USDA Forest Service decades ago, including training about ethics and the Constitution. In fact, constitutional rights were of high importance at that time.
Lets get this clear. The prosecutor dropped it only when it was being brought up by a lawsuit??? So the prosecutor saw this mans constitutional rights being violated and didnt dismiss the charges until there was a problem being brought up by the public and the defendents lawyer. Why isnt the prosecutors being punished as well. This pisses me off that they allow bad behaviors by police officers to continue, but will change their mind when its brought to the public. People need to see the truth of how they are protecting officers every day. Prosecutors are just as bad as the cops, if not worse.
Good. Law has limits. Law enforcement should understand what is outside of the boundaries. 100% civil rights violation. Warrant less arrest. No criminal activity. Obstruction was an illegal charge. They had every ability to investigate. They went straight to arrest. Excessive force. Sounds like contempt of cop. They went hard because he insulted an officer. Something that is not just legal but a protected activity. Glad they paid out. Sounds like additional investigation into the officers involved is needed. Corruption is real
Glad he got his settlement! Police do exceed the power they have at time!!! I had an interaction with a policewoman who was the most gracious, kind, compassionate person I have ever met! The testosterone and ego makes male officers more aggressive at times! Just my opinion from the interaction I’ve had with law enforcement six the age of 6 and I’m now 71!
The training needed is SO simple even a cop might be able to LEARN it . KNOW AND RESPECT the LAW and the RIGHTS of the citizen BEFORE you go out and act like a DONKEY . If you still act like a tyrant , FIND ANOTHER JOB . There are thousands of videos online showing police that this very act has been deemed LEGAL by the courts , yet they still behave in this manner . Why ?

OK . . the guy was treated poorly and it looks like Ada will pay. I have had one interaction with Ada, including the Sheriff himself, that was thorough, respectful and jovial. This guy got off on the wrong foot and I didn’t. He gets a settlement while I didn’t need one.
