Great stuff Jack showing hows it really is. Gotta add a floating piece of wood in the troughs will allow the birds to clamber up,dry out and fly off without fouling.
I would love to know more about Danny too. Some carefully thought out questions, some he could have input to beforehand. The sad part of this is, that you will be culling horses and camels for the rest of your days Jack, WA is so vast, they will never stop wandering on to your property looking for water, as long as you live.
Head over to the Pilbara, plenty of cruisers flat decks over there parked up at Newman airport and im sure one of the mining companies wouldnt even know it was missing ! LOL
The multiple camera angles on that one water point was really cool to see. Great video! The biggest invasive we have in Utah is probably the starling. It’s hard to imagine having a camel infestation.
Jack, I would suggest that all your manual vehicles on the station probably should have an A-frame either permanently attached or stored. Makes for simple recovery and safer towing, also very handy for moving equipment around. Even better if they are a standardised thing across all vehicles.

I was blown away when I read about feral camel over population being so high and that the amount basically doubles every 9 years approximately. A non native specie doing damage to native species in both plant and animal. After the culling what happens to the carcasses? It has to be another massive issue.
Question 1, Is this the dry season when nothing grows for the cattle to eat? 2, So different to farming in Devon UK, when at the moment all we have is rain and boggy soil. The only pests we would like to control are the planning officers and nosey members of the public.
You mentioned using a .22 magnum, can you use a .22mag handgun? Or does the legislation mean no handguns at all,, no matter what caliber? I have a Keltec PMR30 .22mag pistol & I absolutely love it
The Keltec is actually the one I have in mind! It would be ideal. We are allowed a revolver on our primary producer licence, but it has to be larger than a 38, but I'm not allowed to use it outside of yards. On a club licence you are allowed any pistol (Inc semi auto) with a capacity limit of 10 rounds. But we aren't allowed to use those anywhere other than a range.
@@jack_out_the_back Thats just crazy. I wish all the political figures would just take a field trip & spend a day with you. The last thing you need is restrictions....your job is hard enough as it is. Much respect brother, keep at it.
Given you've got local WiFi at the water station, you might be able to use some cheap smart moisture sensors like the ones people use for alerting when their plants need to be watered. If you put a few at different levels of the tank you could at least confirm if the float level matches up with the sensor reading. You could also put a smart electrical load sensor like the Kill-a-watt on it to read the voltage from the pump.
An amazing video of the problem of the law of unintended consequences following the introduction of species where they are not part of the ecosystem. Donkeys, rabbits, horses, swine can cause real havoc where they have no natural predators.
Have you guys looked at recording the voltage levels of the batteries and remotely monitoring it? Could be graphed out for historical insights. You could overlay that with your weather data to see the impacts of overcast days and such.
If you add a few pieces of copper fittings or copper pipe, the algae growth will be significantly reduced. I use it for my pool and it helps reduce the amount of chemicals.

Jack im assuming a few strands of electric fence outside the yards wouldn't help to deter the camels from thrashing the gates. Some pretty awsome solar electric fencers on the market

That way you could see flow, if any, and actually come to recognise good flow over poor flow. Could be as basic as possible, no need for complicated especially out there.
